ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading An External Movie Through An External Movie To The Main Movie?

Apr 30, 2003

I am creating a full site in flash. The main movie has an empty movie clip in the middle of the movie to load external movies as the user clicks on the links. Everything has worked good so far as the linking has only gone 1 level deep. However, when I created a new external movie, and had buttons on it for another external page, but yet to open in the main movie, I can't get anything to work. Example.... In the main movie, the user clicks on the archive link, and the external archive movie is loaded into the main movie. Now, on this archive movie, there is a button on it that links to a another movie (say text effects.swf). However, when they click this button for text effects, I can't get it to load into the main movie clip and replace the archive movie that was currenlty there.

ActionScript 2.0 :: [CS3] External Images Uploaded To Flash?

Feb 11, 2009

I previously had all those images in the library. They were attached to a father clip with attachMovie(), and next they were placed and resized somewhere on the stage. Everything was correct.So, in order to create a lighter SWF, I decided to do external loads. I need these clips to be resized and placed once they're on the stage. I thought loadMovie() wouldn't be a good option because the resize would happen before the clips were loaded, and so they wouldn't be resized. So I thought of using the MovieClipLoader class, with its loadClip() method in order to load every image into empty movie clips, and perform the resize inside the onLoadComplete event handler.

Flash :: Loading / Unloading External SWF Using Buttons From Loaded External Files

Feb 23, 2011

I spent almost a week trying to figure out how to unload a currently loaded swf using its button and loading a new swf... I have three files, a main.fla, file1.fla and file2.fla. In my main.fla, I have a code which loads the other two files. If i will click the "unload" button in the file1.swf, I would like the main.fla to unload the file1.swf and load the other file, file2.swf. Here is the code to load the file1.swf:

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash 8 - Loading External Movie In Container From Button

Jan 19, 2010

I am working on a project where I require to load an external swf movie in a container at frame3 when I click on a button at frame1. And at he same time the movie should fit exactly into that container. And at the end of the movie it should bring back me to the frame1, where all my buttons are there. Another thing is my first frame of the external movies which I have to load is blank so I want to load a movie directly from frame2 or a specific frame.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Loading External Movie Clips And Duplicating Them

Jun 7, 2010

I'm trying to create a user customisable touch screen interface - in which people can include their own button styles (currently created as movie clips). I have a working XML file that names the style / external swf name for each button but I don't seem to be able to then duplicate that movie clip for say use in 10 separate buttons. When I try this only the last one created is displayed. I can of course separately load the file 10 times but that is yuk.

I hope to be able to position the timeline through n states in each loaded clip independently and also have one click handler that can return me an identifier of which was clicked - I know how to loop/create dynamic instance names.

<edit> I can do this successfully from the library - just not as an external file load - where the MC won't be in the library at all.

Code:
//Initialize variable to hold target data
var targetClip:MovieClip;
//********* Add a "MovieClip" variable that will reference the root of the loaded clip:**********

ActionScript 3.0 :: External Swf Not Loading On Server?

Jul 17, 2009

I know many have had problems getting a child .swf file to load once put on the server though it would work perfectly on the local machine.

The solution is simple: absolute linkage - so lets say your child .swf is located in a folder named myFile on the root folder and your parent .swf is on the root, and in your AS3, you are linking to an XML file which is in the myFile folder inside of a folder name "xml" like so:

var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("xml/myXml.xml");
var xmlData:XML;
xmlLoader.load(url);

Flash :: Loading An External SWF File Into A Loader Movie And Type Casting To MovieClip

Nov 13, 2009

I am trying to import a SWF file into a custom loader and then treat the loaded SWF file as a MovieClip object. The code for the functionality can be seen below.

public function loadMyMovie(movie:String)
{
var now:Date = new Date();
var rnd:String = "?randomize=" + now.time;

[Code].....

When I do this I get the following error.

"Implicit coercion of a value with static type flash.display:DisplayObject to a possibly unrelated type flash.display:MovieClip."

Professional :: .flv Will Not Play Once Uploaded To Server But Plays Fine Before It Is Uploaded

Aug 6, 2010

I have a flash template that I bought and customized with dreamweaver, flash and Coda html editor, the website test PERFECTLY when I test the index.html file, all of the buttons work fine, I have a total of 12 .flv videos and they ALL play back fine, when I play the index.html file, the problem occurs when I upload the files to my godaddy server, 11 of the videos play fine, the whole site is fine, it is one particular .flv file that will not play once it is uploaded to the server. I have changed the orders the video play, renamed the file and changed the html flv path to reflect the name change, I have deleted all the files off my server, refreshed the server logged out and re logged on and uploaded everything again, I have re-encoded the original .mov file to a .flv file again using Adobe media encoder, still nothing, I am wondering why would the index.html play this particular .flv file fine, but once uploaded to the server it will not play, the path is correct I have checked it, if the path were the problem the index.html for that particular file would not play when I test the index.html file before I upload it, but it plays fine until it is uploaded, I am uploading the whole folder on the root, and this particular video file is in a folder with all the rest of the .flv files, I even tried changing the path and putting this particular .flv file in a seperate folder and change the path still nothing.

ActionScript 1/2 :: External Swfs Not Displaying When Site Is Uploaded?

Feb 2, 2010

I've created a flash website and have split it up into different swfs and have added pre loaders so it loads more cleanly. When I preview the site the links open up the external swfs no problem, but once the site it uploaded the swfs don't load, it appears that the main movie restarts insted of the external swfs (only the contact button works because it's part of the main movie).The 4 buttons at the bottom of the main page go to frames with the follwing or similar action script

designplay.loadMovie("design.swf");

This frame also contains the clip (designplay) which the design.swf should load into. It appears the issue is with the paths, I've spent a long time trying to fix this and just can't get it.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading Within An External Movie

Apr 22, 2006

Movie1 loads external Movie2

Movie2 attaches the loading bar "loader"

Within loader there is a bar, that bar's width depends on the var picPercent on the Movie2 timeline.

So I used

Code:

onClipEvent(enterframe){
this._width = _root.picPercent;
}

now my problem is, it's trying to get picPercent from _root, but it doesn't move. Is that because it's looking for picPercent from Movie1 and not Movie2 like I'd like?

I have no idea where to start and where to load my external swf's, and the best i can do right now is to duplicate the scenes and use normal links, but that takes away the look of my buttons when switching from one page to another.how to make a pre-loader for the external swf's also?

AS3 :: IDE : Loading And Controlling External SWF Movie?

Sep 10, 2008

I'm able to load the actual external SWF movie, but I can't seem to control it. I have already built a controller for my flash video player. The problem now is it only plays FLV and I want it to be able to take in SWF support. Again, I load the SWF fine, but controlling is the problem.

function finished_loading (e:Event) {
var externalMovie = MovieClip(swfLoader.content); // cast 'DisplayObject' to 'MovieClip'
addChild(externalMovie); // add your swf directly to the stage

[code]....

I think this is the problem with the code. Casting it to a MovieClip only gives me a 1034 error.

IDE :: Loading External Swf Into Movie Clip

Jan 7, 2010

This used to be so easy in AS1 and AS2, but since I haven't been using Flash in 2 years now. looks like time ran over me - and it looks like it'd take me a while before I figure this out in AS3. So, what I want to do is to call external swf into another movie clip and my stage is set like this.

In main timeline I have two layers:first is (center_mc) and contains movie clip "center_mc" which is positioned in the middle of stage and in the second layer (mbottom_mc) is movie clip "mbottom_mc" that will contain buttons as "menubtn01". So what I Want to do is when I click on this "menubtn01" to call external swf into THAT movie "center_mc". So to clear the external swf that "center_mc" is showing with the new.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading External SWFs From Another External Swf Into The Main SWF Container?

May 4, 2011

I have created a main "site.swf" file that loads a "default.swf" file into a container after a preloader. On this default.swf file I have buttons that needs to load new external SWF files in its place in the container. All of the external SWFs contain buttons and navigations that will also call up other external SWFs into this container. So, I would like to know how to program each button (some are movieclips as buttons) to unload itself and load the respective SWF into the container (eg. AboutUsButton to call up aboutus.swf into the container). I do not have a main navigation on the site.swf file bacause the navigation changes on each SWF that needs to be loaded into the container.
