ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading Contents Of Text File Dynamically?

I'm trying to load the content of a .txt file dynamically... If I leave the .txt file in the same root with the .swf it works perfectly, but I tried moving the .txt files into another folder and it stopped working...
Code:

"info" is the name of the folder the .txt file is in... I even tried upload it to my server and giving the absolute address like [URL] but nothing...

I'm loading content from a text file into a text field in Flash. In that text file I have some simple html tags like <b>, <i>, and <img>. I'm setting the textfield as html text:
myTextField.htmlText = myContent
The img tags work fine, but for some reason the bold and italics are not displaying...the tags are being correctly stripped from the text, but there is no bold or italic text. I'm embedding all the characters I need, but do I need to somehow embed the bold/italics versions of those characters?

Which is a more easier/simpler/preferred/more control way of dynamically loading a text from a txt file?

I'm loading text dynamically from a .txt file ( the font is embeded, verdana 10px, and it is rendered as HTML ). The problem is the following: the HTML tags work quite well but with some exceptions. I can't use <b> <i> <u> ( and maybe other options either but these were the ones I was playing around with ).

I am attempting to load text from an external .txt file into dynamic text fields using AS2When you click on a button (named forward and back), I want the next &-denoted "news" item to repopulate the current dynamic text boxes to replace the first bit of info.This is what I have so far, but I'm stumped. I used the trace to make sure the button is "clicking" (it is), but I can't get the integer to go up a number and repopulat the fields.

I've got a movieclip with a blank dynamic textbox inside. On frame 1 of this movieclip, I have the actionscript to load the contents of an external .txt file into the dynamic textbox. The problems are:
1. I have an <img> tag in the external .txt that doesn't work (actually, the text does wrap around where the img is supposed to be in the dynamic textbox, but the img itself is not appearing.
2. All <p> tags don't work, but <br> does.
3. I have an ampersand (&) in the .txt file and all text is cut off at that point when loaded into the dynamic textbox. I've tried escaping it (&) and using & to no avail.

I have built a simple Flash application that will be presented using a projector, the application will show messages in the form of questions that will come from a simple flat-file text file or XML file.
In addition to this I would also like to be able to add my own messages using a simple HTML form.
I've been looking around the web for some resources, but have been struggling to find what I am looking for. The basic idea is that the flash application will loop through these different messages from the XML, but then when a user types in a message that will also appear within these messages. Think of it as a sort of dynamic tag cloud.

I have a block of html text which is displayed to the user in a TextArea. Currently, the I have embedded the HTML as an XML object within one of my classes, but this seems like a terrible design. I would like to put the HTML in an embedded file and load it into an XML or String object.
I've tried to search for how to do this, but my searches return information on embedding images and fonts, not text which can be loaded into Strings.
Is it possible to embedded text or xml files and load them into variables in Flex?

I am trying to obtain the variables/contents of a php or a text file from my server using loadVars(), and the problem is that flash can get data from almost every server but from mine. (some shared hosting service) I just tried the code provided in the help files:

I'm sure that I did no mistake in typing the URL, for it works fine in the browser (also no spaces, no freaky chars), and when i change the URL to another domain (and put the txt file on that server) everything works fine. I tried both possibilities "network access" and "local access" as well as running from an exe projector. But no chance.

If i use the loadVariables it works, with the Html rendering.. if i use it with loadVars it works but now the html doesn't render. What i want is to load some text from my server into the text box and have the html to render. Also, is there a way to display the progress as the text loads, for people with slower connections?

I have started putting together a flash based website to present my works. I am dynamically loading thumbnails and the larger companions using an XML file. Everything seems to work fine on my comp but when I upload it to my host sever the larger images do not want to load and on occasion a page of thumbnails doesnt want to load. My address is [URL]. Also the code I am using only places one image atop another, so when I click on a thumbnail it will place the larger image on top of the last it does not take the previous one away. which can be a problem if one image is smaller than the last. or if I wanted to load movie clips.

I recently did a site for a spanish language online magazine where the text is loaded dynamically. My problem isn't actually loading the .txt . The thing is that spanish-language punctuations like �, �, �, �, � and � get truncated. The dynamic textbox has the font embedded, and the font I'm using has the vowel and � punctuations that get truncated.How may I correct this???? I've tried everything!!! I had to get rid of the punctuations, but I HAVE to include them because of the grammatical and syntax problems not having them makes.

Im having trouble loading text dynamically into a "masked" movie...I followed two tutorials to do put this together...this one for dynamically loading text: http:[url].....
and this for the preloader: http:[url].....I was able to load external movies correctly, BUT each of those movies have dynamic text content. I followed that external data tut to do it in each external movie...when i played that external movie by itself, the text worked..BUT when i loaded the external movie into the container movie -- the text did not show up. It only works when i unmask that content layer.
how can i make the text show up when the content layer is masked. (it needs to be masked for the effects of each external movie that is loaded into the container to work right)

I want to load pictures into the movie at runtime. And I want it to load all the picture within a folder. I could name the pictures in a certain way if needed. aka pic1, pic2.

I'm trying to dynamically load in 3 photo galleries into a file. They are all SWF files. When you click the button for the thai gallery, it'll pop up. But if you want to navigate to the alex gallery, the thai gallery is still visible underneath. And the same problem with the 3rd gallery only all 3 are visible at this point. Is there a way to make these not visible? I'm using CS4 with ActionScript 3.0. I've got 3 separate buttons set up for the 3 galleries. Is there a better method? I've tried using the removeChild(); but I don't think I've used it correctly as it throws errors all over the place when trying to use it.

I have an instance of button with a dynamic text field which is getting the text from an external txt file. What I am trying to achieve is to have it load from a different text file based on its instance name. The end result i want to achieve is each instance of the button has its own unique name based on its corresponding txt file, i assume this can be done based on its instance name.

This question relates to the gallery that I'm working on; basically, I am now trying to add text comments which change according to which button you press to the images. I know how to make this work by applying actionscript to each individual button, but I would like to put all of the actionscript on one layer, meaning that I would have to use the 'button.onRelease = function ()' operation instead of the 'on (release) { function" operation.The code is a variation of Kirupa's code for the tutorial on loading information from an XML, and the xml is his completely.
