View 11 RepliesI have three images and I want change the images size based on the scene size (default size is 1024x768). After each image has completely loaded I call bindableUtils.setter to set width/height when scene size changes but I don't know how to make a pointer or something like that. I'm using a public var img, but it only works with the last complete image.

This is a very basic code to load images from images folder to an empty movie clip name "container" , Now how can define so that once loaded they will not loaded the images again and again by clicking them continously. I do not make the button "disable" and " enable" continously and think this is a not a good try.

View 1 RepliesI can get by and make nice flash sites, but I'm still learning what goes where and am still borrowing code to get by.I've laid the problem out in some detail as I am sure that will save a lot of questions later on, but feel free to ask if you want more info.Problem is as follows: I've built a two scene flash site using open source code for the preloader scene:[code]The main scrolling menu scene works great when it's a one scene movie and the preloader code works fine with a load of other sites I've built, but when I put them together on this site (the code for the scrolling menu precludes the addition of a preloader directly into that scene so separate scenes are a necessity) everything goes to pot.When testing the site (both as a standalone SWF file and when embedded in an HTML file) the preloader works fine and the main scene appears correctly, but when you click on any button to move back or forth along the menu/timeline it jumps and jerks along very roughly and stops short of its designated point.
This causes the whole scene to fail as the designated timeframe for each button contains a movie instance that won't function until the specific timeframe is reached.It's odd behavior and I'm stumped as both chunks of code work fine separately.I've even tried a much simpler preloader that doesn't display percentage or anything, it just cycles between frame one and two until the movie loads and then plays it (just like this one, but with no bells or whistles).Unfortunately my lack of actionscript knowledge prevents me from even finding a simple term to sum up the problem so I've failed to find any similar issues on any forums or Google.

View 1 Repliesive made a button in the scene 1 which i have managed to navigate to scene 2 but when i click the button it goes to scene 2 but displays everthing that is in scene 1 in scene 2, how can sort this out so upon the button click in scene 1 it goes to scene 2 and only display content in scene2.

No matter WHAT I have tried.... a sniffer, no sniffer, stand alone on a webpage by itself.This slash file which is in a popup window 600x400 will not display 600x400 in firefox. It always is 20-40 px larger in both directions. I can't take it anymore!! What the hell is the matter with firefox his file is 6 years old for gosh sakes. It works and has worked online for years... so whats the Firefox problem all the sudden I am begging !If I can find a good flash designer who knows php, js, and html well, I am going to have future projects. But this little gem is a good promotional tool.... but the problem is......... FIREFOX wont display it right ! And why does firefox INSIST on putting the location bar in html popup windows! The window is the right size 600x400.... the flash is not... even with dimension definitions

I have a movie that opens up full screen and load an external movie into it. No problem there but I want the loaded movie to keep its original size and not resize with the full screen movie. In the screenshot, you see how the yellow external movie loads into the fullscreen green movie. The white rectangle is only for size reference (photoshopped it in) and is not in the actual flash movies. The yellow movie is supposed to be 800x125 pixels but resizes with the fullscreen of the green movie.

Which is the better way: to use scenes or only using movie clips?
I've got a scrolldown menu and want a button w/in that MC to point back to a frame in Scene 1 on the main timeline. How would I do that? I tried the following code but it doesn't work. The frame I'm trying to get to is "facelift" (the site is for a plastic surgeon).

I import Jpeg or any other images into flash , and I can click on it in the library and see the image, but when I bring it onto the movie scene, I just see the squares and the image is faded, it seems like it has brought the opacity of the image all the way down to zero , no matter what image type I save I get the same result, PNG, BitMap, GIF , is there anything I gotta do in preferences ?
View 1 Repliesok we are talking about as2 here. here is the thing thats bugging me. I made an animation in a movie clip. It is in the first frame of my main(and only) scene which is called "main". At the end of the animation in my movie clip ive set up a frame with the following script:
gotoAndStop("main", 2);
but instead of going to the second frame on my main scene, it goes to the second frame in the movie clip and stops there.
I have a function "GetTime()" in the actions layer of Scene1 In Scene 1 I have a MovieClip called seconds_mc in the actions layer of seconds_mc I want to have a Enter_Frame Event that calls GetTime(). addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, ????.myFunction) What replaces the question marks to get me to the function on Scene1?

You'll have to look at it to see for yourselves.My main problem is that I would like to try to add buttons to the scrolling 'menu' movie clips, that would enable me to go to a new scene. I've tried the '_parent.gotoAndPlay(2)' etc, but due to my very basic knowledge of action-scripting I can't get it to work.

View 6 RepliesI'm trying to call a scene from a movie clip. But nothing works. I tried to label the first frame in the second scene but that didn't work, root and crap also failed. I'm deparate. I was trying to link the chalkboard from the first scene (clipboard) to the second scene (board). There is a button within the movieclip I'm trying to use, but it just doesn't work.

Keep in mind the swf file i am calling was generated with Macromedia Captivate and i dont have a way of editing through flash that I am aware of. I need some time of code that tells scene 2 to go to scene 3 when the external swf file is done playing at 737 frames. Ok here is what i have: all on one frame
1. stop action
2. a label for navigation purposes

Problem 1. I am using actionscript to call the external swf file. I have a preloader that is working somewhat. It preloads the movie with a bar and when it reaches around 60%-70% it starts playing the movie too soon and the bar doesnt go away till it is full. So you see the movie playing with the bar still loading for a bried time.
Problem 2 (bigger problem that 1). After the movie plays it stops and doesnt go to the next scene because I had to put a stop action on the first frame for the preloader to work. So it plays the external file in the container but doesnt move on to the next frame or scene.
I had a friend try this approach and got an error: Make a MC that has an action script that says..

That sounds like logical but isnt working. The error I am getting is: **Error** Symbol=loader_helper, layer=Layer 1, frame=1:Line 1: Clip events are permitted only for movie clip instances

im not still working on the project currently... but... im just curious about somthin... i was making a website for a project for school... and i was calling movie clips within movie clips with a lot of telltarget... then within one of them i had a button and i wanted to go to the second scene... but it wouldnt work... it wouldnt go to the scene... my friend had the same problem with somthing he was working on... im just curious if there is a way... like maybe a path or somthing for the scene...
oh yeah... also say i have a movie clip called "clip1" and a movie clip within "clip1" called "clip2"... ok... if i am in "clip2"... is there a way i can access "clip1" from inside of it... like using telltarget sort of inside out like i guess...
I have in the Scene 1, on layer 2, Frame 2 a movie clip named "Festival_conteudo_mc".And inside of this i have a buton ( close_btn ) that I would like to close this movie clip and go to the Scene 1 - to the main menu.On Scene 1 I have my menu buttons ( Festival and Contacts ).
The problem is that i dont know how to make them communicate, I've tryed _root, and As3 tells me it doesnt exist and its replace by Stage...I too new in this stuff. What happens when i put

just wanted to know is there a way to pause all the movie clips except 1 in a scene. Coz i want a scene where everything is playing and when an action occurs to a movie clip, it continues playing but pauses the rest halfway through their animations.......
