I have a dynamic text field that is pulling random quotes from a text field. They are populating over a graphic of a customized playing card. Everything works fine, and the text horizontally centers fine.... but it vertically centers to the top of the text box I have drawn.Is there a way to make the textvertically align in the center? I am just learningactionscript... or re-learing it rather.Here is the code I am using for the random text:
Code:
ranQuote = new LoadVars();
ranQuote.onLoad = function(success) {
I have this flash website where i use Stage.scaleMode to dynamically resize the swf depending on the browser size. (i use A.script 2.0). So the width takes the whole screen and the height is scaled in proportion. My design is in a landscape format. It works fine, except that i need the swf to also be vertically centered in the browser Window. (explanantion - on certain screens, example a 19 inch PC monitor which is quite "squared", my flash movie expands the whole way across the width, and the height in proportion, but as my design is in landscape, i have a big empty space in the browser below the swf.)
We have recently made a new Flash website for our company (URL...). The Flash module itself is 800 pixels tall. We have CSS that centers a div horizontally and vertically that's wrapped around the Flash module (you can see the source of URL...) and when someone is on a browser on a netbook or a smaller laptop (sub 15-inch, generally), they don't have enough vertical resolution (after the real estate used by the Windows start bar and browser toolbars) to see the entire site.Whether you view the html page I've made (again, at URL...) or you view the Flash module itself (URL...) the top of the Flash module clips off the top of the browser. (To see the problem if you don't have a small laptop, just don't maximize your browser window and shrink it's vertical height.)I understand why my CSS is behaving the way it is, due to the nature of the negative top margin, but is there any way to solve this issue?
I have a dynamic text filed and an input text field. when I type in the input text field the text Will show up in the dynamic text field.I have positioned the dynamic text vertically like this:
I have to load some external data in a text box and scroll it vertically with a constant speed. And also give link to each sentence seperatly.what i have done is scroll text vertically,but it doesn't show all the text line as text file could have many lines even 100+.
I have an AS3 project I'm working on. All the text is coming in dynamically via XML file.I'm also using an external CSS to control the look of the text. Everything seems to be coming in fine. I can dynamically create a new TextField and put my text into it. The problem is that I want it centered on the stage and I've been trying with NO success.If I set the width of the TextField to be the width of the stage, that works, but I cannot get the text to center in it if multiline is true
Code: var serverNameTxt:TextField = new TextField(); addChild(serverNameTxt);
I've been following an xml tutorial webdesign tutorial, as I'm pretty new to the whole coding side of things, I've copied their code into my own design, which has been going fine up until this point.
In the tutorials the dynamic menus were alligned vertically, in my site I want them to run horizontally, well I managed to suss out how to realign them, the problem is that the spacing between each button is set according to the end of each (invisible) button. This makes each gap a different size and makes the layout look really clunky.
I'm wondering if theres a line of code I can insert, which defines the size of each button according to the size of the text, or alternately, that starts the spacing from the end of the text rather than the button.
I'm creating Flash-based software that has text boxes where users write in the answers to questions. I want the text that the user types to be vertically aligned to the middle of the text box, so that even if the response is two or three lines, it is still centered in the box.
It doesn't appear that I can accomplish this through the properties window in Flash. Am I missing something? Or is it possible to set the properties of the text box with actionscript, and would that allow me to vertically align the text?
.autoSize seems to expand itself vertically and horizontally. Is there a way to auto size it just vertically so the width remains the same and wordwrap is done?
I have one movie that I want content to appear in driven by xml. With text and background image for each node. (see attached diagram).It's only one row that gets wider as nodes are added.Problem is I need the cells to always be centered within the container - so they appear from the middle line.You can see diagram 1 and 2 the calls are positioned differently. I cannot find an example of this anywhere - In all example's I've found the nodes always output left to right, looping to redraw a new row.Any one know if this is possible, could a script calculate the number of nodes in the row and adjust the first node x position accordingly?

Some kind of script to calculate the number of nodes present then position the first cell's x position accordingly, I have no Idea how to do that. I cannot post the images here so if you imagine a family tree style diagram with a center vertical line - cells appearing and spreading out centered in one row.
do you know of a way to vertically align text? i have a text box that is the height of 400 and there is one line of text going within it that needs to be centered so there is the same amount space at the bottom and top. the text is subject to change in amount of lines so i need to have a way to have it centered always.
I want to get my text to auto scroll vertically it is for a news section for one of my customers... I am loading the text from an external txt file. I have got everything to work but can figure out how to make it auto scroll itself.
I am trying to read data from a XML and then create a match-them kind of game where one set of choices are listed one on top of other and another set is on a row above them one after the other with the text aligned vertically.I have the whole thing working out perfectly but the only problem is that I am not able to display the text vertically. I did some searching and turns out that Dynamic and Input Text boxes can not display vertically oriented texts. I thought about creating static textfields at run time but couldn't find an option to vertically orient the text in the formatting options.I tried rotating the movieclips after the textfields have been created but as soon as the clips are rotated, the text disappears.
I'm having some issues aligning the header text of a datagrid. I'm using an embed font for the header text, and when applying the css, the header text behaves as if I'd set the text vertical align to top. I'm trying to vertically center the text, but haven't found a way to make it work.
I have the following code layout in mxml. The button will be positioned correctly in the middle, but the text remains anchored to the top. This is not the behavior of the spark component label, but I need multiple style runs in the text and have found the mxText component to be the best solution...
I would like to make the height of my DataGrid rows a bit larger than the default. The problem is that the text is vertically align to the top of the row. I would like to vertically align it to the middle of the row.
Is there a way of doing that via CSS or Skinning in Flex 4.6? note that I am using a Spark DataGrid and not an MX version.
I've be messing around with Flash for a little while now and just recently starting trying to do a datagrid which is loaded from an XML file. Well I've gotten the XML to populate the datagrid. Everything is fine in that aspect but I cant seem to get my text to align properly in the datagrid. By default ofcourse everything is aligned Left. I would like align everything centered (the cells as well as the column Header.The code that I have basically creates the datagrid at runtime,
Note: I had found two other threads from a couple of years ago that said use the line below, but I've tried that line of code to no avail:
Code: myDataGrid.getColumnAt(2).textAlign = "center"; HERE IS MY CODE: Code: import fl.controls.DataGrid;[code]....
I want to make my createTextField centered on my movieclip, does anyone know how this is done? I've tried using the texWidth/_width property but it only makes it to narrow. Or is it possible to size the background fill to the length of the word?
PHP Code: var aPoints:Arra =["one", "two", "three", "four"]; function printIt()
In the Spark DataGrid the default row height is about 22 px. I would like to set the default row height to 18 pixels and I can do this easily enough with the rowHeight property but what happens is when the rowHeight is set to anything less than 22 px the bottom area of the text in each row is cut off. It seems that the default grid itemrenderer or grid label has a min height set to it. Since I have multiple columns and want to have shorter rows but not have the bottom of the text cut off in each row how would I do this?
i made a function for replacing a text letter by letter. You've probably seen this effect of putting in place of a text a random one, with the length of the new text and then replacing the random text, letter by letter with the new one. It worked fine but I had to do some adjustments, because I needed to vertically align the text to the bottom, and I had the newline character in the text which gave me some issues with the aligning. Since I did this adjustments, string.length returns undefined even if trace(string) shows the correct text in the output window. On the other hand length(string) gives me the right answer. I also use the charAt function which also returns undefined, even if the trace function shows the correct text.
I'm trying to center the title text on my Alert control. I'm using the following CSS right now: mx|Alert{ text-align: center; }
The problem is that the above code centers my alert content as well, not just the title text. What selector do I need to access just the title of the alert control? I'm using the 4.x SDK and Spark. Code: Alert.Show();
