ActionScript 2.0 :: MX Variables Progress Bar

Apr 23, 2003

I am struggling with trying to deal with variables & loading.I have two movies: one - is the Player - it has a progress bar, much like preloading bar. it gets these from..two - the footage it has a looping MC in it that runs the progress bar with the following code:[code]You have to constantly refresh the values; hence the loop.I need to move this to the main movie. Did I mention that this is all loaded dymanically? movieName ="video1. swf"/Can I swap the _root.movie.getBytes with the variable so that it'll gauge the progress of the load? Haven't figured out have to make it actually work.The next logical step is to have an icon that shows where the viewer is in the movie.URL...

ActionScript 3.0 :: Progress Of Posting Variables?

Jan 14, 2009

I've created an flash application that will post variables to a PHP page. This PHP page will then take the variables and using GD Libraries, create a JPEG image on my server and save it. I'm writing in AS3 based on the AS2 tutorial I found here.The variables I'm sending are height and width of the image, and then a very long string containing all the values of the pixel colours, with rows and columns separated by characters. (ie ffffff,dddddd-aaaaaa,cccccc). The example here is only a 2x2 image, so a small 400x300 image is 120,000 pixels x 6 characters = 720,000 characters + all the separators! This method is working quite well, but can take about 20-30 seconds to send on a slow connection.My explanation is very long but the question is quite simple. I know you can get progress events and bytesTotal and bytesLoaded on incoming URLVariables, but has anyone discovered a way to track the progress of sending out variables?

Create A Progress Bar (248px Wide) With A Slider That Moves According To The Movie Progress

Jun 4, 2010

I have an SWF movie (1375 frames) and created a progress bar (248px wide) with a slider that moves according to the movie progress. I'm doing that next way:Calculating the distance for the slider to be moved each frame (248 / 1375) On each ENTER_FRAME moving the slider for the calculated distance The problem is - the movie ends far before the slider reaches the end of the progress bar.

I'm thinking that the distance (Step 1) is is somehow ends floored by Flash and the actual distance it moves the slider is smaller than required. That's why the movie ends, but the timeline control just passed the 2/3 of its way. My question is - is there any solution for the problem? Or any other way to go, if it's a wrong one?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Defining Variables - Unique To Load SWFs Instead Of Declaring All The Variables

Mar 21, 2012

I have an empty SWF that's sole purpose is to call loadMovieNum and start the project. Each loaded movie has a few variables defined within them - unique to those loaded SWFs. Instead of declaring all the variables in each SWF can I declare all of them in one place, in the first frame of the empty loader it all starts from? I'm thinking I can then declare a variable which each loaded movie can increment as needed for me.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Variables True/false Custom Variables Work In Flash?

How do variables true/false custom variables work in flash?

For example, what I want to do is create a simple true=false variable that I can call on an if statement later.

For example:

Code:
Var1 = true;
if (!Var1)
{

[Code]....

I noticed that neither the "Var1 = true;" part or the if(!Var1) part worked in flash.

I program and use so many different languages that I dont know if that can be done with AS3. my only other alternative i can think of is to create some sort of event dispatcher object array. but I dont know how to get them all to send events to one listener with there index number.

Actionscript 3 :: Changes To Array Of String Variables Doesn't Update The Variables Themselves

Jul 30, 2010

I also have an array of buttons that I update this same way that works great, but strings don't seem to work the same way. I have tried moving the string array to give it full scope, and still nothing...

ActionScript 3.0 :: Load Data From Different Variables - The New Variables Come Back As Undefined?

Jun 15, 2010

I'm writing code that takes data from mysql that's processed by a PHP script. It's actually a bit bizarre, at least to me. Anyway, here's some basic AS3 code that's moving toward what I want to do:

var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
var urlRequest:URLRequest=new URLRequest("receive.php");
urlRequest.method=URLRequestMethod.GET;[code]....

For some reason, the statement "trace(evt.target.data);" produces a whole pile of garbled text before the actual stuff that it's supposed to show Because of problem #1, I've had to include a throwaway variable at the beginning, otherwise the first variable I try to pass into AS3 comes back as undefined. This causes errors when I run my flash movie in the IDE, but when I run it from the browser it doesn't seem to have any effect.But this is the strangest thing of all whenever I make any changes to the database (and subsequently try to load data from different variables), the new variables come back as undefined. For example, let's say that I add another entry to the database, and decide to load students 2, 3, and 4 instead of 1, 2, and 3. When I do that, any new data I've added comes back as undefined, even though when I view the PHP output in my browser, it looks just fine.

And now for the REALLY bizarre part: I'll copy that output, paste it into my PHP script as an echo statement, comment everything else out, and my flash movie runs fine. Even though the output from the PHP script is exactly the same, it gives me errors.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Show Progress Through AC3?

May 13, 2009

I've been having a hard time for some days now trying to make a progressbar in AC3. I searched the web and tried several different approaches and attempts but nothing works. I hope I can get some input from here now...

The main portion of the applicataion is working. It's only when I try to use AC3 to control the jumps in the timeline the problem occours.

This is my AC3-code:

import flash.events.*;import flash.display.Loader;stop();addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, myFunction);var p_loader:URLLoader=new URLLoader();//addChild(p_loader);

[Code].....

As I run the code all the trace-statements is printed. But the bytes is 0 all the time. I guess this has something to do with the main problem. I tried to simulate the download-process, but in this way not even the "kirupatxt.text = "TESTING";" is printed in my dynamic textfield.

I've created a progress bar animation to load an external SWF file as described in this document: [URL] The problem is, the SWF file i want to load is a magazine exported from Indesign, so I want it to display one page (frame) at a time (you can go to the next page using the navigation buttons provided). When I use the method mentioned above the clip loads, but then it plays... so how can i make it stop at the first frame?

ActionScript 1/2 :: Draggable Progress Bar For Swf?

Oct 12, 2011

I need to add a progress bar/playback controls for a presentation built in AS 2.0 which has such length voice over in it we've decided we need to give the user the ability to see where they are in the timeline and scrub through sections of the presentation. I'm familiar with stop and pause button code in situations like this, but it's the first time I've needed this kind of functionality. Presently, the first part of my project is set up with several scenes and is completely linear. The second section is interactive with swfs loaded into empty movieclips.

I've found a number of references to progress bars online, but they're all for loading content, not for navigating once content is downloaded.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Array Variables, Variables Not Working Correctly?

Jul 11, 2011

There is a bird, and you control its upwards movement with a key. It has thrust, gravity, it works fine. The problem is I have a bunch of icicles that come at the bird that he is supposed to avoid. I tried this first with math random to use as an x coordinate and than move across the screen, but the icicles had the same x-coordinates sometimes. I tried does not equal(!=) but that doesn't work. I made an array and each number that came out of the array I assigned a different variable. This works fine. I put this variable into the x-coordinate such as mc.x=((n)*60)+480. I did this for five different icicles. All their differnt variables have a different value, and I put them into the same function for each individual video clip, but they still don't go to the right coordinate. Here is the test code just for the initial coordinate of each icicle before it moves...////////////////////////////Quote:

var temp:Array = new Array()
for (var i:int=0;i<8;i++) {
temp.push(i);
