Dec 20, 2010I need a way to set the permissions (ex 0777) for the recorded streams without calling any additionals scripts.

View 2 RepliesI have configured FMS on Amazon EC2 I am trying to capture data from my webcam and push it to the server.For storing the webcam i created a new folder but as it is recommended in other forums "You need to replace the signed Live application (main.far) with main.asc in[FMS-Install-Dir]/samples/applications/live/ ;(For more Info: refer to documentations & live/readme.txt) "I am not able to locate samples folder from where i can get my main.asc file
View 4 RepliesI try to switch or change a server-side stream, it starts lagging after 2 seconds of playing and sound disappears. Here are scenarios that result in that terrible lag:
1. I create server-side playlist with stream.play() with reset=false; when it is time to play the next movie in the playlist, it starts lagging after 2 seconds.
2. The same problems appears when I just switch streams. I installed FMF Feature Explorer and tried to launch SwitchStreams sample application: the same problem - server stream starts lagging after I switch streams with stream.play().
I tried on different servers (local and remote), with different players (debug player of FMS Admin Console, Standard Flash videoplayer component, OSMF player, Flex video player). I also tried all possible flv, f4v and mp4 file compression options for video files - still the same problem. I have also tried literally thousands of Application.xml settings: changing buffer, buffer ration etc. Is there any tip where I should search for a solution?
As titled, what is the way to record video/audio files using Flash Meida Server through rmtp, and allow users to access the recorded files through http?What I am trying to do, is to record a user's microphone's input and save it to the server.fterwards, I would like other users to be able to access the recorded files and mainuplating the audio data, by computeSpectrum(), to do some visualization of the audio. As I know computeSpectrum() cannot work on streaming files, so I think I need to access the recorded files using http instead of rmtp. Is that true?
View 1 RepliesI want to limit server recorded netstream length to 10 secs at client side using as3. How can I do that?
View 2 RepliesI have an *.flv file on a FMS. When I play it on the client side the video plays just fine, but when I call Stream.play(filename, 0, -1, false) on the server side the video turns out really choppy.I both cases I use NetConnection to connect to an rtmp and NetStream to play the stream, but in one case I connect to a stream and request the server to play my file on that stream. Apparently that doesn't work with files? It works just fine for live streams.
View 20 RepliesI understand how clients use bandwidth detection etc to dynamically switch streams via client calls with ns.play2( ... ), but I was wondering if it's possible to only ever use 1 initial ns.play( ... ) call on the client side, but let FMS server side logic that I write dictate which client sees what content. For example, I have 3 clients connected to my FMS server, all watching a live stream. I then decide I want clientA to see 'recordedMovieA.flv', clientB to continue seeing the live stream, and clientC to watch 'recordedMovieB.flv'.

I am recording a video and while recording I issue some NetStream.send("doSomething", params) commands from client side. When I am playing back this video I receive the doSomething events on client side. No problems so far.Can I receive those events on server side? I want to handle those events on server side. Not client side.
View 2 RepliesWhy can't (or better yet) you kill client stream from server side - I seen some code that FME may call on server side like s= stream.get(streamOBJ.name); s.play(false); delete s; application.gc(); // over kill but still did not work
View 2 RepliesWhen a DVR stream finishes publishing, can you use the cached file as a VOD? Where is the DVR file stored?
View 1 RepliesI have a problem with server side caching on FMS (3.5.3).I've taken the live main.asc and modified it in order to record streams on the server with timestamp names.as follows:
/*
* application.onAppStart:
* is called when application load. It contains Live (out of the box)
* application specific initializations.

I use FMLE (3.1) to stream to the server and all works fine when i have only 1 stream going at one only time.Now when i have several clients streaming to my server, the new client will stop the old client recording after a minute or so. tracing doesnt even flag the fact that the stream is stopping recording.
There seems to be great documentation on multicasting live streams.I can't find anything about multicasting recorded stream. Is there documentation? Or any other sources of info on multicasting recorded streams?
View 4 RepliesI use FMLE 3 streaming and recording (DVR) to FMS 3.5, and the sample DVR scripts on FMS for recording the live stream, but the recorded stream not playable (from the remote FMS with FLVPlayback and from my local Developer FMS with Adobe Video Player too). The recorded file is crashed.
View 3 RepliesFlash Media Server (finally) supports multicast video. But documentation about this feature is about multicasting live video

I need to move recorded media files at my fms account to some other ftp account. How can i achieve this through server side scripting.
View 2 RepliesI'm streaming live video through FMS 3 and passing the streams to another FMS application to be recorded. While recording, I inject some custom metadata into the stream. Once recording is finished, I move the flv to another location and update my database with the metadata contained in the stream for later reference. All this succeeds without a problem.
However, only sometimes, the default 'duration' metadata (note - I never mess with the duration metadata, merely insert my own fields that are required for other reasons) is COMPLETELY wrong
how to copy a recorded live stream to a new drive on the server? I can copy the file within the virtual app directory but not to another drive.
The only solution i found was to edit the application.xml:
<StreamManager> <StorageDir>e:Sync</StorageDir> </StreamManager>
But unfortunately i need to rename the file once its recorded, and i'm having a hard time accessing that drive/directory where the file is located.
can you write and modify XML files using server-side Actionscript? I've been going through Adobe's Server-side Actionscript reference, reading up on the File class that lets you modify files on the server, and the server-side XML class that lets you read and 'understand' XML data, but can you put them together and essentially edit XML files on the server?
View 2 RepliesNetStream.play(streamName, -1); This seems to be working wrong.if I have recorded an flv on server using FMS and FMLE with only audio with name "myaudio" and then after if I try to play a live stream using NetStream.play("myaudio", -1) then it plays the recorded stream. I believe that documentation says that it should start a live stream instead of playing recorded stream as the second argument is -1. Is this a bug in NetStream.play method?
View 3 RepliesI'm having a very frustrating problem with FMS. A stream recorded on the server-side won't play until I restart the server.
The user flow I'm currently working with is:
1. record webcam stream
2. close the stream
3. call FMS function to post process the stream
4. FMS joins the recorded webcam stream with two pre-recorded videos and stores as a new stream
Then, knowing the new stream name, I'm trying to play it. However, I'm always seeing its last frame and it doesn't play. Surprisingly, restarting the server and re-connecting to it helps, then I can play the stream.
So I wonder if (server-side):
var stream = Stream.get("streamName");
stream.record();
stream.play(...);
stream.play(...);
stream.play(...);
I have successfully been able to write some client-side ActionScript that allows me to record my webcam and mic data to my FMS server. The .flv files get saved to a directory under the applications directory. However, I need to process those flv files for a web application and would like those .flv files to be saved to the web app's directory (outside of the FMS application directory). I have tried changing the <Streams> tag in the Application.xml file that I placed in the FMS application directory, but that simply did not work.My goal is simple: to save the recorded stream data outside of the FMS application's directory. I have been going crazy trying to do this, but would like to know any pointers that any of you experts have. Can this be done? If not, how can I execute a server side PHP script after the stream is done recording. I know about using the exec() function in PHP, but am unsure as to how to execute that script via client-side actionscript.Here is the path to my FMS server (Linux OS) installation and the application directory. The application name is "ngale"./opt/adobe/fms/applications/ngaleHere is the path that my client-side ActionScript is placing the .flv files of the recorded streams/opt/adobe/fms/applications/ngale/streams/recordings/Here is the path to my web application/home/user/public_html/dev.ngale.net/public/Here is the path that I would like for the .flv recording files to be saved to/home/user/public_html/dev.ngale.net/public/audio/.flv
View 5 RepliesIs it possible to limit the length of live recorded video stream to N minutes/MegaBytes by SSAS in FMS? If the aggregate size of stream outcomes the limit,always make the recorded video file the last N minutes/MegaBytes of the live show? remove the video file and record from the beginning when arriving N minutes/MegaBytes?

View 1 RepliesI am using adobe dvrcast to record my live streams. the problem I am having is when I stop the encode during a live stream, a new file is not created, the existing stream is written over. How can I preventive this from occuring. Is there a way to have all vod files that are in one folder to roll over to the next file during play back.
View 12 Repliesmy name is Göran and I know this is probably the wrong place to post my question but as far as I can see there´s no forum for FMLE here. I´m using the betaversion for mac. I was broadcasting to justin tv last night and decided to try out the record feature i FMLE. It looked like it worked ok and a 125 mb f4v landed on my harddrive. There´s no way I can play it back though or for that matter convert it mov etc etc. What am I doing wrong do I need another special app for playback or converting. Seem a bit strange if this feature is onboard the FMLE but you can´t use it.
View 3 RepliesThere are some recorded flv files. The guy in the video is showing numbers with his hands. (1.flv, 2.flv, 3.flv etc) And there are live idle videos. In these idle videos the guy doesnt do anything.
I need to be able to click 1 as the operator and viewers should see the guy make "1" in the video. Actually I have accomplished so far. It works. I do this:
If the operator selects a video it adds the video to playlist: stream.play(filename, -2, -1, false);
Also have this event handler to play a random idle video when there are no more action videos lined up:
function onStreamStatus(obj) {
if (obj.code != "NetStream.Play.Stop") return;
switch (obj.code) {
[Code].....
So it is working so far. Problem is:
As time goes by there appears to be a delay between I issue the play command on the stream and I actually see it in the video on client side.
Suppose we have FMS on A system and if we want to save the recorded FLV files on the B system.
View 4 RepliesI have started a stream from Flash media encoder to flash media server. According to my encoder, it should be located at: "rtmp://localhost/live" and is called livestream.In the Flash software I try and set the source of FLVPlayback component to rtmp://localhost/live/livestream", and I get this error: "NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound : Adobe Flash tried to play a live or recorded stream that does not exist. Source can't be found.". Both the server and encoder is runnind and I am encoding.
View 12 RepliesIt's natural for users to find something interesting and record it when subscribing to a live video,
but so far I can only record it when publishing,
