This is my first post in this section and forum in general. Keep in mind I don't know AS at all but can do some basic flash.Is it possible to have some object in flash to move outside the flash window over HTML? Something like drop-down menu style.

However I'm not sure exactly which front-end code would deal with this and thought flash developers might know something about it.Is it possible to tilt a flash object in the browser window without altering anything in flash?I've tried googling it but I've either word it badly or received more hits on cellphones than on flash.
View 4 RepliesI have a Flash/Flex object (Flashlight-VNC), which I would like to dynamically resize to fit the entire window after pressing a button in the Flex app. This would preferably happen without restarting the Flex app (and therefore the VNC session). I would just use the built-in Flash fullscreen mode, however Adobe's somewhat silly security restrictions prevent keyboard input while in fullscreen mode.
How exactly can I do this? I'm already using SWFObject to embed the SWF, if that helps. I am open to any solution utilizing ActionScript, JavaScript, or both, however I am not all too familiar with ActionScript or Flex, and the AS-based solutions I have found involve extending a "Sprite" object to add resize functionality, which Flashlight-VNC does not seem to use.
I have a simple HTML file which embeds a Flash file. On the page styling I have a #flashContent with width:100% and height:100%; the Flash object itself has width="100%" and height=100% and is inside a div with id="flashContent". The idea is to make the Flash object (which is a game) to fill the whole browser window even as it resizes.
This works with no problems on IE and Firefox, but there is a small problem on Chrome. About 90% of the time when the page first loads all that is shown is black (the page's background color). The game only appears if the user resizes the window; from then on out it works correctly.
I'd like to ask if there is anything I am doing wrong or if there is an workaround to ensure the Flash game appears correctly on the Chrome browser.
I just saw a standard flash advert which had an object move outside of the flash window (actually it started outside of the flash window and moved into it)Is there any way this could have been done other than manuipulating an identical image using JS and then switching to the flash version as soon as it is in position or using <param="transparant"> (i dont think they used the second method because even white space on the rest of the page did not regester as a flash area when clicked on)I cant show you this because it was being an advert on a major site it was randomly choosen when i went on the site.

So DVD interface will contain three elements; user manual, a flash exe file and video.. Flash video window will be short-time video, playing like 5-10 seconds then repeats itself... My question is, how could I accomplish to put video window playing certain amount of time then repeats itself, in main window? I need as3 fla example, which could be so useful for me..
View 1 RepliesI created a Flash application that reads POST data from a form. A user clicks the button, and the data gets posted to the flash app in a new window (_blank). Now takes the data and then spins a wheel to give users a prize. If they don't win a message pops up letting them know they didn't win. If they don't win, clicking the OK button needs to close the browser window.
I've tried a number of solutions and it seems that the only way to get this done is to launch the window with javascript and then use ExternalInterface.call('window.close'); to close the window from within the Flash actionscript (3) because otherwise the window won't close (I've tried just using window.close and window.close() with no luck)
I understand how to launch a new window with javascript, but I don't know how to simultaneously launch and POST data to that window (the Flash application has to have the POST data. Is this the best solution? Is there a way to close a browser window easier than what I'm describing?[URL]

View 9 RepliesI've been playing around with a code that keeps a specific object on the center of the movie when the window is re-sized. It works well but here is the issue: I don't want the object to be centered at the very center of the window but on a specific x,y coordinate. How can I modify this code to assign an x,y coordinate so that the object will be "centered" in reference to that coordinate?
Next, is the code. "centerlogo" is the object to be centered and "backgroundImage" is as the name implies the background. I know that what i ask has to do with the part under the "//center content" comment

Just starting my first project using AS3 and using SWFObject to embed in HTML to get a full 100% width/height flash (photography site so needs to fill entire window, especially with widescreen).Is using SWFObject the best way, and what do you think the best width/height stage dimensions are?

This works fine in Firefox but in IE it doesnt work, I then change the /v/ in the youtube link with /p.swf?video_id= and now I have the window open showing the small youtube thumbnail of my video but once a click play, nothing happens, I check it and is not loading anything.
I have this situation where i'm trying to save "chat logs" while people switch around views in my flex mobile application..so, my plan is i'm starting out with a main object that I plan to re-use as the main chat log object..I call it textObjso, when someone new wants to chat my plan is to make a new object with the persons username.so how if i were to get the username from something like data.username how could I translate that into the var name of the object I want to make? View 3 RepliesSo I have this AIR app coded in flex where I have several floating native windows and what I want is to detect when a user clicks outside of a window so that I can close it. (I don't want to use the PopupManager Class and would want to use the native windows).
My question is, is there a way to detect a click outside of a spark window, or alternativley is there some root container/object which is a parent to all the native windows so that a click inside any native window would bubble up to it? (Apparently the stage object of the root windowed application is not that object since each window is not a child of the stage for the root application).

I'm trying to create a pop up window in Flash which also fades the background window to 75% black. When the user closes the pop up window, I'd like for the parent window to un-fade back to normal. Is this possible? I can do the first half of it and make the background window fade to 75% black. The difficult thing is making it fade back to normal when the user closes the pop up window.My thoughts are that I need to attach some code to the browser's built in close window button. It might require some javascript or a fscommand. I'm not sure.

2. can i put a link in my movie that will open a new window of a specific size, and without the menu-buttons of explorer?
Go to [URL]. Click on "The Photos". It will pop up in a fullscreen window. Try resizing the window and you'll notice that the background is vector and it looks like the scale mode is set to "showAll". BUT, the photos look like they have a separate scale mode set to "noScale". They don't resize.

I have a window, the window I programmatically change the size of the window depending on the current view it is displaying. The user cannot resize the window them self, but they can maximize the window.
The problem is if the view is changed while it is maximized, the maximized window size changes, I do not want this, I want it to only change the size of the non-maximized window.
My first thought is to just check if the window is maximized, and if so do not resize it...but the issue there is then when it is restored at a different view then when it was maximized it will not restore to the new size it should be.
I have a Adobe Air app (AS3, not Flex) that has 2 windows. When I click away from them onto another desktop program, I get an "Deactivate" Event (as you would expect).When I click on say Window#1 I get an "Activate" Event (as you would expect).But when I go from Window#1 to Window#2, I get nothing. And I believe this is because the Air application is still the active program, Just a Different Window.
But I have the need to know when I go from 1 window to another.The horrible solutions I have come up with so far is to have an onEnterFrame and check if the current window is the active window. But I would much prefer to do it a much better way that such a hack.I have gone though Stage, NativeApplication and Native Window Events and none of them do what I need. Can anyone point me to another Event I may have overlooked?
