I looking for a hosting of FMS for a video conferencing application. Each flex application will be able to connect a camera and microphone and broadcast it to Flash Media Interactive Server. Listner will play the published live stream. First I thougt I will be able to do so over Amazon Web Services Content Delivery Network Cloud Front, but it looks that this is for playing stored files only. May you please give me some names of hosting providers that have presence in US, Europe and if possible other places?

Media Server :: Recording Video/audio Files Using Flash Media Server Through Rmtp, And Allow Users To Access The Recorded Files Through Http?

May 25, 2009

As titled, what is the way to record video/audio files using Flash Meida Server through rmtp, and allow users to access the recorded files through http?What I am trying to do, is to record a user's microphone's input and save it to the server.fterwards, I would like other users to be able to access the recorded files and mainuplating the audio data, by computeSpectrum(), to do some visualization of the audio. As I know computeSpectrum() cannot work on streaming files, so I think I need to access the recorded files using http instead of rmtp. Is that true?

Media Server :: Playing F4v Files In FMS3.1

Feb 19, 2010

I thought that FMS3.1 supported f4v files but I cannot get mine to play.  It says it cannot find the stream specified but the file is right where all my other files are that do play fine (both flv and mp4 files).  Am I incorrect in thinking that FMS3.1 supports f4v files or do I have the wrong code?

Media Server :: Playing Recorded Files As If They Were Live

Jan 10, 2011

There are some recorded flv files. The guy in the video is showing numbers with his hands. (1.flv, 2.flv, 3.flv etc) And there are live idle videos. In these idle videos the guy doesnt do anything.

I need to be able to click 1 as the operator and viewers should see the guy make "1" in the video. Actually I have accomplished so far. It works. I do this:

If the operator selects a video it adds the video to playlist:   stream.play(filename, -2, -1, false);

Also have this event handler to play a random idle video when there are no more action videos lined up:

function onStreamStatus(obj) {
if (obj.code != "NetStream.Play.Stop") return;
switch (obj.code) {

[Code].....

So it is working so far. Problem is:

As time goes by there appears to be a delay between I issue the play command on the stream and I actually see it in the video on client side.

Media Server :: Flash Media Server Taking Forever To Load Large Files

Jan 12, 2011

We purchased FMIS and we are encoding large 15+ hour MP4 recordings using flash media encoder. When opening these large files for playback, which have not been opened recently  the player displays the loading indicator for up to 4 minutes! Once it has apparently been cached on the server it opens immediately from any browser even after clearing local browser cache. So a few questions for the experts

1. Why is it taking so long to load the file. Is it because the MP4 metadata is in the wrong format and the file is so huge? I read somewhere that Media Encoder records with incorrect MP4 metadata is that still the case?

2. Once its cached on the server, exactly how much of it is cached. Some of these files are larger than 500mb.

3. What fms settings do you suggest I change. FMIS is running on windows server R2 64 bit, but FMIS itself is 32 bit. We have not upgraded to the 64 bit version. We have 8GB of ram. Is it OK to set FMS cache to 3GB. And would that only have enough room for 3-4 large files, because we have hundreds of them.

Media Server :: Switch Or Change A Server-side Stream - Starts Lagging After 2 Seconds Of Playing And Sound Disappears

Jan 28, 2010

I try to switch or change a server-side stream, it starts lagging after 2 seconds of playing and sound disappears. Here are scenarios that result in that terrible lag:

1. I create server-side playlist with stream.play() with reset=false; when it is time to play the next movie in the playlist, it starts lagging after 2 seconds.

2. The same problems appears when I just switch streams. I installed FMF Feature Explorer and tried to launch SwitchStreams sample application: the same problem - server stream starts lagging after I switch streams with stream.play().

I tried on different servers (local and remote), with different players (debug player of FMS Admin Console, Standard Flash videoplayer component, OSMF player, Flex video player). I also tried all possible flv, f4v and mp4 file compression options for video files - still the same problem. I have also tried literally thousands of Application.xml settings: changing buffer, buffer ration etc. Is there any tip where I should search for a solution?

Media Server :: Use A Separate Video Hosting Company To Handle My Mobile Videos?

Dec 14, 2010

- Is there a benefit to hosting FLV files on a Flash Media Server when they are under 2-3 minutes?I've been working on a couple different video projects as of late... some are simple web player with 30 second ads and others are working with longer videos like 2-3 minutes. I currently have an FLV hosting provider running Flash Media Server but with videos so small don't they download for the user as progressive anyway and there is no real benefit whether I am using my FLV host or my traditional web host?

i also use a separate video hosting company to handle my mobile videos mainly because I am a bit naive on how that works as well. I had a project with straight links to play video on mobile phones (with three different version served up based on OS). But it seems like most of those were progressive downloads as well.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Writing And Modifying XML Files Using Server-Side / Flash Media Server?

can you write and modify XML files using server-side Actionscript? I've been going through Adobe's Server-side Actionscript reference, reading up on the File class that lets you modify files on the server, and the server-side XML class that lets you read and 'understand' XML data, but can you put them together and essentially edit XML files on the server?

Media Server :: User ID In Flash Media Server Log Files?

May 13, 2010

We may be using Flash Media Server in an intranet only scenario. All users will be watching the videos from Windows boxes. Our users who are creating the videos want to track usage by user ID. Does the server log the client's user ID? Is that what c-client-id is? If c-client-id is used to store Windows user name do I need to turn on AD/windows authentication to get that info? I see that IP address is stored, but it would be simpler if the user Id were in the log file.

Media Server :: Video Freezes When Overriding Flv Files On FMS Server

Aug 10, 2011

I have an flash application that captures a web cam video stream and stores it on the FMS server.I notice when I create a brand new video, and store it on my FMS server, it works fine.When I make another video and my application overrides the file with the new video, this is where I get problems.When I download the flv file from the FMS server, and I play it locally it plays fine, but the timeline is weird.The web player freezes the video during that first 15 seconds.A 30 second video, will have a time line of like 45 seconds, the local flv player is smart enough to skip over the paused part of the video.You will see it skip over the timeline to the good video (from 0sec to 15 secs). The web player freezes the video during that first 15 seconds.
