I have just followed the tutorial on the scrolling window, but instead of one button for each page, want to have just one up and down button. If you know what I mean. Maybe an array of y places and when I press the down button it goes down one. Really don't know where to start.
View 2 RepliesI have a Flash home page which is part of a standard html website. A button needs to link to a specific position in the middle of an html scrolling page. My current script is:

"whats-hot.html" is the page, "#_cn" is the bookmark to the desired position. However, this is not functioning correctly and lands at the top of the page.
I have a simple website and I am going from one page(flash file) to another page(different flash file) using the following code.

View 1 RepliesI've just installed CS5 on a new laptop using Windows 7. I was running it before on my Windows Vista machine and CS3 on that same machine before that with no problems.However on this install, the 'Output' window isn't scrolling properly. I commonly use a trace on an enterframe event so I can track exactly what is happening to a variable and when changes occur. The Output window scrolls so it is constantly at the bottom and the most recent trace is visible, except when it gets to about 50 it just gives up and stops scrolling. This obviously isn't very useful because I can no longer see what the trace is saying unless I scroll down manually (and then it is instantly outdated considering a new trace is produced each frame).Anyone know why it won't scroll to the most recent output? It always used to on my other installs.
View 5 Repliesi'm finding that the output window is increasingly useless for debugging. i tend to spam it with hundreds of tracces per second, as a result of tracing things in per-frame functions. unfortunately the useful part of the output for me is usuall the last message that was written.
this is a problem because the output window does not automatically scroll down. Once there's more than enough messages to fill up the visible portion, i find it loses all usefulness, and scrolling through repetitive data to find the part where i did something, to see what output i got, is slow and tedious
i'm aware that stemming some of the flow of debug messages might be a good idea, but this slows down work as i often have to alter the structure of my code in ways which are otherwise useless, to only get debug messages to fire exactly when needed, as well as often having to place them multiple times.
making the output window automatically scroll would be the most ideal solution. in lieu of that i'm almost considering writing my own debug window with text objects just so i can make it behave usefully, but that seems silly and i'd rather not.
i have some preloader frustrations..dont point me to a previous preloader thread...i have been there already and no im not talking about any preloader that loads the WHOLE movie at the beginning, i know how those work... I need a tutorial/explanation that will teach me how to load a move 'button by button' or 'page by page'.
By this I mean, the first thing the movie will do is load the first 'page' and say you have a few more buttons on that 'page'. It loads all the buttons and that 'page' first..nothing else...then i click one of the buttons (no matter what order) and the 'page' switches to a preloader and then when the second 'page' is loaded, it is displayed.So many sites have this kind of preloader...but i cant believe how many tutorial sites only teach how to program the type of preloader that just loads the WHOLE movie.
i would like that my window opens and closes (opens: scale out; closes: scale in) not by clicking on the button but on the window itself.here are 3 applications of mine (schuifwindow, scroll and fotoalbum).

So to start off one question was, what do i mean by scroll box, the slider bar like the thing to your right that you can grab and scroll down to see the content on the bottom of your page. and secondly There is no better way for to explain what a paralax scroller is than to show you so bellow is a link to a website that uses it. Now keep in mind what i am trying to do is much much smaller this is an entire website, all i am trying to do is the content on one page. is an advanced thing to do and i just want to get the basic structure down before tackling more advanced things. but what i am trying to do though is as the stage scrolls sideways (rather than verticle like on the web page linked here) to show the extended stage off the the right. Content that was hidden in the bottom slides up to be shown in a tween animation only frame by frame, and what I mean by frame by frame is so if I scoll on the linked page notice how when you see a new picture and the car is blowing up in size, now if you stop scrolling that action will freeze leaving you at exactly the place where you stopped and this is not a normal motion tween ( the site is not a motion tween at all being built in html 5 and not flash) but i have to think there is a way off getting this done like perhapps a Mouse Event listening for a scroll to play a tween animation or even a frame by frame animation and when the mouse is not scrolling the tween or frame by frame stops. and does not keep playing the time line untill it reaches a stop(); function.
I have loaded a swf into a fla. The page I loaded it on has a scroll bar. I need the loaded swf to stay at the top of the page and not move when the page is scrolled. Here is my code so far.

I am trying to make a flash movie that will always be fullscreen on the horizontal at 1024x768 and at widescreen 1400x768. the site is called [URL] You will see that the movie slides along fine, but at different size screens it just doesnt quite fit right. I was also looking at making the movie less responsive to the mouse, say the closer the mouse gets to the edge of screen the faster it scrolls, and make sure that the image never scrolls past where it should and just reach the border of the image on either side. Is this possible?

View 9 RepliesThe answer to my question is possibly easy, yet I haven't found an example of solving it in the web, nor have I found a solution reading ActionScript reference. My problem is the following: I have a big UIComponent derivate element inside a Scroller (spark.components.Scroller) window. The Scroller class is great because when my canvas element, that changes size dynamically, exceeds its boundaries, scrollbars appear automatically and handle scrolling of my UIComponent inside it. However, I'd like not just to be able to Scroll using these automatically appeared scroll bars, but also by using a pan tool that I will myself implement (similar to the hand tool in Adobe software, for example). The thing is that I am not able to modify correctly the element's position inside the Scroller window.
I tried, as a first approach, accessing to my elements' 'x' and 'y' properties, however, when changing them, I dont get the resulkts wanted. The code for it is the following (in which, for symplifying reasons, I used a text label as my 'inside' element, and two buttons as an external scroll controller, instead of a hand tool)

I'm not looking for text box scrolling!! I want the whole 'stage' / 'page' whatever its called to scroll down. I have lots off different content like text, images, animations etc on there so is this possible? I would prefer just two buttons on the side that will scroll the page up and down with as much content as I want on there.

I have created a car game, but the only problem is the page scrolls when the player presses the arrow keys!
I've never had this problem before, usually once you activate the Flash movie then page scrolling is disabled.
When I use my arrow keys to control the car, the page in the browser scrolls up/down.
The problem with this is when you press it a few times, the page scrolls enough where you can only see half of the Flash movie or something and it ruins the game experience.
Note: When I press the UP arrow key, the car moves forward AND the page scrolls. So it's not a matter of focusing on the Flash movie.
I been wanting to do a pop up information page, within a page, i dont know if this makes sense because i dont know how to really explan it, but this is an example of wat i mean, if u go into the gallery you'll see the thumbnail pictures and then when u click on it the pop up comes out, that is exactly what i want to do.

At the moment for visual purposes I have generated the following. This is linking to a movieclip at the moment but doesn't loop once finished... it just keeps incrementally scrolling until it probaby ends up in infinity somewhere...

i've got a fair bit of text i'm trying to keep on an internal page by just making each section a scrolling content box. So there are 3 buttons at the top, each 'scrolls' onto a new section and I would like the ability for it to scroll back too, hence using the tween class to do this. I've managed to set it up and each button goes to each 'page' fine in reading order, so to speak (1, 2, 3), but if I got to 1, 2 then back to 1 it will start from 0 on the x axis.
Basically what i'm wanting to do is set the tween from the current _x value. So if I go 1, 2, then back to one, it will take the current _x value from 2, and scroll the opposite direction back to one. I am using the following code on the buttons:

I have a "Close Window" Flash button on the 1st web page and it works. I have the same button on a 2nd page (you get to the 2nd page via the 1st page) and the button does not work. What "close window" actionscript do I use to close these windows?

View 1 RepliesFor some reason whenever I post my flash site online it does not fill the entire window properly. The scroll bar is always on the side making it so I have to scroll down to see the tiny bottom part that is cut off. And there is always a grey border surrounding the flash part of the site.
