ActionScript 2.0 :: Alert Box Functionality In Flash?
Oct 21, 2005
i've seen this technique done a few times and for the life of me I cannot figure it out. Basically, while in FLASH customized movieclip that looks like an alert box pops up and disables the entire movie behind it with a black transparent overlay. Where have I seen this, well, Macromedia uses it all the time on their site but mainly in their cart... thus I ran accross a different site the other day that also does the same thing.[URL]..
On the following page that loads hit "I agree" at the bottom to enter the movie clip.Then once the clip loads look to the top right and choose "file" then "new" and automatically you'll see what I'm talking about for they prompt you to do something when choosing "new".
I created an event handler to override the tab and tab + shift functionality, as tabIndex was not working as I expected it to. (I have some dynamic check boxes and it was taking two tabs to get into the VBox group and a couple of other anomalies).
I added some alert boxes so I could see what the current target is, now I have the functionality working perfectly...but when I remove the alert boxes the tab and shift/tabs do not work.
I tried to replace the alerts with trace's to no avail. I also tried to enclose the code around a switch statement and add breaks.
I am having an issue where I show an AlertBox message when the user hits ENTER and the focus is in a text area. The pop up works fine, but when the user hits enter the Alert closes as expected, but the TextArea listener receives the ENTER event from the Alert and pops the dialog up again. I have tried a number of ways to catch and eat the event but so far I have not been lucky. Is there way to accomplish this?
public function init():void { myTextInput.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP, handleKeyStrokes);[code]....
I want to use RTMP based HTTP DVR functionality and HLS based IOS functionality, So I need to know how to MPP from my existing DVR app to the livepkgr app so that the stream being recorded at the DVR app can be used by the Flash and Stream MPP over to livepkgr app and can be used by the IOS HLS.
I would like to have a quick message displayed on the screen for a few seconds after a user clicks a button. I can't seem to find an Alert Box or Dialog Box option in Flash CS4.
I have an AS2 Flash SWF that is calling another AS2 Flash File using loadMovieNum("flash.swf",2) and a JavaScript file that calls a function on page using a timer. This is what I get in Firefox with Flash 10 (IE8 gives no error message):
uncaught exception: Error calling method on NPObject! [plugin exception:
Error in Actionscript. Use a try/catch block to find error.].
What is going wrong? I can't see a problem. It is suppose to clear the contents of the embedded swf and use a Flash alert dialog to confirm Yes or No.
Everytime I try to do even an ExternalInterface.call('alert','abc'); (Which will work on every browser) I get an object doesn't support this property or method After the alert appears. It even happens in the HTML generated by flash without me touching it...
I am using Flex 4 and running into some problems displaying a simple alert box. The alert box shows up, but the text seems to be the same color as the background. I know the text is there because if I mouse over in the alert box window to roughly where the text would be, I can see the cursor change. And when I double click and copy-paste into notepad, I can see the message. But the message, the button text, the message box title don't show up.The relevant code in my project is as follows
I have a colleague who will be using Adobe Flex and adobe flash builder to design the application. The final application will be in that software. I am creating the database features and testing them using online browsers.What I want to know is that some alerts I am getting a 'prevent this message from multiple dialogues' message on the alert but this is because of the browsers. But if the application is on flex and flash builder (I don't know which one is where the app is stored coz I have never used it) then will that message appear on some alerts in that software or is it only on browsers?[code]
I have a flex app and I am adding a callback method like this:
private function init():void { ExternalInterface.addCallback( "playVideo", playVideo ); }
[code].....
However if I uncomment and run the alert first. I get no error and it works perfectly.My first thought was that the alert was buying time until the script could execute, so i tried to run the script inside a setTimeout() but did not work.
I have a group of movie clips, each placed randomly on the stage. I want to be able to click one of the movie clips and move them around. They are stored in an array.
Can I Use data from external Text file for JavaScript alert message in flash? I wanted to change the alert message dynamically using the external text file.
1. I created the text file with data as: &Enter=Please Enter
2. And the flash action script i used is as below..
var message1; message1 = trace(Enter); loadVariables("temp.txt", ""); getURL("javascript:alert('"+message1+"')");
But this is not working properly. It showing me the alert window but the message it showing as 'undefined'
make a flash application using SWF Studio and Flash 8. I would like this app. to have search functionalities - whereby a user can search and get results linked to the particular section where the text is.
I have a custom mxml component that contains a couple of images and 4 buttons. The component file already contains a clickHandler for each of the buttons. I need to be able to either access the clickHandler or create another function and attach it to those buttons from within my Main.mxml file. Should I add to the original clickHandlers? if so, how do I apply the method to my Main.mxml file?[code]...
Actually i will tell u the reqmnt wat am looking for... i've done some animation in flash 8 and it was simple animation moving a movieclip vertically from keyframe 1 to 100. And i published the animation, i got an html file as well. still now everything is good. i can click the html file and can see the o/p now when am trying to open the same html second time, i need to display a popup mentioning do u want to continue the animation from wher u stoped on clicking yes, it has to start from wher u stopd earlier. if no, start from the beginning of the keyframe..

I have a requirement like when I type 2 characters in email field if that email id exists in DB then I need to show remaining emails starting with those characters needs to display in dropdown list. Like Tags part in stackoverflow site, Is it possible in flex this functionality?
I have a video player that when buttons are pressed a video loads and plays. Every once in a while when I button mash I am able to get mulitple videos playing at once. I thought I had set the code up to remove all children before loading another video.I have a feeling that my issues can ultimatly be fixed using the BUFFERING_STATE_ENTERED listener.
Is there a good way to disable all buttons on the screen while BUFFERING_STATE_ENTERED is active and turn everything back on once BUFFERING_STATE_ENTERED is complete?
Basically i need to create a copy of all that functionality. What should i use for that? i was doing AS 2 for a year about 2 years ago. You can just say: this methods, this classes etc.
I know it can be done in papevision[URL]...html but I'd like to be able to do it just using Flash's 3D functionality. I'm aware that its more 2.5D but was wondering if anybody knew how to create a situation can view it with 3D glasses (red and blue)
I have been using the default built in flash all over my app, but now I realized that I need to have some more functionality with it: - I need the messages to auto hide avec a given number of seconds (specifiable for each message would be great) - I need to have a little closing button, so the customer can get rid of it whenever - I need to be able to add a simple href link in there that the user can click if he wants.
