ActionScript 1/2 :: Make The Sound Start Up Depending On When The Movie Was Played?

Apr 20, 2010

I am just a rookie in Flash, and came across a problem. I'm trying to create a flash movie that will display time like a TV ident does. I've successfully set it up to get the correct time and play a "tik-tok" sound as each second passes. However, it is to have some background music, and I can't get it to start when I need it - for instance, if the time is 18:00:00 it should start at 00 seconds, it time is 18:00:21 it should start at 21 seconds etc. This is the script I used for ticking:

[Code]...

What should I use for the complex situation as described above? My only guess is that I should sync it to the frames in the background video (behind the clock, running at 24 FPS), but I haven't got a clue how to set that up as well. Can someone please help? If necessary I can upload the .fla file.

ActionScript 3.0 :: URLLoader Generates Error #2048 Depending On File Contents

Jun 7, 2010

I've developed a preloader for an ActionScript 3 application that uses URLLoader to load an encrypted swf. This has been tested on different OSs, Flash Players and browsers and everything works as expected except for a series of PCs being used by a colleague on a corporate network. The PCs at fault use Flash Player 10.0.22.87 with IE6 on WinXP and get security sandbox error #2048 depending on the contents of the file being loaded! Some of the tests and results include:removing 99% of the contents but keeping first 6k (works)replacing contents with 4 bytes 00 (works)inserting 16 bytes: EF BB BF <html></html> at beginning of file (works)inserting 16 0s at the beginning of the file (fails)xor FF all bytes (fails)I've tried other tests such as different file extensions, Security.allowDomain(), crossdomain.xml, Security.loadPolicyFile(), dataFormat = URLLoaderData Format.BINARY etc but I think these are all irrelevant due to the fact that the app sometimes works. The code is just the standard new URLLoader(), adding event listeners, then calling load(new URLRequest()). The test app doesn't include the loadBytes() so this isn't the issue either.

The PC at fault could be behind a firewall or using a proxy. At this stage my only theory is that their antivirus, firewall or proxy is examining the contents and sometimes decides to intervene, perhaps with a redirect. This would also explain why (according to the web server logs) the files are being requested even though the security sandbox error is generated. However, this does not explain why Flash generates the error in the first place, depending on the contents. It's not possible for me to visit on site or get them to modify their settings or configuration, but I can ask them to run various Flash Apps for testing.URL...I can come up with a workaround (such as ensuring the file always starts with dummy <html> tags and then strip them before decrypting), but I'd prefer to get to the bottom of this issue if possible to be confident it won't occur again; this is for a Facebook application so it's possible it will be used in a large variety of environment

ActionScript 3.0 :: Evaluate Contents Of A Textbox

Feb 9, 2011

I have 25 textboxes on stage. I am using a for loop to point to each textbox and evaluate the contents. When I come across a textbox that has the letter "Y" in it I want to place a object called colorbox at a certain location. To do this I have created a variable called tf. When I trace this variable outside of my if statement it correctly shows the contents of the current box, however within my if statement it doesn't. Also the colorbox doesn't get placed at the designated coordinates and I get the following error message:

1. I have an <img> tag in the external .txt that doesn't work (actually, the text does wrap around where the img is supposed to be in the dynamic textbox, but the img itself is not appearing.
2. All <p> tags don't work, but <br> does.
3. I have an ampersand (&) in the .txt file and all text is cut off at that point when loaded into the dynamic textbox. I've tried escaping it (&) and using & to no avail.

Right now I'm just testing it with a "4" for the month hard-coded in and it just plays the whole slideshow.

- All I want to be able to do is make the MC change to frame 3 "right" when my mouse moves to the right of the MC.

I know the script below is wrong, but would it go something like, this. Would I have to use angle and math or is there a simpler way to achieve this?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Using Array Contents As Property Values

I'm pretty new to AS3, using Flash (CS3) to build applications for my university degree. In my movie I've got an array (completionArray) with 7 values, which are set to all be "false". What I'd like to be able to do is use the contents of this array to switch GUI elements on and off.As an example, I've got a movie clip called cowItem on the stage. I'd like to use the first value in the array to set the .visible property of that movie clip, but I can't for the life of me work out how to get it to work.[code]Like I say, I'm new to AS3 and haven't tried using variables as part of a property before, and I also have a similar problem using variable values as part of a method call.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Add Textbox Values Together?

There are 5 "price" textboxes on a particular frame. On a separate frame someone chooses an item and it populates those textboxes. What I want to do is be able to add together all of the "price" textboxes to populate the "total" textbox. I have tried parsing each textbox as an integer and then making a function to find the total and populate the "total" textbox but this just isn't working. It still has the value of 0 when I export. If I try parsing as a number it gives me a NaN value.

The example given adds 1 to the score, but if a user adds a space then a second word the text box views it as a whole and not individual words, resulting in no values added to the score variable. The problem lies with the whole text box being viewed as one entire string. Instead, I want to split it up so word1 will add 1 to the score, word2 will add 1 to the score, etc.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Creating Dynamic Textbox And Assign Values

Jan 8, 2003

I thought the higher the depth number the closer to the viewer it was? I have created a movie which pulls back info from a database, on the original movie, once all the data was loaded, I created the required number of dynamic text boxes on the _root and everything worked perfectly. I then decided that I would need to display other information on other movie clips. So I decided to turn the movie into a movie clip, so that I could create other movie clips and load these as needed. I created a new blank movie, attached a blank movieclip (depth 0) as a container for the movie clips that will hold the different data.

I then used attachMovie(depth 1) to attach the original movieclip, which holds the database info. I then changed the original movie, so that it would create the text boxes in this movie clip(depth 3), so that when I decided to load another movie, I don't have to clear up text boxes on the root. When I run the movie, I get the background image for the data movie clip, but I don't see the text. I used trace to make sure that the text boxes were being created and the text values were assigned and they are. So why can't i see the text?
