Can anyone point me in the right direction of any tutorials that th creating a body of text that is from XML, that is scrollable (scroll bars and arrows), and will alllow for HTML links in the text?

That is ok... But, How I do to accede to a specific label of an external swf?? I want that it loads the animation and begin to it turns from the label that I indicate.

View 6 Repliesscroll pane loads scroll bars for the movie clip as soon as it loads the movie clip, so there is no scroll bars the movies height and width are one, but after its loaded it changes its size to bigger than the scroll pane, but the scroll bars dont show up because of the size of the movie clip when it was first loaded, can anyone help?

As the scroll pane fills up, it gets wider to accomodate the thumbnailsThere is one row, and eventually, I want to have the user be able to mouse left or right and have the scroll pane scroll, versus clicking on the bar or the left/right arrows. However, in order to accomplish this, I need the scroll bars to disappear!
View 1 RepliesI have a scroll pane component that I dynamically add movie clip objects too (Which are actually pictures).However when I dynamically add the movie clip objects to the scroll pane the scroll bars don't appear.I have both scroll bars set to auto and I even tried adding in an event listener to update the scroll pane...

Like I said the scroll bars don't get updated and in fact the event for the scroll pane, IE updateScrollPane() never actually gets called!!!
After 2 days of trying, I was finally able to make a simple scrolling text with the up and down arrows. It is functioning fine, but it scrolls line by line which is kind of cumbersome. I want it to scroll smoothly until the mouse is released. May be some scripting. But I am almost at 0 point when it comes to action scripts.

View 8 RepliesI want to make an interactive image scroller. I am making a webshop and I want a flash to scroll through some of the latest products (3 or 4) that I put in myself and animate or whatever, maybe there's a better and easier way. I want this movie to have these products scrolling from right to left by auto with maybe an ease effect, but when you move your mouse pointer over the whole movie I want it to stop, and when it stops I want two arrows appear on the left and right side of the movie which will be clickable and you will be able to scroll through the products with them as well.
It doesn't need to have an external XML connection where you insert scrolling speed and so on. Of course it would be simplier, but without is fine too. I will try to explain in what terms I know of:
-Mouseout/rollout = 3 or 4 products scrolling one by one from the right and ease in to the middle, pause 4 seconds, then scroll out to the left with an ease. Looped.
-Mouseover/rollover = Movie stops and then you can use arrows on both each side and scroll by yourself. But I don't know if I want this only to be available when the product is in the center of the movie, or else it would be kind of weird if the movie stopped when one product was just about to go half-way out or in.
I need help with a project asap. I am new to AS. I need to be able to change from each text box by use of arrows,tab, and enter keys. Also, the user inputs a number into the textbox and from there I am checking to see if it is the correct one. It is telling me too early that it is wrong before I input.
View 0 RepliesHow would I be able to create a scene where you scroll left to right using the mouse, but instead of having it at a constant rate and having the picture (background) move when your mouse is at a certain x coordinate to have it be that when you move the mouse away from an object the background will move, and will move faster the farther away the mouse is? I know that using delta of the scrollEvent will give me direction but everytime i try to increment and decrement the y value of the image the image doesn't follow the line of text perfectly it tends to "crawl" if you will.

I want to make a Flash app that will scroll text whilst music plays. The music part is easy, but scrolling the text...I've tried simply importing ALL of the text, resizing, and scrolling that one giant object upwards, but when the screen was full of text it began to slow down. I need the speed uniform to sync it with the music in the background.
I could have a 70,000,000,000 frame movie and move each element individually, avoiding the heavy load, but the amount of work on my end this would require would be so astronomical that it just wouldn't be worth it. Ideally I want something like a component that I can dump text into and have it deal with making the scroll speed uniform.
It would also be a major plus point if it could be used/created by another program, so that someone without Adobe Flash could produce a similiar kind of movie simply by putting in their text and MP3 file and hitting a "Generate" button.

I used the displacement map filter for this and it almost works. the only problem is that when the dynamic text field gets to a certain x position, the filter stalls, but the text continues to scroll. Basically, my whole website's going to be in Flash, but I want to be able to update one page (sort of a news/blog page) without having to edit the Flash file every time. I'm assuming the easiest way to do this would be to set up either a scroll pane or a text box and pull the text in from a .txt file. That way I could continue to add on to the .txt file, and Flash would always pull in the current version. So, my issues are:
1. I have no idea where to start with the code for something like that. Is it a LoadVar? Do I physically put a scroll pane or a text area in the frame and put the action on that, or do I put the action on the frame and have it call up a text area component?
2. Will the text scroll automatically, or is that something else I would have to add in? I plan on adding to this text file for awhile, so it could end up being a lot of text over time.
3. Would I be able to format the text in the .txt at all? For instance, if I hit enter to put in a paragraph break, would that register once it's pulled into Flash, or would I have to put in an html paragraph break or something? That may be a dumb question, but as I said, I'm not exactly fluent in ActionScript (or any other programming language for that matter).
I've manually customized the look and feel of the scroll bars for scroll pane component and it works fine. I've two different files that have different visual styles for scroll bars. Now I want to merge these two files. I can resolve the naming conflicts but both of the them are using same asset names and action scripts (I think in the class definition).
So basically my question if how can I have two different scroll bars implemented in one file?
Is there any reason why a scrollbar would not show up in a popup window? THe popup window is a dreamweaver document.URL...If you click on the "Interior" button, and then click on any of the balusters a popup window will appear with 4 images. This popup window has no scrollbar?? It should, and I didn't do anything to tell it to "not show a scrollbar".The scrollbar shows up on my Mac, but does not show up on my friends Mac, nor does it show up on my PC?Also, I have been doing a few tests on this page on the first few balusters (trying to get around the scrollbar issue), so maybe pick the 5th baluster, rather than the first one? Or pick one of the last balusters.
View 2 RepliesI have a file uploader that uses a file reference list (FRL) to upload files. However what I want to do is use the FRL to display all the images/files that were selected and then display them in either a list, or photo gallery. I would lean more towards the photo gallery approach but I don't know how to dynamically lay out the thumbnails properly. What's the best way to display the thumbnails in rows 3 pictures wide and then skip down a line etc.
Now ofcourse I don't know how many files will be selected so my next question would be can I draw the thumbnail gallery in a seperate container (or frame sort of like in VB) and then have that container have it's own scroll bars? In most other programming languages I would have no problem doing this but I am a bit new to flash and I am a bit stumped.
I am using full screen flash to make my flash movie fill the browser window. I also, need for it to have a scroll bar, as it's 1400 pixels vertical. For normal full screen flash, you set the height and width to 100 percent. But because I needed a scroll bar, I changed the height to "1400" pixels instead. This created the scroll bar I needed, but it only works in Internet Explorer, and not firefox or safari. How I could ensure that I have a scrollbar on all browsers?

why a scroll bar would not function on any mac platform... tested in FireFox and Safari, and the scroll bars either do not work, function improperly, or work but you have to move the mouse all the way to the bottom of the page to scroll a few lines. Also, the mouse wheel never works when trying to scroll the text box.
