i wanted to place some credits item in the right button menu (no links, so no events, just a label with credits). i was looking the contextmenu help, and there is an example of how to add items, disable default items and so on, but i could not find how to attach the menu to the movie (the basic part). i tried both on 'stage' and it tells me that stage does not have a property called contextMenu, so i tried to attach it to a sprite, it runs ok and compiles ok but when i right click on the sprite i get the default menu

View 12 RepliesAnybody know how to create a custom context menu (right click menu) in Flash?
If it's not possible, wouldn't it be a good idea for Macromedia to put some kind of event or something in there?
var contextMenu:ContextMenu = new ContextMenu();
contextMenu.hideBuiltInItems();
var contactList : ContextMenuItem = new ContextMenuItem("Add to Existing List");
[Code]....
All coding on contactListItemRenderer.as and call to datagrid like
<mx:DataGridColumn itemRenderer="com.view.Contact.ContactListItemRenderer"
dataField="fullName" headerText="Full Name" />
I want to create a context menu item that is similar to the Quality in built-in items here:[URL]
View 8 RepliesWithin a Chrome extension, how can I inject items into the context menus of 3rd party flash objects?
Is it possible to simply inject items using JavaScript? Is it possible to wrap the players in a container .swf that adds our context menu item along with the items included by the original swf?
Edit: To be clear, what I'd like to do with my extension is add a context menu item to any 3rd party Flash program. So for instance, if a user visits YouTube, I'd like to add my own menu item along with YouTube's custom items.
does anyone know how to make right clicking work in as3?i don't want a context menu to appear, i just want it to work as an EventListener for MovieClips.For example, imagine that RIGHT_CLICK is a MouseEvent, it would look like this:[code]i know the code wont end up looking like this, but does anyone know how to pull off this same idea using a right click?[code]

then where do i tell it that i want to have the MouseEvent EventListener on my movieclip labeled "mastButton" ?(obviously i know its not really a MouseEvent but do u know what i mean? like how to i link this right click event TO a particular movieclip?)
I noticed that when I publish my fla., the right-click context menu gives any person viewing the site the option to download the .swf (although the menu calls it a video) to their hard drive. That's krazy...In any event, I need to disable the option in the right-click menu. I read the tech report at Adobe
View 5 RepliesSince this is my first post here, I'd like to say hi to you all, and glad to be where I can share both enthuisasm and possible issues with Adobe Flash in general.And, regarding this first post, I'll be more than glad if someone could help me with this.It's a simple straight forward issue: Can a link of "Settings" inside Context (Right Click) Menu be placed in a movie as a simple link that opens it in a same manner (as in pic 2)?
View 1 RepliesCan anyone tell me if there is any way by which I can disable the right-click menu in Flash (SWF not EXE) , completely (I don't even want the About Macromedia.. link). I know that its possible to add ContextMenu items but I don't want to show the Settings.. or the About Macromedia.. items too.
View 9 RepliesI have javascript making my swf enabled for right-click interaction (which means no context menu), but for some specific movie clips I actually do want the context menu to show on right click. I was thinking to do this I need some action script code that will open the context menu without a right click, since the javascript blocks the swf from knowing a right click has occured (the swf only knows that the javascript has told it to run some function).
The context menu method display(stage:Stage, stageX:Number, stageY:Number) sounds like it would have done the trick, but that is for AIR only.
Is there possibility to mark options in right click context menu ?
For example, if you right click on Windows bar, Lock the Taskbar is checked (marked).
When I attempt to select an item from the right click context menu, it sems as though the mouse "jumps". If I click repeatedly enough sometimes it will trigger the selected item. It only seems to be a problem on Windows FireFox/Chrome. It works fine on Windows IE, Mac Firefox/Chrome/Safari. Any ideas?I've added a function that displays a white halo when you mouse down to show where the computer is interpreting the mouse click.

I have an array for my menu and submenus.It works fine, but I have to click again on the menu to close it.When it's open it's completly open it takes too much space.how I could make a menu close when I click on another menu item..this is the code on the frame on my main timeline:
MenuArray=new array();
MenuArray[1]=menu1;
MenuArray[2]=menu2;[code].....
I'm currently using a flash template for my online portfolio, but I've noticed that if you right click anywhere, it brings up the standard flash right-click menu with the following items:
Settings
Global Settings
About Flash Player 10
But directly above is a separate menu item that says "Made by JWD" and that takes you to a different website if you click it. I have the .fla file for the gallery - can I remove this menu item?
I have a menu system with 2 parts not connecting. I can't figure out how to write the code to make them work.
I have a movieClip with a dynamically created list of menu titles as an array from an AS3 file. My menu bars are linked to an AS3.0 file. The array is "empty" in the AS file to be added dynamically in the fla file.
1. I want to have one menu title flush left, then be able to add a submenu title indented with a different style to that same list. I have the listItem linking to an AS3.0 file now. I've got the main list working but not an indented submenu. How do I add that?
2. I need to be able to load a swf file when a menu item is clicked. How do I target the 'current' item clicked when added dynamically?[code]...
I'm having a major brain fog right now...I'm trying to add a click event for each menu item that is loaded from an XML file.
See code below:
function xmlLoaded(event:Event):void
{
xml = XML(event.target.data);
xmlList = xml.children();
[Code].....
So basically everytime a click event occurs on a menu item, the related url from the xml file will be called. However the trace(imgURL) only shows the last item loaded from the XML file which makes sense.
I just can't see how to modify the code so the unique url is associated with each unique menu item click event.
How do I create a cool effect where when I click on a menu item, the layout chages size according to the size of the content on the page.URL...How did he do it? Actionscript or just transitions?

I'm trying to get the menu width of a menu item in flex 4. I can get it but I have to show the menu first, then hide the menu, do a calculation, and show it again. Is there an easier way to get the item menu width without this hassle?
View 1 RepliesI am aware of how to reset the right-click context menu to just "settings", but when the file is opened in Flash Player directly from a computer instead of on the web, the drop-down menu in the player is still available. You can even press ctrl+enter to play. My searches just come up with solutions to the right-click menu, and I have a client who wants me to get rid of this menu for a game I've already made.
View 2 Replieshow to make a sub-menu for a flash context menu. I have tried to create a menu item that is a menu in itself, but it wouldn't work.
View 1 RepliesI have been working on a Flash movie that loads variable data from an external XML file and dynamically displays the item names in a menu which may then be clicked to display other dynamically-loaded content that corresponds to the menu item that was clicked. I have now come to a standstill in the project as there is something I'd like to achieve but simply cannot work out how. This is my first attempt at working with XML in Flash and one of my early attempts at using variables. What I'm trying to achieve is; once the user has viewed the item's content, they can simply click "next" and "previous" buttons to display all of the content for the next or previous items in the XML document.
I know it probably sounds simple and I'm sure some of you could achieve this in 5 minutes (!) but I can't get my head around some of the coding. I assume previousSibling and nextSibling would come into play here as well as some sort of functions which access arrays of data for the previous and next items, but I'm just not sure how to correctly put these things to use. Rather than post my code and example images of the stage up here on the forums, I've created an html page here: [URL]
i want to add new Menu in flash IDE and i want to add inside the adobe flash menu. View 1 RepliesBasically, I have a button and on click it displays a menu. I want to click that menu a second time and the menu closes. Currently, every time you click the button, the menu reopens. I pasted the Flex livedoc example below. If you click the button, the menu keeps reopening.Now, I rigged it up by setting a var to open and closed, so when clicking the button it does a check. However, if you click away from the screen, the HIDE event gets dispatched, and the menu closes. This messed up the open close var being set.
How could I make this Flex example below show the menu on button click, and then on a second button click, it closes the menu? Take into affect that if you click away from the menu, it closes it.Also, I played around with the MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE event for the button and set the preventDefault, and the FlexMouseEvent event.cancelable is set to false.Changing to a PopUpMenuButton is not an option. I have to much skinning involved.Here is the Flex example:
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
// Import the Menu control.
import mx.controls.Menu;
[code]....
I have made a drop down menu with 7 items but as the invisible bottun around each item interferes with the item besid it, when i try to roll the mouse from one item to another, the invisible bottum dont work and the dropdown remains open.
