does anyone have a simple way of accessing files on the SAME server, but just below the web root folder?
I'm trying to do a 'loadSound("../../mp3s/filename.mp3", true); but I've found that flash doesn't like to access files below the web root.
As titled, what is the way to record video/audio files using Flash Meida Server through rmtp, and allow users to access the recorded files through http?What I am trying to do, is to record a user's microphone's input and save it to the server.fterwards, I would like other users to be able to access the recorded files and mainuplating the audio data, by computeSpectrum(), to do some visualization of the audio. As I know computeSpectrum() cannot work on streaming files, so I think I need to access the recorded files using http instead of rmtp. Is that true?

View 6 RepliesI have 2 AS files. One is my main file which i have as the Document Class. The other I am trying to get to be a "sub as. file" that will load when the main one loads. The main Class loads pictures through xml. The subclass, (I guess it would be called), loads all of the elements that I need on the stage, such as the forward and back buttons etc.
My main class is

Now, at first when I published the flash it gave me some errors that were in StageElements class so I fixed them and it loads all fine now without errors and the pictures come up but the stage elements do not. I know that my StageElements class works because I have tried it out as the Document Class the .fla uses.

can you write and modify XML files using server-side Actionscript? I've been going through Adobe's Server-side Actionscript reference, reading up on the File class that lets you modify files on the server, and the server-side XML class that lets you read and 'understand' XML data, but can you put them together and essentially edit XML files on the server?

View 2 RepliesI have Adobe Flash Media Server 3.01 installed on my server. I can record files via user's webcam and convert them to .flv with spesific compression sizes. But i want my users my users to upload an .avi, .mpeg / .mpg, .mov etc file via an http form and after upload finishes i want fms to convert file to flv.
It can be done with the ffmpeg tool free but i wonder if interactive server has a feature like this.
I have a problem on streaming my files with the FMS 4. There are several testfiles on my VOD-directory, most of them with a length about 2 minutes. Altough there are some with 12 minutes. So if i want to play all those files with the StrobeMediaPlayer, only the files with a 12 minutes length are working, on the others the player ist sayin "We are unable to connect to the content you´ve requested. We apologize for the inconveniece.".ind any option or notice where it says there is a minimum lenght to stream... so whats going wrong here?Additional Infos:FLV, MP4H.264 + AAC
View 1 RepliesI have an flash application that captures a web cam video stream and stores it on the FMS server.I notice when I create a brand new video, and store it on my FMS server, it works fine.When I make another video and my application overrides the file with the new video, this is where I get problems.When I download the flv file from the FMS server, and I play it locally it plays fine, but the timeline is weird.The web player freezes the video during that first 15 seconds.A 30 second video, will have a time line of like 45 seconds, the local flv player is smart enough to skip over the paused part of the video.You will see it skip over the timeline to the good video (from 0sec to 15 secs). The web player freezes the video during that first 15 seconds.

I browse to the image files (no problem so far) by when I select the file to load I get an input/output error. I CAN load images successfully if they are in the same folder (directory) as the Flash application I am creating. Is it possible to load image files selected from folders other than the active application folder?

Is there any simple way you can access a very short sound file in flash without having to play it in an flv player. its just a ding sound to play when the user hits a button in the presentation.Also is it possible to access an external pic file and then convert it in to a symbol to be used within my presentation.I just don't want to store these files to keep my main swf small.
View 3 RepliesI have flash (AIR) application running on a single controlled system (there is only one computer running it and nobody has access to it).I will host some files on Amazon's S3 and I need to make sure that only my flash app running locally on that computer can access those files.I'm wondering what the best (most secure) approach would be for doing this.My initial thought is to make the files on S3 private and store the secret key on the local computer running the flash app. Then when I needed to access the files from flash I would send out an authenticated query string with some expiration time. The only problem with this is that I don't know how to generate the S3 signature in flash. Also I'm a little skeptical about storing the secret key on the flash machine (even though it's a privately owned machine with no other users using it).Is there a better approach perhaps?I have access to a server with PHP, so I could maybe use that as some kind of proxy, I'm just not sure how while keeping the file access secure and not creating a bottleneck through the web server (as opposed to direct access to S3).

Short description of my project:I'm making a "flash-car-damage-registration-program" where a user can click on a part of a car, make two choices (from two comboboxes) that describes the damage, and then save it in a datagrid withing flash.I have split up the code in different class files:I have a damage.as class file that describes the damage and its properties.I have a carPart.as class file that extends the Movieclip class. This sets all the propertiesof each carpart and where the roll-over/out eventlisteners are, pluss som escriptive text to each carpart. This works the way I want it to. This is just to quickly give you an idea of what I'm working on.So to the real question or problem: I have a LoadMyXmlData.as class file where I load some xml data, this works fine. A function in this class takes a combobox and a xmllist as parameters.
I want to populate the mentioned comboboxes from the xml data. Both comboboxes are on the stage within another movieclip, but I can seem to access them. (yes, they have instancenames etc) I get error 1120: 'Access of undefined property'. I have tried ways like: containingMc.comboboxMc' and so forth but no luck. I have been searching the web for days for a solution to my problem, but nothing so far.
Is it possible to host my /media/ directory on a different server (that has more space) and have FMS Link to it to player VOD ?

The background data is what I'm interested in - so how can I get hold of the .asmx file? I already know what it's called. I can't get at the .asmx file directly, but can I grab it using Mechanize?

I'm working on an image gallery application. Very frequently I'm getting Sandbox violation Error like Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.. Some times its raising by cleaning the project. Every time I'm using my application's backup and updating and then the error is raising. Though I'm accessing local image files, getting error. I'm using try-catch to catch the location but no use.
View 2 RepliesI am creating a web page that allows users to upload their own swf files to my web page, which are then used by the main web page as components. This creates a security issue though because I don't want the uploaded swf files to access other files on the server.
when the main webpage starts, it loads whatever third party swf files the user specifies. Is there a way for my main web page to change the security settings of the loaded swf so that the loaded swf is treated like it was loaded from another domain? Or is there another way I can provent these uploaded swfs from accessing local files on the server.

I have deplyed my application on local server having Live IP. I want to access chat application from an organisation having some proxy settings using live IP giving in address bar. I'm able to view my web page but not able to connect with FMS. but when I'm trying to connect same application using independent inter connection(without any proxy setting) then I'm able to access FMS. reply ASAP.

For some reason I can't access movieclips that are not instantiated on the first frame, more than this - all movieclips that are not instantiated on the first frame and have some animation inside of them, won't stop looping, like there is no stop() action inside, but it is there. And even more than this - everything works fine when i'm using other server. Both servers have crossdomain.xml file that looks the same. I don't get no crossdomain errors and no other warnings. I'm using Security.allowDomain('*') function in both files.

But I want to retrive this .FLV using HTTP mode, to load the .FLV progressively, not by streaming. Got it? For example, if I record a user webcam called "myWebcam": myVideoClass.load("[URL]");
Using http (progressively), not rtmpt (streaming). There is some way to do that? Or to move the file from applications folder to webroot?
I'm testing out Adobe Flash Media Server and Wowza Flash Server and am trying to accomplish the following... Web server and Flash server are on different computers... Flash server is configured to stream vod files (.flv) from a remote file share (UNC path) on a separate Windows domain server.
I was able to get both servers configured and working. The final piece is to move both Flash servers to the DMZ segment of our firewall and test from outside our network. On the DMZ, the Wowza Server is able to connect to the remote file share and stream video as it's apparently leveraging the credentials I entered when I mapped a network drive to the file share and supplied valid domain credentials. The Adobe Flash Server is not able to connect to the remote file share and stream video because it seems that the connection method that the Adobe Flash Server uses is reliant upon the Adobe Flash Server Windows service account being a domain account... and when the server is on the DMZ it cannot access our domain controllers to authenticate.
Does anybody have any experience with this type of situation.? Or know if there's a way for Adobe Flash Server to leverage drive mapping credentials as opposed to the credentials that it starts the Windows service with?
Does anybody know how to make a folder inaccessible by direct address yet accessible to a flash file within that domain? Consider the following scenario.[URL]
View 9 RepliesWe purchased FMIS and we are encoding large 15+ hour MP4 recordings using flash media encoder. When opening these large files for playback, which have not been opened recently the player displays the loading indicator for up to 4 minutes! Once it has apparently been cached on the server it opens immediately from any browser even after clearing local browser cache. So a few questions for the experts
1. Why is it taking so long to load the file. Is it because the MP4 metadata is in the wrong format and the file is so huge? I read somewhere that Media Encoder records with incorrect MP4 metadata is that still the case?
2. Once its cached on the server, exactly how much of it is cached. Some of these files are larger than 500mb.
3. What fms settings do you suggest I change. FMIS is running on windows server R2 64 bit, but FMIS itself is 32 bit. We have not upgraded to the 64 bit version. We have 8GB of ram. Is it OK to set FMS cache to 3GB. And would that only have enough room for 3-4 large files, because we have hundreds of them.
I am using flash media server 4.5 for video streaming and genrate log files. In log file i have found the user publish point name in "x-sname" filed but this filed contains blank values in many events.This fileds contains value only in "PUBLISH,UN_PUBLISH,RECORD and PUBLISH_CONTONUE" event and other then these 4 events all events are not user related event.?I like to fetch the user bandwidth detials using these log files which user used how many bandwidth.I also like to know I can see serval files on flash log folder name "access.00.log,access001.log and admin.00.log,admin.001.log" Any one please explain what is the name convation for this filed how can i identifiy which files contains information for which date.?
