Feb 13, 2012I'm trying to learn Flash, and thought I had it figured out for motion tweens. I'm using CS3. I created a background and added 4 images. I created a motion tween for the first image (on it's own layer), but when I try to run it, all the other images and background dissappears. The tween works, but the rest is invisible, just turns white.

Apr 10, 2009I've designed a Flash site in CS3 using Action Script 2.0 that has a main flash movie sorta floating in space over a gradient background. I want the gradient background to re-size with the browser, so I thought that the easiest way to do this would be to delete the gradient background in Flash and instead recreate the background in Dreamweaver using the repeat background option and then make the Flash movie's background transparent. (I hope I'm making some amount of sense here).
I've found a few tutorials on how to do this, but so far I just get a white background instead of transparent. I've tried choosing "Transparent - Windowless" under Window Mode on the HTML tab in Publish Settings. And I've tried selecting the movie from within DW and clicking the parameter button and adding a "wmode" parameter with "transparent" as its value.

The following function scales printResults_mcto the printers printable area but because isimpossible to predict the aspect ratio of the printable area someblack background always leaks out. Nov 19, 2010I have converted a large background image (much larger than the stage) into a Movie Clip. I did this so I can make it scroll as the player traverses to the edge of the scene.This appears to make the player free to roam the entire background image.I have a tree symbol with a class attached to it that blocks player movement.Here is my problem:
When I drag and drop instances of the tree symbol onto the background, the trees are stationary and do not scroll with the background.I do not want to have to implement code to make the trees scroll when the background does.I was wondering if there was a way to simply attach the trees to the background so that if the background moves, the trees move with it and appear to be part of the background as if they were drawn into it.It is convenient for me to be able to drag and drop as many trees as i need to block certain routes on the background from the player.I tried writing code to make the trees move but it was only working for the very last tree that I added to the scene.
Scaling Background / Whole SWF Object Without Tiling Background
May 15, 2009I really don't know much about flash or swf files but in updating my portfolio I came across Polaroid gallery. I have managed to update the background jpeg with my own picture and remove the fade effect. However in the original program the background was tileable so when seen in a full screen browser looked fine. As my picture is not tileable I would like to know if it is possible to scale the background or the whole swf object without tiling the background.

Jul 24, 2009I am relatively new to Flash CS3 and i have been learning Action-script 3 over the past week. I have come quite a long way and i have made a site in flash but i just have a question.I have been using an image as my background and i am happy with the way flash automatically scales all the objects in my file but the background image does not scale. Is there a way to do this? I have found out things online which show me how to add auto-resizing to the background but this knocks off the flash auto scaling/resizing for everything else.

Dec 16, 2009I am trying to build a fireplace in flash where the mantles, surround type and face plates are changable when a value from a drop down menu is selected.I put each of the objects(mantles, surround types and face plates) in a seperate layer and am making them visible/invisible by controlling the alpha property of each of the objects. It worked fine till i had about 30 layers/images on the flash file, but as i try to add new layers/ images the new layer sort of covers the first layer making it invisible.

I am using the text tool to write a paragraph of text which I type in to word to do spell check etc. Then I transfer to Flash and using the text tool paste it in. Now as soon as I let go of the mouse the text disappears but when I click on the text again it reappears why?

Mar 16, 2009I have a brand new Mac Pro (8-core "nehalem") and I'm having a very frustrating problem. While testing a movie within Flash, the Test Movie window will randomly go completely blank, showing the Stage color. The movie is still running, there's no error, it's just blank. When I resize the Test Movie window, everything reappears. Until a few seconds later, it snaps back to blank.I resize, it reappears, it disappears,I resize,it reappears, it disappears... over and over. Today is my first day really using this machine for Flash. The FLA worked perfectly fine on my old Quad G5 and on my Intel iMac at home, so I don't think it's an issue with my file. The graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 with 512MB VRAM. (the standard card that comes in the 8-cores.)

1. The Main Site preloader disappears when 60% is loaded...with a blank screen lag until moving to the main screen
2. My external .swf Preloader is still on screen after an external .swf has loaded. I can hear the external .swf playing while watching my loader bar at about 20-40%.

ActionScript 3.0 :: SWF Disappears After Publishing From CS4
Aug 28, 2011Everytime I publish a swf from CS4 on my machine the swf appears briefly in the file system then is removed immediately after completion. I'm running CS4, Win 7, publishing to FP10. The fla was originally CS5 but saved down to CS4. I've tried restarting flash, Windows etc., saving to different hard drives under different names but the same thing occurs creating a text file and renaming to assets.swf (the name of saif swf) is fine but if I publish to overwrite it it then disappears. The fla for this is stored within dropbox (could that be an issue?)

This seems like a very simple problem (might not even be a problem at all), but I can't figure out for the life of me.
Everytime I open up a new window, and as I randomly begin to draw in pencil or make rectangles, when the focus on the window is changed to somewhere else my drawings just disappear.
Mouse Over The 2 Buttons The Whole Thing Disappears?
Mar 26, 2009When you click on "works" on my site it reveals a menu with 2 other buttons, but when you try to mouse over the 2 buttons the whole thing dissapears. What I've done is set the "works" button to jump ahead in the animation to reveal the menu which is actually one large button with the 2 other buttons on top. The large button is set to - on rollout goto and play frame 1.

Jan 9, 2010I'm using Flash MX to create a website. The user navigates between different scenes/frames using buttons, just like moving to different pages in html (except the "pages" are different parts of the main movie's timeline).The problem I'm having is that on two embedded movie clips there are text boxes which dynamically load html-formatted text files (news updates for different topics). When I run the movie, both of these "pages"/"frames" work beautifully, but after the first time, when I come back to either of them, the dynamic text boxes' scrollbars have disappeared and the up/down scroll buttons don't work. By clicking on the loaded text and dragging I can force it to scroll, so all the content is there, but the controls are gone.
I've been searching forums for a couple of hours on this now and the only thing I found was someone found a similar issue on CS3 which required giving scrollbars instance names (which I did) and then inserting Actionscript telling them to update--and that is a bit beyond me. Is there something I have to type in when the text loads to get it to do that?The script I'm using to load the text into the fields is as basic as it gets (and obviously cut and pasted from somewhere else):

ActionScript 3.0 :: Roll Out Menu Disappears
Feb 25, 2011I'm trying to make a Roll Out Menu, using a Button with a Movie Clip in its Over state. The problem that I'm running into is that when I roll off of the button the Roll Out Menu disappears. Is there any way that I can keep it out? I know that I could probably make this work by having the button itself have an invisible shape that covers where the Roll Out will appear, but then it will overlap the other Button's Roll Out Menu. Also, if it matters, the Menu is vertical and is something like this:

Flash Window Disappears Off-screen?
May 3, 2009When I open Flash CS3 to create something,if the Flash window is not maximized, it disappears off the right side of the screen(s).If I maximize the window using the task bar, it's fine,but it covers up the other resources I need to use. I'm using Vista Business and Flash CS3 with two screens, the extended one on the right.
Right-click the Flash button on the taskbar and select Move.What happened: When I use the arrow keys, nothing appears to happen.When I move the mouse, the arrow pointer comes in from the extreme right side of the screen.When I hold the mouse button down and drag, a four-headed arrow appears at the extreme right, but the Flash window does not appear .Reboot. What happened: Flash is still off the screen unless maximized.
What happened: I found a registry hack that I tried (next item) but it didn't work.Use Regedit to modify settings (after exiting Flash): HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Adobe > Flash 9 > Settings > WindowThe current value is 12639 960 13919 1872.I assume these are X and Y for upper right position and pixel length and width, but I don't know in what order.I tried a couple of values, including 0 0 0 0 and 100 100 100 100.I tried rebooting, verifying that the Window values were the same as those I had set, and ran Flash. Oct 17, 2009I based the following on an old code I barely understood while creating it, and decided to begin messing with it again in my "learn japanese kanji" minigame. When my sprite contacts a movieclip, (like a door or sign), I want the text screen to appear, and disappear when they are no longer in contact.
The code below almost does that. When the sprite contacts the movieclip (contact code at the bottom of this post), the textbox appears, the text appears, and everything works... for about a split second, and then the text - but not the box, disappears. I think disappearing text has something to do with being loaded through an on EnterFrame, but I don't understand why the box remains.

Everything Disappears When I Work With 3d Objects Heavily?
Oct 20, 2009i use the 3d feature alot, and there is often a lot of lag.this particullar flash project im working on has lots of high detail drawings and 3d.i have this 3d car I made, but whenever i add it to the stage, If i move my mouse at all, then everything disappears.
all drawing, and symbols gone i cant do anything with the car now because every time i try to use it, this happens!
Scroll Bar Disappears In Embedded SWF File
Nov 29, 2009Basically I have an embedded SWF file inside another which has a scroll bar (AS2 component). The whole project was created using Flash CS4 in AS2. Sometimes when the page is accessed the scroll bar is gone and the content of the embedded SWF extends outside of it's fixed sized container. I have not been successful in determining the cause but it seems to happen more frequently on a client's PC which is lacking in the performance department. I am wondering if it is a loading issue, where maybe the embedded file is loading faster than it's container. [URL]
