ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading Data From XMl File And Uses It To Run An If Statement. If Statement Fails?

Oct 10, 2008

The Flash movie contains 2 Text files, one Component button, and 1 component checkbox.The purpose of the application is to load an XML file(works)Populate 2 text fields with information from the XML file(works)Compare the two text fields, if they contain the same information then the checkbox, via AS is told to be selected. (Heres the problem);

Heres the code:

Code:
runCode_btn.onPress = function() {
data_xml = new XML();
data_xml.ignoreWhite = true;
data_xml.onLoad = function(success) {

[code]....

The idea behind this app is that its an electronic form. The user fills it out, the information is then sent to a newly created XML file, months later the open the XML file in flash, and Flash fills out text fields and check and or unchecks Checkboxes based on the XML data.CheckBoxes are mandatory.But I don't see how I'll be able to use them if i can't create and condition statements based on the loaded Data.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Use A For Statement To Create An If Statement

Jul 12, 2010

what I'm trying to do is create an else if argument for each object in an array based on a user set number

Code:
for(var i:int=0; i < numberOfElseIfs; i++){
GENERATE AS3 CODE
}

to which I want it to GENERATE THE FOLLOWING CODE:

Code:
}else if(baskets[i].used == false){
baskets[i].used = true;
drawButton(i);
}

the problem is obviously that the compiler reads this code rather than understanding I'm trying to regenerate the code within the for loop...does that make sense :S? So basically I need as3 to read the code between the for statement as if it is going to echo that out later. Is this even possible?

The variable/data being imported in is indicating which measuring unit the user preferred - "inchs" for inch's or "cms" for centimeter's.The statement never seems to recognize this data and always proves false and 'else' is executed.However if I instruct the data to be displayed in a text box eg."display.text = n.unit;" The text box displays the correct result as if the data has came across fine?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Conditional Statement From XML To File?

Dec 16, 2011

I'm trying to pull in a conditional statement from an XML file to an actionscript file. Basically, the idea is that I have an activity called "keyPress.as" that is included on a Flash page. Directions, success and failure text are pulled in dynamically from XML as well as the resulting screen shot on success. Success is defined as the correct key stroke from a user when the corresponding page's .swf file is run. Could be a single key or key combination.

Here's the basic AS code that I'm using (please assume that 'pageData' is the loaded XML - that is done in another file - and it works for pageData.directions, which pulls in the directions text from the XML <directions>text</directions>):

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamic Flash Sometimes Fails To Load Data From External .txt File?

Sep 2, 2010

I have this Simple Flash banner, that loads text, colors, and entire banner hyperlink from external .txt file into flash.For importing text into dynamic text fields with vars set i use

loadVariables("http://www.mysite.com/DIR/data.txt","");

For importing hyperlink onto flash button i use two layers:On blank layer i use:

loadVariables("http://www.mysite.com/DIR/data.txt","");

On button itself i use:

on (release) {
getURL(link1, "_blank");
}

Button has instance set also.Everything works fine and nicely.I use this HTML script to use banner in any website i like:

<object classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://active.macromedia.com/flash4/cabs/swflash.cab#version=4,0,0,0"
id="name" width="468" height="60">

[code]....

Ok So everything works nicely. I load flash i load text, and i also load hyperlink. So after a happy job i went to sleep and other morning i tried to enter website with HTML code, that shows flash and i noticed:

1. Some times flash loads animation, but doesn't load my data.txt and places where dynamic text should be are blank, also hyperlink doesnt work, because it also seems to fail to load.

2. So i press "Refresh" on explorer and data loads perfectly.

3. So i keep pressing refresh some times try to turn of explorer and i noriced that some times it fails to load data and only non dynamic flash animation is played, and some times it loads it nicely.

IDE :: For Statement - Get The Index From The Name

Mar 17, 2009

I'm using a for-statement to add a series of movieclips.

for (var i:Number = 0; i<10; i++) {
attachMovie("myMC", "myMC"+i, this.getNextHighestDepth());
}

Inside the movieclips I have some code. In this code I need the index-number of the movieclip. I'm staring the code off with: var indexr:Number = _root.i; The for-statement is so fast that all the movieclips get number 9 in the index-variable! Is there any trick to manage this, like can I get the index from the name in some way? Or do I have to work around it in some more or less complicated way?
