In addition to altering width and height, I need to be able to place it...Essentially what the final outcome is to put snow in a globe.Is there a way to change placement in x and y? I'm building a Snow Globe in ActionScript 3 and I need to come up with a set of equations to control two level of snowflakes - one level random, and the other interactive where a user can click on them.For the random snow, I need to have it create certain number of random x/y positions at the bottom of the globe, which is a circle with a radius of around 300. Then when the shake action occurs, They should randomly float toward the top, then fall back to a random position at the bottom of the circle again.
For the interactive snow, I need it to randomly layout, but I don't want flakes to overlap so that its easier to interact with them.
Which part of this code do I change to make the speed of the 'snowflakes' faster? (from falling snow 0.3 tut):

I created bubbles using the snow 3.0 tutorial from here at kirupa. I slightly altered the code so it would be for bubbles on a canvas of 800x500.The problem with the tutorial is that it is for snow moving downward on the y axis. for bubbles in the water, I need them going upward.which part of the code I need to alter so the bubbles will move up and not down? Also, I need the life of the bubble to last the length of the canvas.

View 4 RepliesI've made a image slider Class and works fine up to the position of the mask. In my Home Class I make an instance of the image slider Class and position it accordingly. The images in the slider Class are position at 0, 0 as well as the shape I use for the mask. Here is the problem the mask placement is at stage.x = 0 , stage.y = 0 rather then the slider's Class x:0, x:0. Why is the slider instance showing the in right position but the mask in the instance isn't?[code]
View 1 RepliesI've been using sen's flash/xml drop-down menu tutorial, and I have been able to create the following for (mt):url...If you rollover the first item, you will notice that the submenu loads to the right side. What I would like to have is something similar to the following attached image. Also, the code I am using can be found in the attached FLA.I know how to make the menu appear directly below the parent node, but the problem is that I am unable to shift the menu items down so that the menu items don't overlap over the existing menu items. You can see an example of what I am trying to do in the attached image.Does anybody have any insight on how to accomplish that. I tried finding the name of each movie clip and shifting them downward, but it seems that none of the movie clip names correlate to the actual menu item - therefore, I am unable to shift them downwards in order to make a space for them.

I would like find out if it is possible to:
1) load in an xml file that contains several names
2) Load each one of those names into a predefined movie clip which would display the name
3) randomize the placement of each name in a given shape area so that the Movie clips with names would randomly fill in to make a specific shape.
I am working on an animation project. I'm not a programmer. I'm working in Flash CS3. I've an animation that I've produced that I need to output the placement of my audio track for use by the post-sound guy. After my recording session, my sound guy gave me one large file that had all my audio on it. I've had to scrub to the correct position on the audio track for each clip I wanted.
Now that my animation is completed, I've got my audio all in place, but I need a record of where it's at in the Flash Timeline so that I can give that to my post-sound guy so that he can rebuild it in his sound editing software.
What I'm wondering is if there is a way to run a trace or generate something of a text file that will do the following[code]...
making an XML menu for a website. Each button has a background and and over-state background. The backgrounds are 9 sliced scaled movie clips, well the over-state background is set up to mask an animation movie clip that is larger than any button will be. The mask is 9 slice scaled and is always the same size as the regular background. These backgrounds are x-scaled in a function in the Button.as. The title passed in through the XML determines the width. All of this so far works perfectly.
Now a navigation movie clip processes and adds all of the button movie clips based on the amount of nodes in the XML, this also sets the X and Y coordinates as well as sets a "spacer" between the buttons. Here is my problem, every time the function runs to create a new button, it sets the x value at:

This is great if I don't use the mask though. What happens since the movie clip I am masking in the over-state background is wider than the buttons are is that there is wayyy to large of a gap. When each button is added, actionscript sees the width of the button with everything in it, masked or not. So I've tried a for-loop in the button creating function to increment a number variable from 0 - the max number of buttons in the XML. I then want to set the x value to:

button.x = (button.background.width * i);
This is the background of the button that has the correct width that actionscript should be using. By multiplying it by the i variable, it should move the x right with every button. Unfortunately it's not working.

i am experiencing a strange and unpleasant situation.I am using CS3 and upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.2 last night, along downloading the latest Flash Player for browsers.
Problem is that now all of my text block arent displaying the same line height that before i updated?????
I compared the same exact SWF made under Tiger and those made under Snow Leopard and the two arent identical, lines are misaligned regarding line height!
Has anyone tried the Snow 3.0 tutorial using Flash CS4? I followed all the steps and can't seem to get it work?

Is there a way I can make the snow fall, say, halfway through my animation so I can add other things to it?

I just installed Snow Leopard and now my Flash CS4 will not stay open. It crashes. All software updates are up to date.

View 3 RepliesI hate to start a new thread but I didn't see one pertaining to this issue. I hope I am not alone. I recently bought a new iMac and it came with Snow Leopard OS. I ported over my Web Premium Creative Suite and all of my applications work great except for Flash CS4. I open the app to the intro screen but as soon as I try to open an existing project file or even to create a new project file, the app crashes immediately. I tried calling Adobe Support but they only turn me away, saying I need to purchase a $175 Support Plan for help. I just want my Flash to open. The same app works fine on my Macbook Pro (running Leopard). It seems adobe should be willing to help seeing as how the specifications say it is supposed to be compatible with Snow Leopard.Anyway, I have tried installing all updates and Deactivating/Uninstalling and Reinstalling.

I've just switched over to Mac OS 10.6 and found that the line spacing has changed in my files. Basically it seems to have increased the line spacing so the static text fields take up more space. I've updated Flash and I'm now on 10.6.1 but the problem remains. It doesn't do this on 10.5.8 or in InDesign and SL (but it does do a similar thing in Quark 7.5). It doesn't seem to matter what font it is either. Does anyone have any suggestions?

View 2 RepliesI made a flash movie with snow falling from the sky in Flash 8 (actionscript 2.0). However, the snow I made differs from the original. The original is here: [URL]. I put mine here: [URL]. You will notice that my snow only falls downward: there is no randomness for the flakes to go left or right. There is no movement. Where in the script below can I change that so that there's more movement for the flakes?
I use the following script for the snow itself:

I have Flash MX2004 but find when trying to open a flash file created using Flash CS5, the file wiill not open and give me an error ' Unsupported file fotrmat'.
View 1 RepliesI have a couple of Flash projects that were originally built in CS3. Last year I upgraded them to CS5 without trouble. Recently I have upgraded my Macs to Snow Leopard, and when I open both of these FLA files in CS5 on Snow Leopard, some of the fonts are insanely distorted.
