There has been many threads on horizontal parallax effect but I'm trying to build a vertical one with minimal success. I need the effect at a very subtle scale and with easing if possible.

The horizontal slider is quite smart and there is additonal functionality attached to it to affect it's movement which I'm not too worried about although it would be nice)

I'm publishing a swf using ActionScript 3.0 on the web. Therefore, only Flash player 9 or above can run my swf. How can I set the minimal version requirement so that if the use can be notified if his player doesn't meet my requirement?
View 2 RepliesI'm getting into selling Flex webcam recorder applications. Such applications send streams to either wowza or Red5 servers for saving and playing back the streams.
I'm running into an issue regarding setting up a server to demonstrate the functionality of the applications to the users online. Two things to consider :
I don't have much money to spend on expensive media hosting services The streaming-server usage will be minimal as it will only accept small non-frequent streams from users trying the application on my website.
Any media hosting services I can use? will [URL]..work in my case ? Will it be a better(cheaper) solution if I can setup my own streaming server ?
Everything works perfect but i need to change the way the MP3 file is called on. I'm brand new with AS3 and XML but have a PHP background so I attempted to understand the script and have not had any luck. The index.htm file displays a very simple music player which calls on the button_mp3_player SWF. The FLA has a portion of code that calls on an XML file to load a particular song. What I need to do is remove the XML file completely and define the MP3 file name in the index.htm. I assume some AS3 code needs to be altered so that it does not call on the XML and also that the index.htm code needs to be altered to define the MP3.

In TFS 2010 build, I have a new build and I want to call an ant script that builds Flash. How do I call the ant script? Also How can I compile the Flash directly? I've seen the Power Tools and this question but it doesn't help me as we don't have TFS 2008. I can't find any documentation on how to use the power tools except the 1 sentence on the bottom of download page saying to create your build the old way and import it (which isn't very helpful). I've installed the power tools on the agent computer but I don't see any new options in the Toolbox when I'm designing the build flow.
View 2 RepliesI just started working with ant a few days ago. Right now I have a general buildall.xml which should call each project's build.xml. Because some projects depend on each other, I need to rebuild some other projects which depend on it. This isn't a problem--I'm just setting the depends property of the target. However, ant is always building the dependencies, even when the files haven't changed.Let's say project1 has no dependencies; project2 depends on project1; project3 depends on project1, 2; project4 depends on project1, 2, and 3; and so on.I could hack a solution which looks at project K, and checks if project 1 .. project K have updated files using uptodate. If so, then run the target. This is messy and appears unnecessary.
What is the cleanest way to implement this?EDIT: So I decided to just hack in a bunch of targets, "check_projectK" where it does the uptodate checks on all of its source files, its build file, and the build files of the 1 .. K-1 projects. Due to dependencies, this is always handled correctly. However, this is still a large amount of copy and paste for a large workspace.
Using FDT, when I have a debug configuration with several operations in the launcher chain and the final launcher opens in Flash Player, how can I retrieve the build output from the console once the build is complete and Flash player is running?
It seems that once Flash Player has started the console clears to make way for the application's trace output, but I need to be able to look back over the events and build times for each item in my launch chain while Flash Player is running. Is there a setting I can enable to either log my build output to a file or to preserve it in the console?
Edit: I know I can still read the info when building normally, this question is specifically for building with the debugger.
I'm writing an audio recorder in AS3.In AS2, when I loaded up the swf object, the "Camera and Microphone Access" window would pop up immediately. ("Requesting access to your camera and microphone .. allow").However, in AS3, it still works, but there is a noticeable 2-3 second delay before that window pops up.

I've had great success with loadMovie and loadMovieNum, but occasionally I see something in the posts about attachMovie. Is there a difference between attach and load, or is one left over from a previous verion of Flash?

- I'm in localhost on Windows with Xampp.
- If I open in the browser the url of nc.connect() it returns "Zend Amf Endpoint".
- If I print the return of the Tutorials.getTutorials() from another script the returned array contains the correct data.

just wondering if there is a way to reset the LoadVars() success variable to false or undefined. i need to do this b/c i'm repeatedly fetching data from a asp file using the same LoadVars() Obj to store the data sent from the asp page.

i found i can get vertical dynamic text block by setting to vertical and then to dynamic. But, then it ends up being horizontal, and if inside a clip, only the letters over another item in clip show. Like veritcal text on a vertical bar gives only the 1 or 2 letters that fit across bar, rest truncated. i've tried embedding text to get this far, but still doesn't work 'all the way' i see online they talk about all scripting for dynamic, vertical text; is that necessary, or am i missing something??

View 6 RepliesI found similar issues in previous posts, but not this one. I publish a Flash CS3 .swf file,creating the html page and the javascript file too. If I click the html page locally, the sendAndLoad POST will succeed. If I upload the 3 files to the server, the sendAndLoad will fail. If I delete "AndLoad," the Send function will succeed. Url is fully qualified. I think I made a change in a configuration in Flash, because previous packages of this same file worked.
