Sep 5, 2011I have WYSIWYG text editor for flash. Works great. Allows me to edit text, save it as a text file and then load it either back into flash or alternatively into HTML. Problem is that Flash uses the <font> tag which is deprecated in HTML4 and will be removed in HTML5 due to CSS. So given that flash can use CSS I wonder:Is there a way to build a WYSIWYG text editor in Flash that uses CSS ?Has anyone heard of this being done? or even done it them selves I'm after any information at all even if it's just a reason why it won't work or assurance that it will.

Can anyone link me to documentation or a tutorial that can help teach me how to integrate it into a normal AS3 file? I have no idea how to use the library and the only documentation I've seen for it is how to use it in Flex/Air, which is not what I'm looking for.

Jan 28, 2009I want to create an input text field that can be editable by the user and essentially when they click submit it turns this into HTML code with p, br, strong and em tags.
I don't know if it is possible, I assume it would be, but my searches are not turning up much.
I want the user to be able to select a section of text and click a B button to surround that selected text with strong tags, same for italics.
I also want to give the ability to at least record when the user presses enter in order it insert p tags and maybe even br tags if they press shift+enter

Jul 4, 2009I'm building this flash site for a friend and he wants to be able to edit the contents and maintain the site by himself later on. So naturally, I used a dynamic text field that uses URLloader to link to an external html, dandy. Problem is, my friend wants to use dreamweaver to edit the contents of html (or even just a word document exported as html) and it's just driving him nuts because the text look nothing like that way it did in DW when it's loaded into the dynamic text field (extra spacing and line break popping up randomly everywhere). Is there an alternative solution other then telling him to just edit it in notepad? What if I switch over to XML?

Feb 6, 2003I'm trying to pull a variable from an ASP page that's pulling it's info from a database. The ASP page has a response.write that outputs &ScrollText = text that comes from the database. The ASP page works fine, but when I try to pull in the variable in Flash, it takes in all the html URL escapes, i.e.: %20 for a space %22 for a ", etc. I've tried using Server.URLEncode in my ASP page, but that didn't help any. I'm displaying this text in a dynamic text box with a scroll bar.

Feb 26, 2009yesterday by accident I think I pressed a combo like ALT+SHIFT+SPACEBAR, or something like that.. and all of a sudden in my actionscript editor some formatting characters appeared, like at the end of every line for every tab in the code for every space it's really annoying, I tried to restore the original settings, but nothing changed.

Jun 21, 2006What I want to do is create a flash movie that will work as a update method for a news section on a website. Now Im not a big Actions scripter but I think its a preety cool idea. basicly I'm guess in It could be done using input text or something like that. But the idea is you can login to a webpage(with the text editing swf in it) and it would have say 3 input text boxes one that says date, subject, and then the news to be added. And using a submit button it would update a text file that is dynamicly loaded into the main website swf. Does that make sence??3 If anyone has anyidea on how I could acheive this I would really apriciate it. I am really excited about the consept lol I just dont really have the AS knowledge at the moment to do it.

Php :: Get The Correct Coordinates Of Text From That Flex Editor?
Mar 1, 2012We have an image editor in Flex to add text and other changes. Once all the changes are complete, we need to save this to the server.We are using php to save the images by accepting coordinates from flex about what all edits are made for that image. Using this we are editing that image using imagick function in PHP. But the problem is output is different from what we see in flex. The issue is mainly with text alignment in flex editor and in the output we get after editing in php.Is there any other way to do this without making the user to wait for a long time to save the images? Is it possible to get the correct coordinates of text from that flex editor. Our issue is flex is passing the x,y of the container of that text editor. For this reason, test is misaligned in the output.

Dec 13, 2009I am creating a rich text editor -- and I have found many things convert from textformat to HTML like below marked 1. but then when I get to links and align of the editor -- I am not certain the best approach I am doing a search and replace string method on the html text field (the code is marked 2) but it is not that easy and I was wondering if there was a cleaner approach. And that is just the writing of it. Removing it is even harder but I won't get into that I am just trying to find a easer way.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash To PHP Web Based Text Editor?
Jan 14, 2011i got a working flash text editor. It loads up a text file from a database and displays it in a dynamic textbox and allows you to edit it however you want and save it by sending variables to a php script which than saves the changes to the text file. It works great and when i download the tect file from the database it displays what i/anyone has saved. Only issue is when i refresh the page the text box is displaying what the text file used to say. i checked the database and thats not what the text file contains. =/ I have NO idea what would be causing this, as it loads the text file directly when the page is refreshed so it SHOULD display what the text files most recent contents are. any ideas? test it out at Simmpole(dot)com/flips/testtextsaver/tophp.swf
edit : i also tried making a button that forced flash to reload the text file and no luck.i also tried throwing the code that loads the text file in a ENTER_FRAME event and still no luck.
