View 2 RepliesI'm trying to use Senocular's News Editor from the xml tutorials, but for some reason when i add new entries, they dont save to the xml file. The "news_save.php" page gives the following errors:

yesterday by accident I think I pressed a combo like ALT+SHIFT+SPACEBAR, or something like that.. and all of a sudden in my actionscript editor some formatting characters appeared, like at the end of every line for every tab in the code for every space it's really annoying, I tried to restore the original settings, but nothing changed.

However the editor inserts inline css style tags like <span style="text-decoration: underline;"> which Flash aparently can't understand. I'm trying to use the AlivePDF library to export text from a text editor created in AS3 into a PDF. Can anyone link me to documentation or a tutorial that can help teach me how to integrate it into a normal AS3 file? I have no idea how to use the library and the only documentation I've seen for it is how to use it in Flex/Air, which is not what I'm looking for.

Currently it is putting the first news item in both news boxes.ction script so that the second box is actually the second "<news> tag". From the tutorial I removed the <info> <author> and <comment> tags.

View 1 RepliesI want to create an input text field that can be editable by the user and essentially when they click submit it turns this into HTML code with p, br, strong and em tags.
I don't know if it is possible, I assume it would be, but my searches are not turning up much.
I want the user to be able to select a section of text and click a B button to surround that selected text with strong tags, same for italics.
I also want to give the ability to at least record when the user presses enter in order it insert p tags and maybe even br tags if they press shift+enter
Does anyone have any experience using external actionscript editors? I've given a brief look at SE|PY, but not sure why it's any better than the native editor in Flash.

View 1 RepliesI'm building this flash site for a friend and he wants to be able to edit the contents and maintain the site by himself later on. So naturally, I used a dynamic text field that uses URLloader to link to an external html, dandy. Problem is, my friend wants to use dreamweaver to edit the contents of html (or even just a word document exported as html) and it's just driving him nuts because the text look nothing like that way it did in DW when it's loaded into the dynamic text field (extra spacing and line break popping up randomly everywhere). Is there an alternative solution other then telling him to just edit it in notepad? What if I switch over to XML?

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to pull a variable from an ASP page that's pulling it's info from a database. The ASP page has a response.write that outputs &ScrollText = text that comes from the database. The ASP page works fine, but when I try to pull in the variable in Flash, it takes in all the html URL escapes, i.e.: %20 for a space %22 for a ", etc. I've tried using Server.URLEncode in my ASP page, but that didn't help any. I'm displaying this text in a dynamic text box with a scroll bar.

I've made a horizontal news ticker that scrolls a string from right to left using substring method and by changing the alignment. This works OK but I would like the text to start displaying again before it disappears completly off the left of the screen. I've attached the fla and swf.
View 5 RepliesI'd like to add a second news ticker text field right beneath the first one that loads its headlines from a different XML file. So my question is this -- (not very XML savy mind you...) How would I need to adjust the AS code to be able to have both text fields going at the same time? What parts of the AS code can be omitted? (to not have redundant functions) Is there anything I should be aware of that might be cancelling out the second text field from running? At this point, I can get only one of the tickers working at a time -- the other just sits empty.

I created a text editor in AS3 to administer a site online, but i have a problem when i select a word, put it in bold, save the text and load it, all the text after this word becomes bold too. (to put a word in bold i select that world and use a button that turn this word in bold)Here is my code

Now Im not a big Actions scripter but I think its a preety cool idea. basicly I'm guess in It could be done using input text or something like that. But the idea is you can login to a webpage(with the text editing swf in it) and it would have say 3 input text boxes one that says date, subject, and then the news to be added. And using a submit button it would update a text file that is dynamicly loaded into the main website swf. Does that make sence??3 If anyone has anyidea on how I could acheive this I would really apriciate it. I am really excited about the consept lol I just dont really have the AS knowledge at the moment to do it.
