ActionScript 2.0 :: Add A Scrollbar To A Text Area That Swaps Out Xml Text Files

I'm building a site and I would like to add a scrollbar to a text area that swaps out xml text files. Currently, I have up and down arrows to scroll the text, but I would like to have an actual scrollbar instead since there is a lot of text in some of the sections. I can make the scrollbar work just fine if I put the text in the first frame, but whenever I set it up to call on text files, then the scroll bar won't work. Obviously, I'm pretty new at Flash. I've attached an FLA with the text box.

I need to put together an editable text area that has a custom caret (cursor) which is different from the default blinking vertical line. Is the caret a "skinnable" property of text input? note that I am not asking about the mouse pointer cursor which can be set using the CursorManager.

I have an empty textbox with the basic scroll bar component. Nothing is in the text box so the arrows are greyed out on the scrollbar. I have a button that loads text into the textbox, but the component does not update itself to accomodate text that is larger than the text box.
how can I make it so that the scrollbar changes when text is added.....also If I put text in the text box in flash, when I publish it gets the scrollbar fine, but it will not adjust itself when I click on the button that loads different text into the text box. what happens is the scroll bar stays the same regardless on the size of the loaded text.

1) I can't figure out how to have URL links in the text that loads.
2) How can I make the scroller refresh to allow for new text in the dynamic text area. The content changes alright, but the scroller stays in the same position and if it wasn't needed initially, the scroller disappears and doesn't return on new text.

We successfully uploaded the *.doc and *.docx files in application by using FileReference and FileReferenceList. Would you please tell me some idea to read the contents from *.doc and *.docx files and to display the uploaded file content into flex text area.

I would like to first add the xml to my flash. Fine I can do this.But I have a number of buttons, where when I click say CW1, i get the information from the XML file with a node of CW1. I have all the xml set up fine.As I have about eight different postcode types.
ST, CW, CH, TF, WV, WS, DE, SK, SY, and each of these may have numbers that follow, i.e ST1, ST2, ST3 and so forth.
So I can only assume that the postal area could be the main nodes, and the numbers inside the child nodes, am I right thus far.o how can i load the area of the xml file into my text area on mouse click, pulling the information relating.

I have some text selected in a text areacomponent. I get a callback from another program (externalinterface included) to remove the selection. How do i deselect theselected text and retain the text without selection? I have read onthe .selected, .editable, .setSelected etc, but Im not getting it.This same prob exists with a normal text input type, it doesntdeselect there too.

I'm playing around with a messaging type of application. Does anyone know how, or of any tutorials on to "appending" html text to text areas in flex and flex mobile projects? And specifically how I could take that and basically "append" a sprite inline to the text when i need to? Basically, my whole website's going to be in Flash, but I want to be able to update one page (sort of a news/blog page) without having to edit the Flash file every time. I'm assuming the easiest way to do this would be to set up either a scroll pane or a text box and pull the text in from a .txt file. That way I could continue to add on to the .txt file, and Flash would always pull in the current version. So, my issues are:
1. I have no idea where to start with the code for something like that. Is it a LoadVar? Do I physically put a scroll pane or a text area in the frame and put the action on that, or do I put the action on the frame and have it call up a text area component?
2. Will the text scroll automatically, or is that something else I would have to add in? I plan on adding to this text file for awhile, so it could end up being a lot of text over time.
3. Would I be able to format the text in the .txt at all? For instance, if I hit enter to put in a paragraph break, would that register once it's pulled into Flash, or would I have to put in an html paragraph break or something? That may be a dumb question, but as I said, I'm not exactly fluent in ActionScript (or any other programming language for that matter).

I am trying to display an HTML formated file in the text Area.It should be straightforward task using the following code:

No text is displayed with that code.It does work when an ordinary text is used and myCV_TA.html/text is changed to myCV_TA.text.Tried many things and decided to live with the simple text file and apply some formating to it://----create textformat object

I have a scrollbar, this charge some external text, but the trouble is the next. I charge different text in the same text box when i move the scroll to down and charge another text the scroll continue in the same position i left the last time. I'm having a problem adding numbers that are loaded to dynamic text boxes. I'm using AS 2 (Flash 8). The numbers are loaded to the textboxes from a text file using a loadVars command. The text boxes have instance names of TELEMATICS and BOOK - I have a third textbox called (instance name) RESULT - the text file is called TEST1.txt. My problem is that after trying (and trying) several solutions in tutorials I am unable to add the values in TELEMATICs and BOOK to get a (sum) total in RESULT. I use .txt files a lot with flash to load external news and updates. Although you can use the loadVariablesNum() command to load the .txt files is there anyway to edit and save the external files in flash? e.g. say I have a text box and a submit button in flash is there some way where I can add the text boxes content to a .txt file?

I am using a dynamic text field to show html formatted text from .txt files. I have set the html property both in the properties panel and in AS, and it mostly works. All html formatting show up just fine, except for when "&" is used. Flash CS3 documentation indicates that & is supported, so.? All text after the & does not appear: the only text loaded is that that comes before it. I am using CS3, AS2, publishing in Flash Player 9. Sorry if this problem has been addressed elsewhere, but I've had no luck with my searches.

I'm using Flash MX to create a website. The user navigates between different scenes/frames using buttons, just like moving to different pages in html (except the "pages" are different parts of the main movie's timeline).The problem I'm having is that on two embedded movie clips there are text boxes which dynamically load html-formatted text files (news updates for different topics). When I run the movie, both of these "pages"/"frames" work beautifully, but after the first time, when I come back to either of them, the dynamic text boxes' scrollbars have disappeared and the up/down scroll buttons don't work. By clicking on the loaded text and dragging I can force it to scroll, so all the content is there, but the controls are gone.
I've been searching forums for a couple of hours on this now and the only thing I found was someone found a similar issue on CS3 which required giving scrollbars instance names (which I did) and then inserting Actionscript telling them to update--and that is a bit beyond me. Is there something I have to type in when the text loads to get it to do that?The script I'm using to load the text into the fields is as basic as it gets (and obviously cut and pasted from somewhere else):
