I have a text box with a scroller, and i have a list of links. The text is the answers to a faq the links are the questions. How do i set it up so when someone clicks a link it sends the scroll bar to the right place??

The first problem I have is I have created a scrolling text box - it's a list of items - and I want the user to be able to click on an item and then a specific frame load that relates to that item.
I'm sure this is possible but at the moment I can only work out how to add a normal html link inside the external text file so when clicking on the link it loads an actual webpage.
I have used the Scrolling Dynamic Text Tutorial and it works great. I have a url in the file that I want people to click on to launch within the movie. My problem is I can not figure out the code to do this.

View 10 RepliesI finished my slide show using xml.of course only one picture shows (loads) as my navigation is...the scrolling menu, so there is not click next button as in the xml slide show tutorial.I also finished, as you can see, the scrolling menu movie...i would not use the xml slide show technique with this as you would always have to manually go in and update blank boxes to load pics into as they are not overlapping in the same space.although you super coders can...im just not there...this is my first project with any coding, and im copy and paste man.how do i make it where my buttons in the scrolling menu call up the images from my xml document that created my slide show?[code]

I'm used to java so i can pick up some things fast. If thats used in the AS template from the tutorial it works pretty well except that the link opens up without it being clicked on. I'd like to learn how to link a piece of text.Secondly, from the RSS there are several such links, how would i go about a for loop? or an If statement? Could i do something like "if nodeName = URL" do something?
Noob question, I hope. I need to create scrolling text areas with rich text format content. I know I can use the textArea component and set the htmlText property but converting all of my RTF to HTML is gonna be a major pain in the @$$. I keep getting into trouble thinking what's mindlessly easy in Director/Lingo is gonna be reasonably simple in Flash/AS3, I hoping this is just my inexperience with Flash getting in the way. Is there an easier way? I thought of embedding a PDF document but apparently that's not an option in Flash either (note: I know how to link a PDF doc, I need this text to display and scroll within the application, not just pop a new window on top).

For now, I have it set up so that if someone clicks one of the menu items, the output window say "commited suicide after being cyberbullied", what I want to do is either have different text (that shows in the window) for each of the eight menu items when clicked, or 8 different URL links for each of the menu items, when clicked.

This might be straight forward, but I would like to know how could one link dynamic text boxes so that the information would flow? In a way, the information would flow from:
(XML) Input A into BOXA00, BOXA01, BOXA02, BOXA03, etc.

View 1 RepliesWhat I am trying to do is have a user input his data into multiple textboxes, then once the data is entered it is displayed on the datagrid at runtime. The problem is when I run the app I click my button but no information entered is added to datagrid. My textboxes are also supposed to clear once the button is pressed but again nothing happens. I do have a mc with a dynamic text box in it, this dynamic text box is linked to an texternal text file where I have the text I wanted to be shown in my mc when I publish the movie.
When you see the text in the movie I want to be able to use part of the text as a button to redirect the timeline to another scene and exact frame. For the moment I try everything I could but no luck.

The text box properties are set to "input text, multi line.
The problem is when I want to change just one line of the text to a bold or a different color, the whole text box contents changes. I've tried different property setting for the text box itself with no luck.

I'm trying to create a little linking menu, for that I want to use items and then have some text within those items. When the user then clicks on the item, it's supposed to link. It all has to be loaded externally from an xml file. Now, I can get it to work half the way, the items come up, but it doesn't load the text, and it doesn't link either.

I want to load text into a dynamic text field (called 'about_tab') using a class depending on the language selected (by clicking on a flag icon) by the user. View 6 Repliesthe project im working on is all database driven, there are no html files and all coding that is created is made by php then stored within a db to be called later on. now because of this i can't use relative links at all with anything i.e. images, videos and swf files.
so.....i am using swfobject to link to a swf file using absolute linking as shown in the coding below. but what i need to do now is link an .as file in my swf using absolute linking so i can call some arrays from the file.i have doubled checked to make sure my vars can be passed by local testing and it works but now i need it as absolute....is this possible?

I have a simple text field that is read only and it's very long, so I just want to use a scrollbar on the right-hand side. I dragged a UIScrollbar component to this text area, I lined it up, same height, and even named the text area as the scrollbar's target, but when I compile the swf, I get a blank scrollbar next to the text and 2 other scrollbars off the the right of the text!!! I also tried adding the scrollbar via code with the same results.
