I have an externally loaded text file (example1.txt) and scroller set up the way I want, and everything seems to load and scroll just fine when playing the movie (resume.swf) by itself... however, when I have that movie (resume.swf) loaded into my main movie (main.swf) I can't get it to scroll at all.

The part with the loaded text is fine, but I can't manage to script the arrow buttons to do what I've just described. Even though I have searched the Internet for recipes I just find how to scroll loaded text on click or with a scrollbar
I bought some flash templates and have a big problem. When using some flash movie with dynamic text when I run it standalone - its working 100%. If loaded into main movie then static text,graphic, actionscript is working fine but all dynamic text is not visible. Something in main movie is making dynamic text invisible. Please guys some help will be great - I spend already 3 months trying to figure out problem but with no luck.
clientarea.fla is the main movie client area, praguese are XML config files for main movie -rename from txt to xml movieloader - is loader which have to be used to load swf to main movie
I am using the transition preloader on url]... to load in external swfs (http:url...). I have Spark's calendar component on one of the external swfs. All text appears fine when testing the calendar page itself but the text seems to disappear when it's loaded as an external swf into the main file. Is this a path issue?

I've gotten to chapter 5 in my AS 3.0 classroom book but I need to use wisdom today (CHAPTERS before I gain it for myself),I need to create a custom scroll bar with buttons that function just like the UIScrollBar but more visually suited to our projects. the boss demands it.
I found several tutorials on creating the custom scrollBar, however, they don't include the buttons and I'm unable to find a tutorial on how to create a button scroller (I figured I could link them both to my "info_txt" after creating them separately).

I have a main global scrollbar which compares to the other scrollbars that are loaded from the countries drop down menu on the top left..(you can see it clearly) Scrollbars work fine...however... i do need the user to be able to scroll simultaneously the scroll bars either with a button somewhere on stage or with another main bar..

View 4 RepliesI have a movieClip, with other movieClips inside of it, objects that I want when hit to lose points. But when I have the movieClips inside that one, it just has a giant "boundry box". I want the points to go down when you hitting only one of those items,instead it just goes does throughout the entire thing.
There is no way for me to scroll all those objects across the screen without either making a tween on the main timeline for each object (almost 20), or somehow making a giant movieClip scroll all of them all the way across, bypassing the first boundry box, and acknowledging the movieClips.
I have a library MovieClip the I am putting into the Scroll Pane. Inside this MovieClip is a Dynamic Text field that I fill with data. I have the ScrollPane on my stage and have used the source, refreshPain and update to try and get the new information from the dynamic text field into the Scroll Pain. To no avail all I get is the orginal text that was in the box when it started.

My question: Does that mean that scroll panes load dynamically ie. that they are only called for when you press a button to call that specific page which has the scroll pane and does that mean it would save you filesize on your.SWF?

If you open "scroller" you'll see it works just fine (I wish it would only skip one line at a time but that's not that important). When you open "site" it loads "scroller" in it but the scroller doesn't work anymore?

I know that using delta of the scrollEvent will give me direction but everytime i try to increment and decrement the y value of the image the image doesn't follow the line of text perfectly it tends to "crawl" if you will.

I want to make a Flash app that will scroll text whilst music plays. The music part is easy, but scrolling the text...I've tried simply importing ALL of the text, resizing, and scrolling that one giant object upwards, but when the screen was full of text it began to slow down. I need the speed uniform to sync it with the music in the background.
I could have a 70,000,000,000 frame movie and move each element individually, avoiding the heavy load, but the amount of work on my end this would require would be so astronomical that it just wouldn't be worth it. Ideally I want something like a component that I can dump text into and have it deal with making the scroll speed uniform.
It would also be a major plus point if it could be used/created by another program, so that someone without Adobe Flash could produce a similiar kind of movie simply by putting in their text and MP3 file and hitting a "Generate" button.
Can anyone point me in the right direction of any tutorials that th creating a body of text that is from XML, that is scrollable (scroll bars and arrows), and will alllow for HTML links in the text?

I used the displacement map filter for this and it almost works. the only problem is that when the dynamic text field gets to a certain x position, the filter stalls, but the text continues to scroll.
