I have an input textbox that the user can type in, and a custom scrollbar. The problem is that whilst the user types, the scrollbar stays in the same position, and when the user clicks it they're taken to the first line. This is extremely frustrating, especially if you've typed a lot of text. convert my scrollbar to move with the textbox?

I have three MCs in a proximty menu (ie when the mouse is close they go to the mouses position and follow it).
My question is, I want the MCs to be joined by a 1px line and when the MC moves the line stretches and moves with it...how do I do this?

I have MC masked with TEXT,when the user moves his mouse down more text appears from the bottom and when he moves it goes bakc to the original position...I do not want the mouse wheel .. I woudl like to do it by mouse hovering...

View 5 RepliesWhen a Dynamic Multiple line text field is used in Flash CS3, it has a very annoying feature that auto inserts a line break at the end of inserted text. It also auto inserts a line break if no text is entered too.
I'm having a problem with this because the text is being saved from flash to a text file on the desktop. With every multi-line text field there's a nasty looking line break.
Any way of "turning off" this auto-line-break-at-the-end feature?

i am encounting a problem where my text moves up and down as the animation is running. I have embeded my fonts for readibility, even for animation, actually i have tried almost everything and sometimes it still jumps.
I have been looking all over the place and cannot find a proper solution.
I have an input textfield, and when I click in it, all the text in the textfield moves to the left so you can't see it anymore. (Here is a screen shot of it with both textfields having "100" in them after clicking in the top one:'ve tried playing around with the different textfield properties (autoSize, condenseWhite..) and can't find one that fixes this.
View 5 RepliesI have an empty textbox with the basic scroll bar component. Nothing is in the text box so the arrows are greyed out on the scrollbar. I have a button that loads text into the textbox, but the component does not update itself to accomodate text that is larger than the text box.
how can I make it so that the scrollbar changes when text is added.....also If I put text in the text box in flash, when I publish it gets the scrollbar fine, but it will not adjust itself when I click on the button that loads different text into the text box. what happens is the scroll bar stays the same regardless on the size of the loaded text.
I'm building a site and I would like to add a scrollbar to a text area that swaps out xml text files. Currently, I have up and down arrows to scroll the text, but I would like to have an actual scrollbar instead since there is a lot of text in some of the sections. I can make the scrollbar work just fine if I put the text in the first frame, but whenever I set it up to call on text files, then the scroll bar won't work. Obviously, I'm pretty new at Flash. I've attached an FLA with the text box.

I'm using Flash MX to create a website. The user navigates between different scenes/frames using buttons, just like moving to different pages in html (except the "pages" are different parts of the main movie's timeline).The problem I'm having is that on two embedded movie clips there are text boxes which dynamically load html-formatted text files (news updates for different topics). When I run the movie, both of these "pages"/"frames" work beautifully, but after the first time, when I come back to either of them, the dynamic text boxes' scrollbars have disappeared and the up/down scroll buttons don't work. By clicking on the loaded text and dragging I can force it to scroll, so all the content is there, but the controls are gone.
I've been searching forums for a couple of hours on this now and the only thing I found was someone found a similar issue on CS3 which required giving scrollbars instance names (which I did) and then inserting Actionscript telling them to update--and that is a bit beyond me. Is there something I have to type in when the text loads to get it to do that?The script I'm using to load the text into the fields is as basic as it gets (and obviously cut and pasted from somewhere else):

I know that using delta of the scrollEvent will give me direction but everytime i try to increment and decrement the y value of the image the image doesn't follow the line of text perfectly it tends to "crawl" if you will.

I made a scrollbar, but now I have a problem, need to read the number of lines of Dynamic text field and if it is greater than x show the scrollbar and hide if is less. Like this:

My problem is how do I count the total lines of dynamic text field after load a external text.
Is there any way to make line breaks when you load text into a dynamic text box, other than using html? And if not, could someone give me an example of how to do it using html?

I have made the editable text field and scroll bar and set all of my preferences, but when the typing reaches the border on the right of the text field it just continues to type further horizontaly. I can start a new line by pressing enter but I would like it to start a new line on its own when it reaches the boundary.
