View 4 RepliesI am trying to justify the text of an XML file which loads into a dynamically created text field. I've tried a couple of things but no luck so far!
This is my code:
//Create the dynamic text field.
var one_txt:TextField = this.createTextField("one_txt",1,10,10,530,100);
one_txt.autoSize = true;

How to make text in flex justified (text-align option)
View 2 RepliesI have a few textfields that require characters to exactly fit (left and right). The characters are loaded dynamically and always fit whatever number of characters there's room for in the textfield. I'd like to justify the text so that the last letter in a textfield is placed right by the right border. However, it doesn't seem to work. My guess is that it's due to the lack of spaces between characters (there are no spaces whatsoever in the strings I'm importing). For this project, I will be using around 12000 textfields, so there's no way I'm going to place every character in a single textfield and position them one by one, as it would take up too much processing.
View 2 Repliesis possible to align text in dynamic text control vertically to the middle? In flash CS3.
View 1 RepliesI'm creating Flash-based software that has text boxes where users write in the answers to questions. I want the text that the user types to be vertically aligned to the middle of the text box, so that even if the response is two or three lines, it is still centered in the box.
It doesn't appear that I can accomplish this through the properties window in Flash. Am I missing something? Or is it possible to set the properties of the text box with actionscript, and would that allow me to vertically align the text?
.autoSize seems to expand itself vertically and horizontally. Is there a way to auto size it just vertically so the width remains the same and wordwrap is done?
View 2 Repliesdo you know of a way to vertically align text? i have a text box that is the height of 400 and there is one line of text going within it that needs to be centered so there is the same amount space at the bottom and top. the text is subject to change in amount of lines so i need to have a way to have it centered always.
View 2 RepliesI have Input Text box and the size is Width: 200 and Hight: 150. I need to align text vertically center using action script.

I want to get my text to auto scroll vertically it is for a news section for one of my customers... I am loading the text from an external txt file. I have got everything to work but can figure out how to make it auto scroll itself.
View 6 RepliesI am trying to read data from a XML and then create a match-them kind of game where one set of choices are listed one on top of other and another set is on a row above them one after the other with the text aligned vertically.I have the whole thing working out perfectly but the only problem is that I am not able to display the text vertically. I did some searching and turns out that Dynamic and Input Text boxes can not display vertically oriented texts. I thought about creating static textfields at run time but couldn't find an option to vertically orient the text in the formatting options.I tried rotating the movieclips after the textfields have been created but as soon as the clips are rotated, the text disappears.
View 4 RepliesI have a dynamic text field that is pulling random quotes from a text field. They are populating over a graphic of a customized playing card. Everything works fine, and the text horizontally centers fine.... but it vertically centers to the top of the text box I have drawn.Is there a way to make the textvertically align in the center? I am just learningactionscript... or re-learing it rather.Here is the code I am using for the random text:
Code:
ranQuote = new LoadVars();
ranQuote.onLoad = function(success) {

I have a dynamic text box that I want to rotate 90degrees counterclockwise. I can do this with static text but when it's dynamic, it dissapears.
View 2 RepliesI'm having some issues aligning the header text of a datagrid. I'm using an embed font for the header text, and when applying the css, the header text behaves as if I'd set the text vertical align to top. I'm trying to vertically center the text, but haven't found a way to make it work.
View 1 RepliesI have the following code layout in mxml. The button will be positioned correctly in the middle, but the text remains anchored to the top. This is not the behavior of the spark component label, but I need multiple style runs in the text and have found the mxText component to be the best solution...
<s:Group>
<s:layout>
<s:HorizontalLayout verticalAlign="middle" gap="0" />
[code].....
I would like to make the height of my DataGrid rows a bit larger than the default. The problem is that the text is vertically align to the top of the row. I would like to vertically align it to the middle of the row.
Is there a way of doing that via CSS or Skinning in Flex 4.6? note that I am using a Spark DataGrid and not an MX version.
Just wondering if it is possible to vertically center the text in a button component?
View 4 RepliesI have to load some external data in a text box and scroll it vertically with a constant speed. And also give link to each sentence seperatly.what i have done is scroll text vertically,but it doesn't show all the text line as text file could have many lines even 100+.

i have the above code wherein i load data from external text file i want the text to be vertcically auto scrolling on load without any scroll bar
I have an problem that i want to add textinput or Any Component to TextArea Component..
View 1 RepliesIn the Spark DataGrid the default row height is about 22 px. I would like to set the default row height to 18 pixels and I can do this easily enough with the rowHeight property but what happens is when the rowHeight is set to anything less than 22 px the bottom area of the text in each row is cut off. It seems that the default grid itemrenderer or grid label has a min height set to it. Since I have multiple columns and want to have shorter rows but not have the bottom of the text cut off in each row how would I do this?
View 2 Repliesi made a function for replacing a text letter by letter. You've probably seen this effect of putting in place of a text a random one, with the length of the new text and then replacing the random text, letter by letter with the new one. It worked fine but I had to do some adjustments, because I needed to vertically align the text to the bottom, and I had the newline character in the text which gave me some issues with the aligning. Since I did this adjustments, string.length returns undefined even if trace(string) shows the correct text in the output window. On the other hand length(string) gives me the right answer. I also use the charAt function which also returns undefined, even if the trace function shows the correct text.
View 7 RepliesI have this in my code, but it doesn't seem to affect the the text in a single line text field that I am loading from XML. Can anyone offer a suggestion on how I can get my field to force justify one line of text?
var format:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
format.align = TextFormatAlign.JUSTIFY;clientClip.characteristicClip.clientCharacteristic.text = clientData[flx]["characteristics"];clientClip.characteristicClip.clientCharacteristic.defaultTextFormat = format;
I would like to set a fixed width for an input textfield with an embedded font. I would like to have the option to left-, right-, or center-justify the text. This is proving difficult.
If I set myTextField.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;, I get left-justified text, but the textfield width changes with each keystroke. Same trade-off with TextFieldAutoSize.RIGHT and TextFieldAutoSize.CENTER.
Now, if I use TextFieldAutoSize.NONE, then I can fix the width and height of my textfield, making it the size I want... but the cursor is always blinking in the middle of the textfield. What's the secret to justifying that cursor to the left [or right] and the textfield staying the size I initially set it to?
I'm trying to make a Dynamic TextField and set align to 'Justify'.I tried use align propriety from TextFormat but doesnt work.Until now, it only works with Static Texts, that I know.

View 4 RepliesI have a textInput component on stage. There is also push button component. the user types his name in the textInput box, and when he presse the button it goes to the next frame, transferring the value of the textInput box to a dynamic text box on frame 2. The dynamic text box just gives me "undefined". here's the code:
Frame1:
btn.onRelease = function(){
gotoAndPlay(2);
}
Frame2:
receiveTxt.text=sendTxt.text;
I have a problem with writing arabic text in the TextInput Dynamically. when i run the swf file i can write arabic in the search textinput, but when i try it online it write symbols and mad characters just like these " E - E H / E - E / "
View 6 RepliesSo the real problem is the lack of an onReleaseOutside function. I found some examples of how to bypass this during a drag function but it was not applicable for a text input.The problem is that when a user selects some text in textinput and mouses off the application area and then mouses up, I'm getting a problem that the textinput keeps thinking that the mouse down is actively selecting text in the textinput and continually overwrites the characters being entered in the textinput. in the search bar of the live store on the page, type some text, then highlight it all and don't let up on the mouse until you are outside the store.I finally hacked some junk together so I can tell if the mouse goes off the stage using some code like.
var x = stage.mouseX;var y = stage.mouseY;if(x < 0 || y <0 || x >stage.stageWidth || y > stage.stageHeight)I'd like to just make the textinput stop thinking it should be highlighting text so that even if the user scrolls out of the applet and mouses up that the text input still overwrites what is in the search bar and functions as normal.
