ActionScript 2.0 :: Web Service Connector Not Working Inside Of Loaded SWF?

I am trying to call a web service using the web service connector class with an instance of the component on the stage. This works fine. The problem is when I load the SWF into another movie and then trigger the function that triggers the web service it doesn;t seem to trigger. I can see that the function is being called from my trace statement but the web service wont work. The only difference is that i am loading the SWF into another SWF. All SWFs are published at version 6. Here's my code:

I am trying to extend the WebServiceConenctor class to make a class that checks a web service at set intervals and has some other functionality. I want to set the properties of the object in the constructor but I cant get it to work, also I want to be able to trigger the webservice from methods within the Check class but I think I have the syntax wrong.

I have a flash code where i am loading an AS 2 SWF inside AS 3. The thing is if i put the AS 2 SWF on same domain its working fine but if i put AS 2 SWF on different domain it loads the SWF properly but the "stop()" written inside the AS 2 frame doesnt work... and it keeps on playing all the frames continuously...

I'm setting up a page that uses a flash menu to load html pages into a div container by the following call:

}
The loading works fine, but some of my pages had specific jquery scripts and that's where I've struck out so far. I assumed all I needed to do was transfer the script importations, css stylesheets and the jquery functions to my main document, but it won't work.
I also tried importing the html as a the complete html, which works on it's own, but not when imported into the main document. Most recently I heard I should try shifting the jquery function calls to the end of the loaded document, to after the content, My scripts work, just not when imported, so I suppose my question is how can I make the main- and imported documents play nice with each other? What say you we make this a jump-start tutorial for all us noobs to reference?

Below is a link to an example web service that I'm hoping you guys can tell me what I'm doing wrong. I have this dictionary app that works great when I'm in flash and preview it, but when I publish it and view it on the web, it simply doesn't work. I'm not sure what I'm missing. I am developing a flex application with flex 4.1 sdk and java backend (runs on Glassfish 3.1 via http). For security reasons I decided to move my authentication process to https until a session id is obtained. Therefore I changed the filter settings to use ssl for login and logout pages(just two pages due to performance reasons. The data-size sent to client is large and I do not want to slow down the system). Glassfish forwarded these pages to 8181 port (which is HTTPS port). Everything is ok for the java part. However flex defines the 8181 port as a different domain and then problems arise. Due to flash's same-origin policy it cannot load the secured content. Normally a crossdomain.xml is the solution but I am accessing content of the same domain through a different port. What will be the solution ?

I am experiencing a strange problem when I want to bind a service to a button or something else:

I can add the services to the Data Services panel but I have two strange things:
1) when I want to configure the return type he doesn't let me create a new ValueObject type, I only get the bottom datagrid which states: Properties returned by the operation: Property: country_Id, provence_Id, city_Id, id_cdpc, district_Id with the related values on the right side. Why can't I create a new data type on the top?
2) When I accept this and want to add the service call to a button (drag&drop) I get the following error: Error occurred while generating code. Make sure that there are no compiler eroors and try again after reopening the file. Componentn type services.cdpc.CDPC not found... (ps: When I perform a Test Operation everything seems to be ok, I get the expected output values)

So I must say I like the direction that Adobe is taking AIR, giving the ability for web developer to create applications for the desktop / mobile devices is wonderful. One things when I was learning php that was helpful (and something that has been a selling point for Dreamweaver) was the ability to point to a Database and Dreamweaver would generate the code for the connection. With Flash being ported to Droid and Adobe clearly making a push to Flash to move beyond the web why has this same functionality not been ported to Flash? In Dreamweaver you can point to a data source, select segments of data you want to access, sort, use a text field to filter data, etc..I must admit that my Flash skills are rusty but when I look at the steps it takes to get exteranal data into Flash, well what a mess.

I have a project with an XML Connector that goes out and gets data from an xml file and displays it in a label in my flash. It does this when the swf file loads using ActionScript in frame 1. The ActionScript is simply: this.labels_xc.trigger(); It loads the data from the XML file no problem. But the data in the XML file changes every so often. How do I get the swf file to go out and get the new data on a regular interval (say every 2 minutes or so)? I've looked at scripts with timers and I can't figure it out. I am building a diagramming tool using Adobe Flex 3. I am about to implement connector lines and I have a question.
Imagine I have 2 squares at random positions on the canvas. I need to draw an arrowed connector line between them. I need it to tend to the target square's center but end on its border.
How do I find out the exact points between which to draw the line?

I have a "photo" gallery that loads numerous SWFs through xml, one by one on click. All works fine. All my SWF work fine stand alone. But when I load them into the player, many swf dont work properly.in example, I have textinput textfields in many of the swfs, which work fine on their own but not when loaded into the player. Then I have a word search game that works fine when alone, not when in player. I can see there is something as my mouse cursor changes into the "button finger", but nothing visual.
All drag and drop assigments work fine etc. I have no idea whats up. I have receantly switched to as3 and in as2 there was _lockroot declaration that solved similar problems, but now in as3 (where it supposedly should be automatic) it doesnt work. As it seems that it cannot recognise it own stage value, or selection_focus when loadedinside another swf through xml.Using cs4, as3.

I am using the web services connector but it only works if I set the publish settings to compile for Flash Player 7 or above and I need my movie to run on version 6. The web services connector should work from version 6 and I have used it before and published for v6 but for some reason the movie will publish without an error but the web service won't trigger. If I change the settings to publish for version 7 or 8 then it works fine. Here's my code if it's any help:

I'm wanting to write a Connector class for my first jump into AS3.A Connector object would take two display objects as parameters, and it would draw a connecting line between them.Whenever either object moved, the Connector would keep track of that and update the connecting line appropriatly.

Will Connector be able to register itself as a listener for when sprite1 and sprite2 move or does that have to be done outside of the Connector class?

I want a Movie Clip to house 5 buttons that will link to frame labels on the main time line.(this will be my main menu navigation)I have created 5 separate buttons then created a Movie Clip.dragged each of the 5 buttons into the movie clip gave instance names for all of them.then I dragged the movie clip to my main timeline and gave that an instance name.I then went into the Movie clip and attempted to use AS3 to get the button instances to navigate to the frame labels.no go
when I test my movie it keeps looping through the whole main timeline no matter how many stop commands I put in the main timeline or in the Movie clip itself.if I have no AS in the Movie clip then the movie tests with the Movie clip working (no scrolling through the timeline and rollover works fine but I still can not command the CLICKs).as a post script I have tried so many AS variables I thought it best to not enter any here

So I've done a lot of research on this issue and I understand that buttons don't work when its nested inside a mc that has an event.My project is a map that pans/zooms and when you click on the green triangle next to Lansing, its supposed to pop up a window with information. The wierd thing about it is that it works when I use an onRollover event, but not an onRelease event.The map pan/zoom script was not written by myself btw.

Flash map is the script with the pans/zoom. Flashmap_test is where I made my map with nested buttons.Then Flash Map just calls and brings in Flashmap_test.

I'm trying to make a UI editor and I'm using a color picker component I found online. I've tried a couple different color picker components but they all seem to have the same issue. If I put an instance of the component on the stage and run the movie, it works fine. The text showing the current color (in hex) as well as any button labels show up and all is well. If I take that same component and put it in another movie clip and put THAT mc on the stage, all is still right with the world. However, if I give that mc a linkage ID and load it using an attachMovie call, all text is blank. I thought it may have to do with embedding, but the button labels are static text, so that shouldn't be an issue.
