.I downloaded this OS X dock template:Url...I got the pictures all changed to what I want, but I can't figure out how to insert the getURL command to make each icon hyperlink to a new webpage.I know it's in ActionScript 2.0, and that the pictures are movie clips.I know things have to be buttons to hyperlink in flash, but will I lose the OS X effect if I make that change?If someone could walk me through setting this up to have hyperlinking icons, that would be fantastic. Using Macromedia Flash Pro 8.Adobe Flash CS3 Pro is also an option.
View 2 RepliesI need to execute some javascript string code from flash swf file using actionscript 3.
I read that it could be done by passing the javascript code to the parent html document , using externalinterface.call function. Then I assume it will be faster if I can declare functions in the javascript code in the HTML document in the first use of externalinterface.call funtion ; if flash code calls the javascript code repeatedly. So let me ask you how to do that. For details , any javascript to be loaded is unknown in design time and I can not prepare a javascript file to be loaded.
I'm looking for a way to embed Flash into a XHTML Transitional page that does not rely on enabled JavaScript, which validates and that works across all major Browsers including IE6. So far I'm using this solution which seems to work just fine:[URL]...However, when this method is used in an RSS Feed it seems that Feedburner and Google Reader at least (maybe other feed readers, too) strip the whole object tags and only leave the alternative content.
View 2 RepliesFor my wishlist site, I would like to propose widgets to my users in order to publish their wishlist on their blog or personal website. The idea is to propose a few lines of code to my users that they only need to copy/paste to insert the widget displaying their wishlist. What is the best way to create/develop a widget ?

View 9 RepliesIs there a non-polling way for Javascript to command Flash right when its external interface is ready? In Actionscript, I've registered a function for Javascript to call:[code]SWFObject lets you run code when Flash has been successfully embedded through a callback. I attempt to run $ ('flash Player'). doStuff in this callback, but it claims it's undefined. It seems that Flash needs some time to boot up its external interface. So I've been using a polling hack to find out when the external interface is ready:[code]There's a visually perceptible delay in the execution of doStuff and it makes my overall code structure muddy.
View 1 RepliesI've ran into a weird problem while trying to send a JSON command to my company's flash player. Basically, i am unable to pass a playlist to this player - nothing happens - using the following command:
player.sendEvent("LOAD_PLAYLIST", json_str);
but the weirdest part is that if I print the entire command using Firebug's console.log, copy it and paste it into the code (thus hardcoding the playlist), everything works like a charm.
For instance, the following code:
player.sendEvent("LOAD_PLAYLIST", "{"streams": [{"src": "rtmp://xxx.xxx.xx:80/redirectvodxxx/nas2.share/h264/512x384/progname1/prog_1_20110804.mp4"},{"src": "rtmp://xxx.xxx.xx:80/redirectvodxxx/nas2.share/h264/512x384/progname2/prog_2_20110804.mp4"},{"src": "rtmp://xxx.xxx.xx:80/redirectvodxxx/nas2.share/h264/512x384/progname3/prog_3_20110804.mp4"}]}");
was obtained using
console.log('[loadNewListofContents] playing the following content list: player.sendEvent("LOAD_PLAYLIST", ' + json_str.toString() + ');');
and if i hardcode it, it works!I've tried all the toString() tricks I can think of (ex: json_str.toString(), '"' + json_str.toString() + '"', etc...) but so far no such luck.
I'm trying to design an interface that to simplify the construction of a string. Here's an example: My output (using the getURL command) needs to be in the form of: http:[url].....
I'm able to define variables for x, y, and z, however I am unable to figure out how to substitute the defined values for those variables into the string when it is time to send it.
What's the command for choosing the biggest value out of for ex. 5 variables? Math.max(); can only take 2 values.

View 2 Replieshow to refresh the dynamic varaibles using the loadVariables command? At the moment they are caching on the web - but it works the way i want it when tested in Flash.
View 1 RepliesWith out getting into a ton of background I am wondering if there is a command that will reset all the variables in a swf at once with out having to do them individually?
I've googled and searched my books and can't find anything. Another option I could see is having the current flash reload, that would set everything back to the start but I couldn't find how to do that either.
Anyone know?
I am making a simple math quiz game that generates two numbers randomly and then the user has a keypad to enter the answer. I trace not only the real answer to each question but also what the user punches in and I even have it so that it checks to make sure the user's answer is correct.
What I need now is to find a way to export that data into an html page. I think I can do so with php, but I really need it to go into javascript. Does anyone know how I can send this data, either in a string or as integers to Javascript? I believe that the integers would be best.

View 1 RepliesI have a simple standalone application written in Visual Basic that I'm porting to a browser based application using PHP/javascript. The original VB application has some simple embedded flash games with token and point counters. The token and point values are being passed as variables between the application and the game.
I'm trying to achieve the same effect in my PHP port without modifying the actionscript code( using the variables in actionscript that already exist). Below is Visual Basic code that's loading a value from a database and posting that value to flash using FlashVars:

In my Javascript I am adding a variable ('videoToPlay') in order for it to be passed to the Flash object with the purpose of using it to specify which video among a list of scrolling videos is to be played.

View 1 RepliesI've created a Flash app that calls on a php file to grab data from mysql, and returns it back to Flash. It runs just great on it's own.
The data-loading code looks like this, and works just fine:In AS3:
Code:
// Grabs the data from the MySQL db via a PHP file
var myLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
myLoader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES;
myLoader.load(new URLRequest("data.php"));

The SWF renders just fine on it's own, all data comes through.THE PROBLEM: Running that very same SWF inside of a custom Drupal PHP node does not work. I get IOERROR 2032 returning. I know the database connection does work just fine in Drupal because I take the above PHP code, apply it directly to the custom PHP node WITHOUT the SWF, and all the data spits out on the node page. For whatever reason, with an SWF which is inside of a Drupal node, the SWF cannot call on a PHP file for return data. I don't have time to figure this out, so...
Because I can successfully spit the PHP return data out on the same node page as the SWF, how can I transfer that data to the SWF on the same page?Instead of using URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES in AS3, how would I call on a plain old array from javascript on the same page as the SWF?
How can I pass variables to be used on the page the flash is embed?
View 1 RepliesI have a flash player embedded on page page.php?user=john using swfobject. The player calls the xml file content.php to get the results. I'm trying to get the user name from the url id. and fetch results based on that. I can get the username on page.php by doing $_GET['user'], but how can i pass that to content.php. Having read allot of articles online, i did the following,I'm embedding the flash on page.php using swfobject like this
<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {user:"<?php $_GET[user] ?>"};
var so = new SWFObject("<?php echo $index->CFG['site']['url'];?>preview2.swf", "sotester",
Does anyone know the correct syntax for setting a variable on _root using Javascript?
The Macromedia site says:
<!-- javascript
movie.SetVariable("/:varname", "varvalue");
However, this notation is quite old. I haven't been able to get it to work.
I am makeing a flash css generator to cusomize myspace profiles, I am up to the point where the full css code is generated, and then assigned to a variable. I am trying to make a preview button that will open a new browser window with a sample myspace profile but using the css defined in the flash variable. I can't seen to figure this out, I have found that the only way might be to use fscommands and a javascript gateway, but I am not well versed in javascript. Im at a standstill, I don't want to release my flash program until I have all its features operational, I have spent the last 2 weeks pulling allnighters from concept & design, to deciding features, and everyone who has beta tested for me says it can't compare to the other editors without a preview option. and I agree.
