ActionScript 2.0 :: Making XML Gallery Full Screen (Browser)
Jul 23, 2009
I am using an XML Gallery on my website and I would like to make it full screen (take up the entire browser) -- instead of its current size. I have played around with the code for hours and pulled most of my hair out and STILL I have no luck on making it fullscreen... I get the positions changed but I can't manage to enlarge it to the whole browser.
Here is my code used to align the holder on the stage and the gallery components (bttnPrev and bttnNext are on the left and right of the image to control movement to other images):
Code:
alignPic = function () {
holder._x = (stageW-holder._width)/2;
holder._y = (stageH-holder._height-menu_mc._height)/2;
bg_mc.bg._x = holder._x;

I am working in Flash CS3 and Actionscript 3.0 My application resizes according to browser width and height. If the user first resizes the browser and then loads the flash application, I could not get the full browser width untill the user goes for full screen. Is there any way around, to get the full browser width before the user goes for full screen.

Is a command for AS2 to make my movie file play fullscreen (stretch, fit to screen, anything).
goFullScreen(); is great but it leaves white bars left and right. What's odd is that I'm using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder and it seems to display a perfect widescreen that I want as an input and output but once compiled in flash, it's more square leaving me with white bars left and right. The frame for the video in flash is also widescreen looking.
edit: I ended up stretching the width of the frame but if there is a better way through a command that would make my life easier so I don't have to adjust to every monitor that I run this on.

It was designed in Flash MX 2004 on a mac. I need to make the site load full screen in the browser but with the content not to scale with the content to remain centered at all times if the screen size is larger than site. How do I do this? What publish settings does it need and do I use fscommand? Or does it need html code adjustment?

a couple issues I'd like to work out. I have taken the XML photgallery tutorial a step further by making it full browser (with images centered in the browser window). To make this possible, I've sunk the "picture" mc one level deeper into a "container" mc that is centered via actionscript.
So the code changed from: picture to _root.container.picture
Problem is, the registration point for the loaded images is top left. Since some of the images are different sizes, I'd like the registration point to be dead center. How would I do this? Actionscript follows (it's a lot, my apologies).
Side note: Why is the fade-in script so poorly written? Is there a way to make the fades smooth? It works ok when on local drive, but I'm assuming that the delay introduced by an image being accessed on the server makes some of the fades very sudden and ineffective. Any idea how to force the alpha fade to wait until the image has fully loaded?

problem regarding xml flash gallery and as 2.0. I have created a xml photo gallery from Kirupa ([URL]) I want to create a gallery where the images from the .xml fill the entire screen and scales proportionally. To achieve this I have followed this tutorial: [URL] As long as I can center the content of the mc center to stage this works fine, but when I create an empty movie clip and try to load external content from the xml file to the mc (instance name = picture) the images does not behave as espexted. It looks as if the TL corner of the jpg images are aligned TL in relation to the MC. Also the image rotates 90degrees clockwise. A final problem is that this test:

I bet you can't solve this one! I am using AS2 to make a full screen gallery like this: [URL].. and I'm having some problems:
1) MOST IMPORTANT: When the gallery is loaded in a smaller browser window, then the browser window is maximized, the scroll bar doesn't work properly when clicked. The scroller moves, but not to the position at which the user clicks.
2) LESS IMPORTANT: When the user mouses over the scroller and scroll bar, I would like their alpha/colour to change (preferably fade in and fade out).
3) LEAST IMPORTANT: Is it possible to use a graphic for the scroller?

I'm working on a Flash video slideshow (which you can preview here).
I would like to be able to make it so you can click a button (I've got one made in the doc already) that will make just the video on each "slide" go full screen, similar to how you can do so with other videos on sites like YouTube and others.
While what I've linked to above is just a template I'm messing with, I'd like to be able to have a video on the right, let's say, with text on the left, and then be able to click a button (perhaps under the video that says "full screen) and have the video that is there fill the whole window and play. And then, hitting escape would bring you back.
I've seen plenty of tutorials for making Flash go fullscreen, but nothing out there yet for just the FLV contained on the page go full screen.

i'm having a problem with embedding a full screen flash gallery. when clicking a thumbnail executes swfobject.embedSWF which creates the flash-object and the gallery is showing up. when closing the flashgallery, i'm removing the whole flash-objects. then when clicking another thumbnail, swfobject.embedSWF for embedding the object simply doesn't work anymore

I've spent the past few days having a look for this and no luck so far. Basically I have got a multi-page XML gallery with thumbnails. At the moment the images in the gallery stay their original size. I want to make it so that a) the image takes up the entire page of the browser/stage, and b) the image resizes as the browser does, which I suppose might be in the publish settings.
So my question is how can I size this image so it takes up the entire stage? I've tried fiddling around with Stage.width and Stage.height but no luck so far.
Something like this: [URL]is what I mean.
Attached is my .fla, the actionscript code is all within a key frame inside gallery_mc.

I'm attempting to put together a Flash site that fits the entire browser window no matter what the user sizes it to. I have searched here along with Google and can't seem to find a solution to my problem. I found a nice example on how to achieve it however it is missing one key aspect of what I need which has got me wondering whether or not what I'm looking to do is even possible.
My flash site has movie clips that will animate from off the stage on the right and bottom edges. What I want to have happen is in the browser window I want it to look like it comes from off-screen as well. So for example, you have a ball bounce in from off the right side of the screen into the center of the browser and then maybe it bounces down off the screen at the bottom of the browser.
The solution I have found fills the window and doesn't scale which is what I'm looking for, but any items that are off the stage in my Flash file will show in the browser if it is resized big enough. Here's the example I found[url]..

I am creating a website where the entire background is tiled and it also contains a photo gallery. Now, the photo gallery has to only appear within a limited height but the width could be similar to the browser window. (The website will be a full browser website with a capability of going fullscreen.). I tried a lot of things but the stage calculation requires to be a little different than the general stage properties.
In general, the height and width of the image is directly proportional to those of the stage. But what I am looking at is for the image to be rescaled proportionally to the width of the stage but the height nneds to be about 20-30% less than the height of the actual stage. Basically the background will be visible in that 20-30% of empty space. (And of course other elements)
My scaling of the image code looks like following,
Code:
function scalePic():void {
if ((stageHeight / stage.stageWidth) < imHeight) {
im.width = stage.stageWidth;
im.height = imHeight * im.width;
[Code] .....
And it also centers the image on the stage based on the new stage size.

I need to create a full browser flash website with a background image or maybe even rotating background images like these:
[URL]
I tried playing with the code from these sites unsuccessfully before thinking that the scaling must be coming from the flash file itself. There seems to be a lot of these sites. I saw this tutorial:
[URL]
But I think this is in AS2 (i'm not a big coder) and also uses a seamless pattern but I would like to use photos.

I am trying to create a website that will full scale the browser window with all the flash elements inside but I am having trouble deciding what resolution to design in and how to lock certain content to not scale.
I am trying to achieve the effect that will consist of a high resolution image as the background for each section of the website that will full screen. Content such as logo and footer etc should always remain locked. An example of this can be found at http:[url]..... If you shrink the browser window all content stays centralised and the top and bottom footer do not scale, although the central part of the site does change. I was wondering how this effect was achieved? How does some content remain locked and others scale. I really can not figure out what dimension size to design in and achieve the high res image effect for the site. I too will require a top and bottom footer.how that site was published and constructed that would be brilliant.At present I am playing around with the following code:
fscommand("fullscreen",true);
Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
Stage.align = "C";
I then know the publishing settings should be set at 100 x 100 percent and that when the swf is imported to the html to write the following style tag:
<style>
body {margin;0px:padding;0px}
</style>

I tested my skin for YouTube Chromeless player, and seems it worked properly.All graphic elements, including TLFTextFields, are stored in external SWF, all the AS3 code - in loading SWF.I use ProLoader class to load SWF.However, when I tried to attach Player skin code to my Home Page code, I immediately bumped into two issues:
1. TLFTextFields ceased to display proper font;
2. YouTube Chromeless player ceased to enlarge up to Full Screen width in Full Screen mode, whereas all publishing settings were kept the same...
Although I managed to cope with TLFTextField bug by replacing instances with vars in loaded SWF, I have no the slightest idea what to do with those paddings in Full Screen mode... Neither removing all children on stage before loading YouTube Player skin, nor compulsory resetting player's size can't make it work...

How to create a fluid / liquid / fit to screen flash site with scrollBar. I am pretty much new to AS3 and flash. I have been looking for a way. To have, a background image contained in a MovieClip. Let's say: bg_mc and have it scaling automatically to fit the different user's Internet browser screens size. In other hand, have another MovieClip that handles and holds the site. Let's say: content_mc without being affected by the scaling of the bg_mc. And last, in the case... the content_mc height does not fit in the user's internet browser. Have the internet browser with its scrollBar so the user can scroll down and see the rest of the site. (right now my content_mc is being cut off the screen).
Examples Flash sites with this layout: [URL]. The Next Code: it does generate a full browser's background image but there is no scroll bar for IE or FireFox and in some cases stretch my content_mc if i play too much with StageScaleMode.
// -----> AS3.0
import flash.display.Stage;
import flash.display.StageScaleMode;
import flash.display.StageAlign;
var myStage:Stage = this.stage;
myStage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;

I have a 100% width and height flash object in my site. Activating and exiting browser full screen mode with F11 only works as long the user didn't click the Flash movie. And I doubt many users know they have to click the address bar to enable F11 after using a (browser) full screen Flash movie.
