ActionScript 2.0 :: Menu's Are Glitchy When Together?
May 8, 2004
I have a question for you actionscript experts! (and novices)[URL]you will notice now 2 of the menu's side by side. What I am trying to apply is actionscript that will tell menu1 to go down - when you mouse over menu2 Here is the code I have now on menu1, and man is it buggy...
Code:
on (rollOver) {
if (_root.menu2_currentframe=24) {
tellTarget ("_root.menu2") {
gotoAndPlay("off");
[code]....
Right now I use a cool inertia effect based on when someone mouseover's the button, it goes to the frame with the effect. Thus making it pop-up.Is there actionscript that exists that just adds the inertia effect or easing effect on mouseover and on mouseout it goes back?

1) What is the problem? Is there a better way to do this smoothly?

I've only played around with a dressup and dating sim - and coding using actionscript (and coding in general, only done a little bit of VB and Python before). I've been following a nice arcade side-scroller tutorial on this site which has three parts, if you want to view and go over them to help. It was designed for Flash 5 and I'm using Flash 8 Pro.[code]Anyway, as I was going through and coding/drawing the whole thing I came across a lot of problems and glitches (and a lot of times when the game coding would crash and I'd have to abort it and remake the entire coding again). I sort of stumbled around blindly, deleting and editing code to get things to work, and I'm up to the point where I'm almost finished with the thing. It's still glitchy though.I was wondering if any Flash coders could help me out?I'm going to be creating a Flash game for my programming class and I would prefer if it wasn't screwy (if I need to remake it with less cutesy graphics). xD;; If you could download the .Fla file and fix the coding problems I have.
Playable SWF game on my deviantart account.FLA downloadable file (@ Mediafire; no viruses, trojans, blahblah attached)The enemies tend to randomly explode before the missile has even hit them.The original enemy movie clip doesn't even want to explode.The score counter won't tick for each kill.The boundary box (?) of the player/enemy seems to be too big. You die before you should - in certain positions the enemy gets close and I guess the boundary boxes hit, which initiates the hitTest. It seems premature though, I'm wondering if I can reduce the boundary box, or have it so the enemy and player collide on the actual graphic, and not the movie clip box? I have no idea if this makes sense, I hope it does.There seems to be a bunch of other small glitches too.
I have a hard to track down bug. Basically, in the main class, in the constructor, I load an xml file.Sometimes it fails to load, without giving an error. Then, when I refresh the page, it loads.It seems like it might be some kind of race condition, but I'm not %100 sure. I though about firing the xml loading code off a timer after one second, but that seems messy.
[URL]. I just created this piece which is two clips embedded in another. I used UILoader to embed each video, and I have scaling = true. Why is it that when I tab back and forth, the maps look slightly different every time? Shouldn't they scale exactly the same way every instance?
I have AIFF streaming audio in Flash CS4 (does it in CS5 too) and it sounds fine in Flash, but when I publish it I get a glitch/noise sound in a few places. It does this no matter what audio format I export, including RAW.The source doesn't have the glitch sound, it doesn't have it in Flash itself, but it does when I publish it.
I have created this site with a expanding / collapsin menu. When a user selects a menu e.g. "hammers" then the menu is loaded and show the submenues. When the users closes the menu by moving the mouse away from the area the menu collapses. If the user expands the menu again the menu should have remember the last visit menu and show the menu.
i want to add new Menu in flash IDE and i want to add inside the adobe flash menu. How i can add new menu in menubar and new menu item inside the help menu. is it possible to do this things if yes then which language i have to use for this. what is way to start development and what is the .MXP file and how to create this .MXP file.
The menu is like this http:[url]... (the site is in portuguese but it doesnt matter), when I click in on menu the actual menu does an alpha to 0 and the next menu appears using the alpha from 0 to 100 (and some animations like the cellphone going up).Now, how can I do a menu like that, whatever the menu I choose, it does that alpha animation ?
i have AS2 coded menu it's working xml but i can add 11 categories.if i add menu item show page out...i want menu item 11 later menu 12 menu 13 in bottom. sorry my english i add flash file and screen
ive followed Senoculars drop-down menu tute [URL], awsome stuff, but it seems the submenu's dont disappear to well when you roll out. ..They only disappear if you click on another menu item or when you click outside the menu.
Basically, I have a button and on click it displays a menu. I want to click that menu a second time and the menu closes. Currently, every time you click the button, the menu reopens. I pasted the Flex livedoc example below. If you click the button, the menu keeps reopening.Now, I rigged it up by setting a var to open and closed, so when clicking the button it does a check. However, if you click away from the screen, the HIDE event gets dispatched, and the menu closes. This messed up the open close var being set.
How could I make this Flex example below show the menu on button click, and then on a second button click, it closes the menu? Take into affect that if you click away from the menu, it closes it.Also, I played around with the MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE event for the button and set the preventDefault, and the FlexMouseEvent event.cancelable is set to false.Changing to a PopUpMenuButton is not an option. I have to much skinning involved.Here is the Flex example:
<mx:Script> <![CDATA[ // Import the Menu control. import mx.controls.Menu;
I'm making my new photography site, and it's going to be entirely in flash. I'm an intermediate flash person, but there is something I'd like to do with my menu that I can't figure out how to do. I'm going to have 4 buttons:
i created an application and it has a menu bar at the top of the stage it also has a loader component below it. i need the loader to load an swf when an item is selected from the menu. Does anybody know how to code this. I am using the following code:
I have created an XML driven Drop Down menu using the kirupa tut by Senocular found here. I am trying to figure out how to get the submenus to push the rest of the main menu down on rollover kind of like this. Not sure where to start to get the AS to get the button created fromt he XML nodes to move down.I haven't changed the code found int he tut too much and the menu works fine except that the rollovers just go over the main menu.
I'm using a Regular.easeIn for a menu, no prob on this, but I can not access to my category will it's still open =>.I meen the category( product_mc) inside the menu (mc_menu1) is not enabled...
import mx.transitions.Tween; import mx.transitions.easing.*; function ouvert(monMenu,haut):Void{[code]....
Each time I make a drop down menu I face some problems, For example, when I use tweening to roll out a menu ( via ROLL_OVER/ ROLL_OUT), sometimes the menu gets stuck, or starts flickering after it is rolled out if I move the cursor away, and move back on it.
How could I solve this, should I use a timer to disable the button until the tween finishes (or this would be good for nothing)?
I would not have asked the question if I owned an iphone, but so far I only have an android phone for development.
The question is: Should I use the View.viewMenuItems that are provided by flex mobile? Or should I better embed the functionality in another way? I don't know what possibilities might exist on iphone to open the menu, because it has no hardware button "menu".
By the way: How could I open the menu in the Flash-Builder mobile device emulator - there are no buttons, too..
I am aware of how to reset the right-click context menu to just "settings", but when the file is opened in Flash Player directly from a computer instead of on the web, the drop-down menu in the player is still available. You can even press ctrl+enter to play. My searches just come up with solutions to the right-click menu, and I have a client who wants me to get rid of this menu for a game I've already made.
I have created a sliding menu. But that is static( the number of rows are fixed). i want to create a menu with the number of rows dynamic.I have attached the fla file here.
have designed a menu that opens into a sub menu that in turn opens up to reveal another menu .the menu is split 5 times too reveal the submenu's the script to do this is a tween that at frame 6 opens the menu and 11 closes it.
This is replicated to form another sumenu
I have declared the menu instance as "menu"
I have declared the submenu instance as "subsect"
I have declared the button to open the submenu as "expander"
using the with action i have told the expanders to tell all the other submenu's to play the closing sequence so that the open menus close when a new menu is opened .this fails to work as the with action cannot find the target .the code on the expander button is as follows
on (press) { gotoAndPlay(5); with (_root.menu.subsect2) {gotoAndPlay(11); [code]............
I'm recreating an xml menu inspired by [URL]... How to change the menu to a horizontal menu with the same submenu animated dropdowns... so basically, I need the main categories to go accross the top and the rest work the same.
I am working on a DVD User Interface for my final project in Photoshop. For extra credit points I am trying to figure out how to make the menu items to light up when the pointer is touching the menu icon.
i need to fire separate method for individual menu item clicked ,so that individual item can handle separate method.and i need know what all the properties are available in menu item like type="radio".
I'm looking to create an infinate menu BUT navigating my menu from left to right using drag rather than the position of the mouse. If there's any links or tutorials around Pleeeeese let me know.
I need a tutorial for a hierarchical drop down menu system that drops down 3 sub levels. Do I make the items in the sub menus individual buttons and then insert them into a movie clip or make every sub menu item a movie clip and insert them into buttons?
I'm using Adobe CS4 Professional flash to create the basis of the website, a photo background with an interactive menu overlay on top. Does anyone know any good tutorials for an interactive menu (roll you mouse over certain things and the sub-menu comes up which lead to other pages of the site etc.)
