I have this code for my button. How do I make it so when its rolled Over, it'll display a text area with text inside it? and when I roll Out, the text area will go away?

We successfully uploaded the *.doc and *.docx files in application by using FileReference and FileReferenceList. Would you please tell me some idea to read the contents from *.doc and *.docx files and to display the uploaded file content into flex text area.

I have text showing up in a text area, I know I can make the background transparent, but how do I make the actual text showing up an _alpha of oh say 30 or 40...I've tried..(inside the onClipLoad event of the text area)

The following script does not generates compiler errors, each function seems to be executed yet the file is not displayed. When trying the same code with myCV.txt and myCV_TA.text = (loader1.data) the text file is displayed OK. Flash MX and actionscript 2.0 had handled that differently but with success?

I've been handed a complex world map FLA with about 400 individually stylized buttons (various countries and regions) each with special text boxes in their rollover states. My job is to parse XML and push bits into the respective text area boxes.To simplify as much as possible, I've encapsulated all the buttons in an movieclipcountries_mc) and swapped the individual static text boxes for each country with an 'export for actionscript' classed movieclip (Overlay) containing a text area component (bodyCopy_ta).Kind of like this:-- stage----countries_mc------button (given instance name on stage, listened for MOUSE_OVER event)--------Overlay (shared in library, listened for ENTER_FRAME event)----------bodyCopy_taMy thinking is if I can listen for a button rollover, it seem like I should be able to change the text at Overlay.bodyCopy_ta through an event listener, regardless of where it's been placed on stage.

View 3 RepliesWhen I create a TLF text area that is editable at runtime (which means that it can get a user input at runtime) I set the text direction to the 'right-to-left' definition in both the 'container and flow' and the 'paragraph' sections and set the language for Arabic or Hebrew at the 'locale' setting. I also set the text alignment to the 'align to start' mode. Now at runtime there's a stange thing. When I try to click with the mouse cursor on the editable TLF text-box, it's not displaying the text icon cursor and don't allow me to insert text inside.
But when I move my mouse cursor over the right side of the editable TLF text box, it change his appearance to the familiar text cursor which indicate that if you click here you will be able to insert text input inside. So my problem is how can I make it that only when I will hover over the TLF text box itself, the mouse cursor will be changed to text cursor icon and when I will hover beside its right side, it will remain at the normal cursor mode.

1) I can't figure out how to have URL links in the text that loads.
2) How can I make the scroller refresh to allow for new text in the dynamic text area. The content changes alright, but the scroller stays in the same position and if it wasn't needed initially, the scroller disappears and doesn't return on new text.
I have combed the Web and I can't seem to find the answer. All I want to do is display some html-formatted text, located within an external XML file, in a dynamic text field in Flash CS3.
I don't have any code to supply because at this point the only thing I'm trying to display in the text field is "<b>This</b> is a <a href="http://www.google.com">test</a>." For this hypothetical example, I could call the text field myTextField. I just need to know how to format the AS3 code to get the XML to display inside myTextField.
Basically I am trying to do a Flash (AS 2.0) application that connects a FMS server. That isn't the problem, though. The problem is that when I click a button (myBtnEn) it changes a Bool variable to true, and if I click another button (myBtnDis) it changes the same Bool variable to false. View 7 RepliesI would like to first add the xml to my flash. Fine I can do this.But I have a number of buttons, where when I click say CW1, i get the information from the XML file with a node of CW1. I have all the xml set up fine.As I have about eight different postcode types.
ST, CW, CH, TF, WV, WS, DE, SK, SY, and each of these may have numbers that follow, i.e ST1, ST2, ST3 and so forth.

How do i deselect theselected text and retain the text without selection? Currently, I have up and down arrows to scroll the text, but I would like to have an actual scrollbar instead since there is a lot of text in some of the sections. I can make the scrollbar work just fine if I put the text in the first frame, but whenever I set it up to call on text files, then the scroll bar won't work. Obviously, I'm pretty new at Flash. I've attached an FLA with the text box.

View 3 RepliesBasically, my whole website's going to be in Flash, but I want to be able to update one page (sort of a news/blog page) without having to edit the Flash file every time. I'm assuming the easiest way to do this would be to set up either a scroll pane or a text box and pull the text in from a .txt file. That way I could continue to add on to the .txt file, and Flash would always pull in the current version. So, my issues are:
1. I have no idea where to start with the code for something like that. Is it a LoadVar? Do I physically put a scroll pane or a text area in the frame and put the action on that, or do I put the action on the frame and have it call up a text area component?
2. Will the text scroll automatically, or is that something else I would have to add in? I plan on adding to this text file for awhile, so it could end up being a lot of text over time.
3. Would I be able to format the text in the .txt at all? For instance, if I hit enter to put in a paragraph break, would that register once it's pulled into Flash, or would I have to put in an html paragraph break or something? That may be a dumb question, but as I said, I'm not exactly fluent in ActionScript (or any other programming language for that matter).

View 1 RepliesI have a text field component that I am dynamically populating with text. The words appear one letter at a time in a teleprinter style fashion. I also have rendered certain words with HTML to make style changes within the text.Now all this works fine, except because the HTML text is larger than the body of the other text, I am losing theteleprintereffect at the bottom of the text field. In other words, after a set amount has been printed, users are not seeing the letters printed out one at a time, but instead just get a printed line of text appear from beneath the visible section of the text window.
