May 27, 2009I'm helping w/ the website at our church and came across the "Flash Random Quotes" tutorial here on kirupa.com at:url..How can I do something like this, but I want the quotes to randomly display about every 10 seconds, as long as the page is open.I don't want to only have one, single random quote on page load.I'm tasked to have a random display of ongoing "testimonies" on our church website. Right now, I'm using jquery, but it's quirky (as you can see below), but the worst thing is, it isn't random - it loads the testimonies in order that they are listed in the sidebar.php file. So, everybody that visits reads the same few testimonies at the beginning, and doesn't see the other ones.I'd rather try and use Flash to pull random testimonies from the quotes file ... but I don't want it to only show one ... I want it to show a random testimony, then about 10 seconds later, show another random one, etc.

Oct 27, 2010Flash Tranformation Matrix via JsFL. I have to write a JsFL script that creates a text on my Flash scene, and rotate it with a random angle. Imagine I want to create and rotate a "Hello World!" at 45 degrees, my code looks like that:

The problem is : the rotation applied to my text is 58.3 instead of 45. I have to admit that I'm kind of noob with matrix... so I used the "matrix transformation for rotation" here : [URL].

Jan 20, 2009I have been making a memory game, where words are shown to the user. Once they have memorised the words they go to the next screen where the words that they have memorised are shown. They then have to drag each word into a "correct" place and a "wrong" place. I now want to edit it so that I can use two arrays one for correct words and one for wrong words. I want to generate random words from each of these arrays. I have sort of worked out how this is possible to do but using dynamic text, but am I correct in thinking that the whole dragging the words thing is not possible with dynamic text. (I may be wrong though, I am quite new to flash).

The trick is that I want it to randomly load a different chunk of text in each time the user opens the site. There are about 25 different small pieces of text I want to randomly load.
I'm thinking of using XML to store the 25 different text sentences, but am open to other ideas.

Sep 30, 2006I want a movieclip consisting of a dynamic text box that, from the time it's loaded onto the stage, loads a randomly selected text string from an array, and continues to loop until the clip is removed from the stage. I also want the text strings to appear in the text box for random intervals between 500 and 3000 milliseconds.
While I've found tutorials here and elsewhere on loading one element from an array, usually triggered by a button, I don't know how to combine/alter it with the other elements.So I want this movieclip on the stage randomly flashing phrases from an array, some for a barely perceptible time, and others for a readable time.

The below works, but I was wondering if there was a way that I could set it up so that I could just copy and paste a list of names to the text file, ie have the " &name2 =" in the actionscript or in a different file. I think to use a while loop? to put cAns in one of the .text and cAns + Math.random for the other 3 .text i dunno it's correct. i tired something like Ans(Math.ceil(Math.random()*3)).text = cAns; but i wonder abt how the other 3 .text and this way didn't seem to work too.

Nov 24, 2011All I want is to create multiple animated textboxes to slide horizontally from one side of the screen to the other and repeat indefinitely in a loop. Now the 'trick' is that I need the textbox contents to be selected at random from an array and for the speed, size and opacity to vary as well (to give a sense of depth, like the 'Parallax' effect).So, the final effect is multiple random strings of text sliding horizontally across the screen at the same time, some appearing closer than others.I'm positive I've seen this effect explained online before, but for the life of me I can't summon the right keywords to bring up a relevant article in my searches (keep getting lots of text scroller tutorials).If anyone knows of any tutorials out there to accomplish something like the above

Feb 5, 2010generate random text with the click of a button. I have followed the kirupa.com tutorial for 'loading random quotes' but I am still getting a few undesirables. Firstly, I am generating an 'undefined' result occasionally. (Even with the example text from the tutorial). I have 5 quotes as per the example, but still get undefined as a result from time to time. Also, how would I go about altering the code so the same quote wasn't generated immediately after itself?

Oct 2, 2005I've done a search and can't seem to find the right actionscript to add to a movieclip to make it appear as though it was just floating in place. Nothing complicated just a small random floating action where it's almost as though the letter is just sitting there in 0 gravity. Just slight enough movement to give it a little bit of interest.
I could make keyframes in a movieclip that would do this, but I'd like it to be a little bit more random than that. Plus, actionscripting the effect would lowere the file size.
