ActionScript 2.0 :: Save Date With The Ability To Edit Later
Sep 28, 2007
I have an app that allows you to save data into a database and gives you the ability to edit that data at a later date. Let's say the user saves
"Up to 90% off retail price"
Everything works fine, the % gets saved in the table etc. The problem is when they return to Flash it now reads
"Up to 90 off retail price"
All I'm doing is taking the value of the variable and sticking inside a text box, I can't see why Flash is having trouble reading that value into a text box. I am making this data into an html ready textbox.
Code:
The % can be in any of the array element values
listValues[10], etc....
Property Values Array
editedPropertyHighlights = new Array(listValues[10], listValues[11], listValues[12], listValues[13]);
// POPULATE TEXTBOX
for (i=0; i<editedPropertyHighlights.length; i++) {
_root.base_front.display_txt_6.html = true;
_root.base_front.display_txt_6.htmlText += "<li>"+editedPropertyHighlights[i]+"</li>";
}
I'm wondering if purepdf has the ability to save formatted text from a user-inputted text field. If so, how is this achieved? From what I understand, purepdf is basically iText, and I believe iText has the ability to parse HTML and save formatted text into a PDF. Does purepdf have that same functionality that I can tap into and plug in 'textfield.htmlText' somewhere?
How to edit the .fla file code and save it in the .swf format? I downloaded the trial version of adobe flash.I am able to see the output frame but not source code.
So, I've got a component that changes selected text fields case to Title, Sentence, or ALL CAPS.
Below is the code for all caps.
Code: function fnAll(e:MouseEvent):void{ var numItems:int = int(MMExecute("fl.getDocumentDOM().selection.length")); for(var i:int = 0; i < numItems; i++){
[Code]....
If you open a file, change the text case, then save it without doing anything else: It doesn't save the changes made with this control. If you change the case, then alter the file using the IDE (cut/paste the text, shift it, draw something and delete it, etc) THEN it saves the changes.
So it seems that the case alteration by itself is not recognized by the IDE, so it doesn't think the file changed, and doesn't actually save it.
I'm creating an in-house application in flash for my company. I'm pulling a ton of info from a single XML file located on our server. Ten interns will be using the application on their laptops (Air 2.0). Having the data load and populate the application is not a problem. I would like them (in the application) to be able to edit an existing node value (loaded from the XML) and save it (back to the XML file) so that the XML file updates with the new value and the other 9 interns would see the change on their application.
I figure I'll need some kind of php set up, but everything I've read so far deals with creating new nodes. I need to edit and update existing node values from an existing loaded file.
Here's a very simple example of the XML:
HTML Code: <INVENTORY> <CODE>x1234561</CODE> <NAME>Code1</NAME>
I used the kirupa drawing tutorial to create a simple doodle application.[code]I really need a way to save the doodle created to a server and then reload it at a later date. It could either be as a file or as data that meant it could be redrawn.I've looked into exporting as a bitmap but the methods seem very complex and also slow/relatively large file sizes (it is only a simple doodle application!!!)url...but it doesn't even seem to be working on the site. I had a look at the code but couldn't really get to the bottom of how it worked.Is there no easy way to save a movieclip out as an swf file dynamically?
[URL] I got partial success with the tutorial above, but couldn't figure out a few things.
1) How to save the date and time to the database? Based on web search result on how to find date or time in APS, I thought I could do
[Code]...
but the ASP generated errors on the 2 lines.
2) When executing the file (getURL("http://yourSite.com/processForm.asp",0,"post"); }), it always opens the processForm.asp file in a new window. Can it be executed in the same window or just being hidden?
The tutorial is old, and I wonder if there are new ways to do the things with CS4 or CS5?
how it is possible to edit dynamic content and modify the content and save it, all within flash.I have tried some experiments in the past and have got the text to change etc which is easy but i need a way to save the content so the next time anybody sees the flash it will have the latest content until i change it again.
I have an Access Database (doesn't need to be Access, I can phpAdmin or mysql, whatever will work) that has a list of names. I want the user to open a Flash form and have the names load up into seperate input boxes for each name. The user can then change the names, move them, whatever, and then save the record. I want it to just overwrite the record. I donlt want create a new record. I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out. I have tried to find some tutorials but nothing makes sense. Is ASP a good way to go? I have been struggling with this for a week now.
So I choose "Edit in Photoshop CS5" edit the stuff I want but what do I do after I'm done? I tried saving it but it doesn't do anything in Flash I don't see the changes.
I'm actually relatively new to flash and actionscript but I could say I have fair knowledge about them. So anyway, I usually build flash websites the traditional way using timeline animation and scripting. Today I had a job interview and they said they're looking for someone who can develop any web design into a Flash CMS with a back-end office for the client to edit the content without having to edit the FLA file or any code.
Accordingly, I'd like to know where and how to start. What are the main concepts I should follow/adapt?
Today is 28-05-2010, so I need to list Event 01. On 01-06-2010 I need to list Event 02. I have the basic AS3 code for listing the XML working, but I'm having trouble filtering the result.
I'm trying build a simple band site using flash and as2. All I want to have is a page listing shows that sorts them according to date and also when the show date has passed drops that entry from view.I can do this easily enough with a database and php but want to learn how to do it in actionscript. Here is what I currently have, shows load from the xml file into a simple textbox:
Code: scrollBar.target = shows_txt; showsXML = new XML();
I'm using flash CS4 and actionscript 2.0. I have a situation where I need to locate and check the date of an external file (either .exe or .swf) and return that date string to a variable in flash. I then need to display that date to a piece of dynamic text within the flash file. Is there a function within action script that will check and retrieve the file date of an external file.
my date of string like (2009-12-03 21:05:00) date with time . so i used to store var newdate:Date=new Date(Date.parse(startdate)); but shows some errors.and also i tried to split string(date) used date function likevar datenumber:Number= (new Date(Date.parse(startdate))).getDate();
Does anyone know how to get actionscript to render a null date value '000:00:00T00:00:00'? I am calling a web service that expects date fields in the SOAP xml. I need some of these dates to serialize as null and I can't see how to produce null. The closest value I can get is '1899-11-30T00:00:00Z'. Below is the code I am using:
I'm trying to determine the difference in time between todays date and a future date. I only need to determine how many months and days it is between todays date and this future date. Anyone know of any prebaked scripts anywhere for determining what todays date is and subtracting it from the end date would be? [code]So if today's date is less then the end date I'd like to determine how many months and days are left until the end date is reached and display the number of months and days until that end date.
I'm trying to get a random date in a date range and this is what i have so far but it doesnt seem to be working ? Where I'm I Going wrong ?Gets the date difference
private function differenceBetweenDates(date1:Date, date2:Date):Number{ var MS_PER_DAY:uint = 1000 * 60 * 60 * 24;[code]..........
I have an mx:DateField in my Flex UI that has a formatString="dd.mm.yyyy" attached to it. However, the initial value for that field may not be in the format specified/defined for the DateField (due to legacy reasons). So, currently, if I just set that value (text) on the DateField, the field is shown empty. I think because it fails to accept the value in a format different than what's configured.
I have 2 DateFields named startDate and endDate I want to set startDate's Selected date to Current months start date and endDate's Selected date to Current months End date.
I need some scripts for the countdown with a current date like 01.30.2009 to count down to meet the deadline - 04.16.2009. how to do that except I can only build a very simple countdown.
