ActionScript 2.0 :: Build A Standard Slideshow, But It Wont Start?
Oct 16, 2004
I am trying to build a standard slideshow, but it wont start. Someone named Uli mentioned something about using movieclips but he/she didnt elaborate any further.This is what my code is like:
I just got Flash CS4.i think it is supposed to have several categories of templates.I only have the advertising category. How can I get the standard Adobe CS4 sample templates, like the photo slideshow? I cannot find anyplace on the [url]... site for template downloads.
I am trying to build a slideshow with scrolling thumbnails and mouse control. I am fallowing a you tube tutorial. [URL] I have done everything that he says to do and I can not get it to scroll. He builds this in AS2 and I have changed my publish settings to AS2. The thing that confuses me is that he is able to get it to scroll before he puts the code in. Having an online swf doing some slideshow with loaded pictures from an xml filme, how can I, after building the slideshow with some transitions, export the result movie into a flv/mov/* file?know how you can get pictures from a xml file into flash and then proceed to build the slideshow (showing, of course, the swf in the page).What I need is a somewhat hidden swf that would process this pictures and then export the movie into a folder.Example:
-> user uploads pictures
-> user click preview movie
-> pictures are loaded into the flash file
-> movie is built
-> final file is saved into some folder
-> user is warned about the movie being done and read to download
I am creating a flv player and sofar so good. But now I want to build in a start time for a part that isn't loaded yet.Currently you can click a spot in the progress bar, however if that part is not loaded yet it will simply jump to the end of the loaded bar instead of starting to load at the clicked point.i.e. I have a video of 1:45, it's loaded for 0:30, however I want to start playing at 1:00. Howe can I create this? I cannot get it to work with seek(70) as it still jumps to seek(30) (as this is loaded);
I am trying to build a flash slideshow that uses XML to call up images and text captions. I 've found a good example of what I am looking for on macromedia's website.found here: http:[url]...
I would like to add the ability to fade between images and have a button that creates a larger jpg version in a popup window for whatever image is being displayed as current in the slideshow.Would I need 2 XML files for this or can I just use one? I prefer one. Sorry I am quite new to XML, this is my first foray into it.I can build this thing w/o XML, but it seems to be so much easier if I did it with XML.
Currently I am building an application that launches crtmpd (a rtmp server written in C++).
Whenever I launch the application from within Flash Builder it works great, if I install a release build from an air file the process.start() returns a generic "could not start process" error.
The crtmpserver.exe is stored in applicationDirectory and the config file is kept in applicationStorageDirectoy.
So I've moved it to the native storage directory. But the problem persists. I've found the following though:
startupInfo = new NativeProcessStartupInfo(); startupInfo.executable = binFile; processArgs = new Vector.<String>(); processArgs.push(luaFile.nativePath); startupInfo.arguments = processArgs;
In the IDE after this startupInfo is setup correctly. On client machines all properties of startupInfo are still null.
i need is a simple slideshow. already have images ready but when it start it only shows images for one second and goes to the next.i want it to stay on screen for ten seconds (i am new) (cs4) and needs to work when uploaded to website not just on my computer
Ok, So I've decided to show some information on my site, but instead of using a static table, I've decided i wanted to use flash.Basically, want I want to do is have 3 bits of information to be displayed in the flash and a start screen.When the flash loads, it will show the starter Screen. From there the user will select either one of the three buttons,which will direct them to one of the 3 bits of information. I was thinking each bit of information on a different frame.How would I link the Buttons to the information?
In TFS 2010 build, I have a new build and I want to call an ant script that builds Flash. How do I call the ant script? Also How can I compile the Flash directly? I've seen the Power Tools and this question but it doesn't help me as we don't have TFS 2008. I can't find any documentation on how to use the power tools except the 1 sentence on the bottom of download page saying to create your build the old way and import it (which isn't very helpful). I've installed the power tools on the agent computer but I don't see any new options in the Toolbox when I'm designing the build flow.
I just started working with ant a few days ago. Right now I have a general buildall.xml which should call each project's build.xml. Because some projects depend on each other, I need to rebuild some other projects which depend on it. This isn't a problem--I'm just setting the depends property of the target. However, ant is always building the dependencies, even when the files haven't changed.Let's say project1 has no dependencies; project2 depends on project1; project3 depends on project1, 2; project4 depends on project1, 2, and 3; and so on.I could hack a solution which looks at project K, and checks if project 1 .. project K have updated files using uptodate. If so, then run the target. This is messy and appears unnecessary.
What is the cleanest way to implement this?EDIT: So I decided to just hack in a bunch of targets, "check_projectK" where it does the uptodate checks on all of its source files, its build file, and the build files of the 1 .. K-1 projects. Due to dependencies, this is always handled correctly. However, this is still a large amount of copy and paste for a large workspace.
Using FDT, when I have a debug configuration with several operations in the launcher chain and the final launcher opens in Flash Player, how can I retrieve the build output from the console once the build is complete and Flash player is running?
It seems that once Flash Player has started the console clears to make way for the application's trace output, but I need to be able to look back over the events and build times for each item in my launch chain while Flash Player is running. Is there a setting I can enable to either log my build output to a file or to preserve it in the console?
Edit: I know I can still read the info when building normally, this question is specifically for building with the debugger.
I have created a pie preloader(preloader.zip) which is working fine. Same preloader I am trying to incorporate in a xml based slideshow(slideshow.zip) to show image loading process but some how I got stuck. I am new to flash. Suggestions are welcome.
1. How to solve the problem of preloader2. Is it possible to integrate everything in a movie clip (including AS). I mean no AS on main time line but inside the movie clip. It would be much easier then to to create multiple slideshows by duplicating mc and changing the xml file.
i have a question about text in a slideshow. i know how to make a basic photo slideshow with external images. but now what i want to do is add 4-5 paragraphs of text next to each photo (with possible scrolling). the text will be different on each photo.
i am making a quiz. My problem is that once the user completes the quiz and wants to start again the quiz is already on the last question. How do i make it so that once the user clicks start again the questions and answers arrays start from the beginning, sort of reset themselves.
I'm trying to broaden my horizons with it and so I'm trying to do an update of a quiz program my employer has. Everything has worked well, except for the timer. The button that starts the game has two options, "study" or "exam"; if the study is selected, there is no countdown, just the score keeper. If the exam option is selected, the timer is show (counting up). But, press "Start" and while the quiz begins, the timer, in either case, does not.
I'm going to post the actionscript for the timer that was already there, as well as the start button. I'm hoping someone can explain how this timer is supposed to work and why it's not; and where the disconnect lies in pressing the start button and making it run.The timer is embedded in a movie clip, with two dynamic text boxes, that are for some have no instance name; and actionscript spread out over several frames.Frame 1:
Simple question: I have numerous transitional xhtml pages marked up and ready to go. The code is basic but uses a few tags that are not recognized in Flash via HTML import- <h1>,<div> etc. Is there a best practice method for using this code without having to "dummy" down the code for use in Flash? Is there any advantage to importing the xhtml pages as XML and going that route or will I have the same problem?
i have rectangle movie and i want to make it triangle or round so it show round in the page. can i do so with i embed it or it must be done in flash before i export swf?Also i forgot how you make transparent area in flash?
I'm sure this question is too complicated for an immediate answer so I'm looking for suggestions on where to find reference material or general guidance.I'm trying to combine the setInterval function and Math.Random within a specified range (say 1 - 5 seconds) so I can time the length of movie clips in a binomial distribution (68% of the occurrences fall within one standard deviation).
I bought this flash player [URL] here are the files: [URL] Now I want to replace the standard play-icon with one of my own would this be possible, and if yes
I am using flashcs5 to make a standard component, the component is a rectangle box, i have set three public properties by inspectable tag.but when export to the swc file and using to a new flashcs project that only one property is valid. [URL]
I was thinking of developing a free online calculator in flash. It would be a standard calculator with basic functions like "+", "-", "*" etc. and an advanced calculator with more functions which would be similar to the scientific pocket calculator.
And I have a dilemma regarding the standard calculator. It's about the way it does the calculations. How would you expect a basic calculator (not an advanced one) to calculate this expression: 1+2*3 equals 7 or 9? On paper the result is clearly 7 but basic pocket calculator calculates the expression in line, unaware of the higher priority operators and give you 9 as a result to the expression above.
In the advanced version of the online flash calculator this expression would equal 7 but I have doubts about what people expect from a basic calculator.

We've got an issue (minor, but annoying) that I've got no clue where to begin to tackle.Our video player is run off a backend database, and 2 characters in particular are giving us problems:which are saved into the database with their ISO Latin-1 codes to avoid compatibility issues (ha, imagine that!).Now, all is fine and dandy except that our player uses this particular piece of data as a header in the template, styled to all caps using toUpperCase, which breaks the whole thing because it seems toUpperCase cannot properly map these letters to a corresponding uppercase value. To get around this we've tried using the HTML code for the uppercase equivalent of the same letter but the problem with this is that this same exact piece of data is also used on our website, but in it's raw camel-case format. We can't force it one way or the other, because then it breaks the other.
Is there a way we can use these sort of characters in both instances (in Flash with toUpperCase, and in the HTML page as camel-case)? Is this a Flash issue? A character code issue? A database issue? Where do I begin to address this?
Can someone tell me the simplest way to add a rollover sound to a standard button in flash ? I was trying to get a small chirp sound to play on rollover of a button. Im using the standard flash button creation hierarchy. Once the fourstages of the button are set. I created a layer above it called sounds then added a blankkeyframe to the over position and dragged the chirp mp3 file onto the stage over the button. Then when i run the webpage the sound effect doesnt play a expected. I tried playing with the dropdownlist of property settings too such as Sound : and theres a dropdown list. I chose chirp.mp3 there but still no luck. Tried some other sync settings too but not able to make this work.
