I am trying to build a fireplace in flash where the mantles, surround type and face plates are changable when a value from a drop down menu is selected.I put each of the objects(mantles, surround types and face plates) in a seperate layer and am making them visible/invisible by controlling the alpha property of each of the objects. It worked fine till i had about 30 layers/images on the flash file, but as i try to add new layers/ images the new layer sort of covers the first layer making it invisible.
I'm using Adobe Flash CS5, ActionScript 3.0. I've created a simple file with a few animations. When I press enter, the movie animates perfectly on the stage. But when I press Ctrl+Enter to view it in test mode (and when I export to SWF), one of the five layers just doesn't appear. It's as if I never created the layer! What could be causing this issue[URL]
I am doing some research on creating clcikTags. I read a few places that the clcikTag should be on the top layer. That has been fine, but now I want to loop it and I usually put my actions in the top layer. Will this cause a problem? Am I better off just putting my loop action on the last key frame of the clcikTag layer?
Im creating a program that is designed to allow the used to select 3 pictures (movie clips) and print them off on a single peace of paper.
The program works by allowing the user to select 3 graphics (the graphics are actually instructions for various exercises) and then moving the desired movieclips onto the stage. This all happens on a layer named "Content"
So far the program will allow the user to select the movieclips and will move them into place on the Content layer as well as move smaller versions of the pictures into a preview box the only thing it does not do is print. (the most important bit)
Is it possible to create multiple layer masks over a single layer using Actionscript3?Below is the flash effect I wanted to create with masks.First it starts from A and goes to B and C simultaneously. Then from B it goes to H and D simultaneously (the same applies to C).This is how the end result will look like.ps. I need my background to be transparent. I'm embedding it into a web page later.
I can't seem to go to a master edit file that is supposed to show both the body (layer 1) and wing (layer 2) of a flying bird animation. Is there a way to merge these two since I'm planning on shrinking it down and making a lot of birds? He merged the two layers at 14:24 of the video without even explaining how he went to this so called "Edit Master Movie Clip" that seems non-existent on Adobe Flash CS4.
I want to create a simple mask. A white oval on a second layer on top of a bottom layer that just has a word of type. I want the oval to travel from the upper left down to cover up the type. When I create the second layer, create the oval, and choose a distant frame for the "end" of the oval's positioning, my type in the first layer disappears as soon as I press F6 on that second layer. Why? Why is it nuking my first layer?
I have a container MovieClip called Drags where I can drag stamps (other MovieClips)--they are added to the Drags container via addChild. I have a second container MovieClip above that one (display order-wise) call Paint that contains a bmp, and some sprites used for adding a layer of paint.
My question is this: I need to be able to click on the Paint layer when I am above a draggable MovieClip and trigger the MouseEvent for the correct object to drag it around, but the item must always remain below the Paint layer.
I'm trying to do a little comic comedy type video in Flash. I've done an outline sketch with the pen tool of my first character, now I want to color it BUT I want to keep the colors and the outline sketch separated on two different layers. Is there a way I can select the path (outline) on layer A and then colorize it with the bucket tool on layer B? The problem I'm having is that every object I select it automatically jumps to that corresponding layer.
One reason why I want to do it this way is I still want to continue working freely on the outline sketch since it's not fully finished, so that I just can blend the colors out and keep working on the outline, at the same time I want to color it while I go just to see where it's going and to make sure that I'm not wasting my time unnecessarily with trying to do a outline just to find out that it won't work out at the end.
how to do a comic type animation, how to create the characters, how to make them move and talk? It can be a free or paid resource.
Is it possible to add layers, re-order layers, move movieclips from layer to layer or specify which layer a duplicate movieclip appears on at runtime with AS3?I am aware of the depth properties and the functions associated with that but it would be easier to have a concept of a layer because I am dealing with masks.I have a nasty feeling I'm gonna be told that layers don't really exist within an swf and that depths and setmask are all there is to work with.
I am new to CS4 and I have an issue with writing text on frames. I am using the text tool to write a paragraph of text which I type in to word to do spell check etc. Then I transfer to Flash and using the text tool paste it in. Now as soon as I let go of the mouse the text disappears but when I click on the text again it reappears why?
I have a brand new Mac Pro (8-core "nehalem") and I'm having a very frustrating problem. While testing a movie within Flash, the Test Movie window will randomly go completely blank, showing the Stage color. The movie is still running, there's no error, it's just blank. When I resize the Test Movie window, everything reappears. Until a few seconds later, it snaps back to blank.I resize, it reappears, it disappears,I resize,it reappears, it disappears... over and over. Today is my first day really using this machine for Flash. The FLA worked perfectly fine on my old Quad G5 and on my Intel iMac at home, so I don't think it's an issue with my file. The graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 with 512MB VRAM. (the standard card that comes in the 8-cores.)
I have two Preloader problems for a project I'm working on right now.
1. The Main Site preloader disappears when 60% is loaded...with a blank screen lag until moving to the main screen
2. My external .swf Preloader is still on screen after an external .swf has loaded. I can hear the external .swf playing while watching my loader bar at about 20-40%.
Main Site Preloader: var yChange = 109.2;var yStart = 330.2; myInterval = setInterval(preload,100);[code].......
Everytime I publish a swf from CS4 on my machine the swf appears briefly in the file system then is removed immediately after completion. I'm running CS4, Win 7, publishing to FP10. The fla was originally CS5 but saved down to CS4. I've tried restarting flash, Windows etc., saving to different hard drives under different names but the same thing occurs creating a text file and renaming to assets.swf (the name of saif swf) is fine but if I publish to overwrite it it then disappears. The fla for this is stored within dropbox (could that be an issue?)
I am loading levels into a main swf, these levels load via a Menu bar built into my main movie... how do I keep the menu bar from disappearing as the other layers load into the main? I know it's underneath my other levels cuz I get a mouseover on the buttons, I just can't see the menu bar..
I have an swf that loads several other swf's externally. They all have a white background. But the background disappears after a while. Example is here
I am a new-comer to these forums, as I am still trying to get used to Flash CS4.
This seems like a very simple problem (might not even be a problem at all), but I can't figure out for the life of me.
Everytime I open up a new window, and as I randomly begin to draw in pencil or make rectangles, when the focus on the window is changed to somewhere else my drawings just disappear.
When you click on "works" on my site it reveals a menu with 2 other buttons, but when you try to mouse over the 2 buttons the whole thing dissapears. What I've done is set the "works" button to jump ahead in the animation to reveal the menu which is actually one large button with the 2 other buttons on top. The large button is set to - on rollout goto and play frame 1.
I'm using Flash MX to create a website. The user navigates between different scenes/frames using buttons, just like moving to different pages in html (except the "pages" are different parts of the main movie's timeline). The problem I'm having is that on two embedded movie clips there are text boxes which dynamically load html-formatted text files (news updates for different topics). When I run the movie, both of these "pages"/"frames" work beautifully, but after the first time, when I come back to either of them, the dynamic text boxes' scrollbars have disappeared and the up/down scroll buttons don't work. By clicking on the loaded text and dragging I can force it to scroll, so all the content is there, but the controls are gone.
I've been searching forums for a couple of hours on this now and the only thing I found was someone found a similar issue on CS3 which required giving scrollbars instance names (which I did) and then inserting Actionscript telling them to update--and that is a bit beyond me. Is there something I have to type in when the text loads to get it to do that? The script I'm using to load the text into the fields is as basic as it gets (and obviously cut and pasted from somewhere else):
loadText = new loadVars(); loadText.load("history.txt"); //creating the loadVarsText function
I'm trying to make a Roll Out Menu, using a Button with a Movie Clip in its Over state. The problem that I'm running into is that when I roll off of the button the Roll Out Menu disappears. Is there any way that I can keep it out? I know that I could probably make this work by having the button itself have an invisible shape that covers where the Roll Out will appear, but then it will overlap the other Button's Roll Out Menu. Also, if it matters, the Menu is vertical and is something like this:
When I open Flash CS3 to create something,if the Flash window is not maximized, it disappears off the right side of the screen(s).If I maximize the window using the task bar, it's fine, but it covers up the other resources I need to use. I'm using Vista Business and Flash CS3 with two screens, the extended one on the right.
Right-click the Flash button on the taskbar and select Move. What happened: When I use the arrow keys, nothing appears to happen. When I move the mouse, the arrow pointer comes in from the extreme right side of the screen. When I hold the mouse button down and drag, a four-headed arrow appears at the extreme right, but the Flash window does not appear .Reboot. What happened: Flash is still off the screen unless maximized.
What happened: I found a registry hack that I tried (next item) but it didn't work.Use Regedit to modify settings (after exiting Flash): HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Adobe > Flash 9 > Settings > WindowThe current value is 12639 960 13919 1872.I assume these are X and Y for upper right position and pixel length and width, but I don't know in what order.I tried a couple of values, including 0 0 0 0 and 100 100 100 100.I tried rebooting, verifying that the Window values were the same as those I had set, and ran Flash. What happened: Flash is still off the screen unless maximized. Registry values return to being huge numbers.Repair or uninstall+reinstall Flash Using Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program. What happened:Although several Adobe products are listed, Flash CS3 is not listed, nor are any of the other CS3 suite.Using Start > All Programs > Adobe > Uninstall. The Adobe group doesn't have an Unistall or Install program, not can I find one in C:Program FilesAdobe*What I'm using:
Dell Precision M90 with 4 Gb RAMNvidia Quadro FX 1500M, ForceWare version 156.69 with 256 Mb VRAM + 1406 Mb shared RAM available at the momentVista Business with auto-updatesAt home I use an auxiliary 1280x1024 monitor; at work I use an auximiary 1680x1050 monitor; the problem occurred when I moved from home to work.
I know that this has to be something simple, but it's still kicking my butt.I put an input textbox on a layer and everything looks fine.I play the movie and no textbox? If I put a filter on it, it will show up but otherwise it looks like there is nothing there. Not even the border is visible. All of the static text is good, just no input box.
I based the following on an old code I barely understood while creating it, and decided to begin messing with it again in my "learn japanese kanji" minigame. When my sprite contacts a movieclip, (like a door or sign), I want the text screen to appear, and disappear when they are no longer in contact.
The code below almost does that. When the sprite contacts the movieclip (contact code at the bottom of this post), the textbox appears, the text appears, and everything works... for about a split second, and then the text - but not the box, disappears. I think disappearing text has something to do with being loaded through an on EnterFrame, but I don't understand why the box remains.
