Feb 3, 2011I have an issue with font scaling of a dynamic text box.
Currently i have one input box named input_1 with a variable attached to it named "choc_1".
Also, i have a dynamic text box named dynamic_1 with variable "choc_1".
When the user types something on the input box then the dynamic box changes instantly and displays what the user has written.
auto scale-size the fonts to a smaller size if the user types many letters.
The input_1 box has a 13 character limit. My initial font size is 200, i want to scale down so when the user types 10 letters they fit the box and they don't go out of screen. I want to use one line, so wrap or multiline is not possible.

May 19, 2010have created a scrolling text area in flash CS3 using a dynamic text box with text inside controlled by a couple of buttons using the .scroll property to add to the scroll value on each click of a button.i am wanting to add two new buttons to decrease and increase the font size of the text within the dynamic text area, which i thought should be fairly easy. i found a .size property which could be applied to text, but i do not think i am using it in the right way. here's what i have tried to do (where 'myText' is the instance name of my dynamic text area):

The font I want to use (let's call it FancyFont) is in the library and does have actionscript linkage. It is exported in Frame 1.
Approach 1: Using CSS:
Since I would like to ultimately be able to change the string dynamically, I'm not loading from an external file.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Changing Font Of Text In Dynamic Fields Using Buttons?
Dec 10, 2010I have a user text input field and a preview button, when they press preview the inputed text appears in a dynamic text field in another part of the window. I need to be able to change the font of the text in the dynamic field using buttons (so the user can see their text displayed in various different fonts which will be embedded into the swf). After watching various different tutorials I hashed together this code for my first button to change the font to Times New Roman which I embedded with the class name timesNew.

When I run the movie everything works fine and the console shows no errors but when I press the button to change the font the text in the dynamic field simply disappears.

May 2, 2010When I set up 3 input text fields, I allow the user to change the font and size of those fields. If the user selects each one with the mouse and modifys them then no problems are seen. But if the user first changes the size and font of text field 2, then tabs to that text field and starts to change the text. The font and size properties revert back to the default.

I could re-apply the formating everytime the text field changes, but that seems like a bandaid to the problem.

Nov 19, 2010I have an input text field in which the user enters text. This text is displayed in an output textfield. The user should have the option to change the color of a selection, This color should be applied to the selection in both the input and output textfield. After that the user should be able to further edit the text without loosing the fomatting.
But pictures say more than words so...
1. The user selects text and sets the color to yellow
2. The text color is set to yellow just like I want
3. This is the actual issue. When the text (in the input field) is edited all text in the ouput field goes black again That's not what I want, I want the colored text to stay colored when the input is edited.

Sep 2, 2011I have an input text field that is named in the properties box as 'numberOfKids'. When the program is executed, and a delete or backspace is pressed the input textfield goes blank and any calculations that use 'numberOfKids' shows NaN.I have trapped the NaN and undefined so that a numeric 0 shows up instead of a blank.
First problem: The cursor is to the left of the zero, so the first number inputted by the user is 10x larger than what they want. 0 becomes 10. How do I get the cursor to move to the right of the 0?
Second Problem: When I manually move the cursor to the right of the 0 and input a number, say 4, it shows up as 04. How do I delete the leading numeric zero in the input textfield?

AS2 :: Text Scroll Box Cannot Embed Font / Need To Link Font From Server?
Nov 4, 2009I bought a text scroller flash file and am now trying to tailor it to my needs.URL...It is composed of several movieclips which link to the an external text file. The external file starts off with this mytext= <font color="#000000" size="7">BACKGROUND</font> This file determines the size and color of the font but does not define the actual font itself, it also contains the content. There is a movieclip within the flash file where you can denote a device font or embed a font from the properties panel.Starting off I simply picked my font from the properties panel and used "anti-alias for animation". This seemed to work fine on the Flash preview and also once published online. However, once I used another computer to view my site the font changed and reverted to a default. This leads me to believe the font is linked to each computers font library. I am wondering if there is a way to override this and to link the font to a place on my server?I also tried to embed my font via the properties panel but it looks warped and unrecognizable, so thats out. Unless there is another way to embed fonts at stays true to the font? To add more fuel to the fire, the font I have to use is not html safe "Gotham" to be exact.URL,,,

Apr 28, 2011the last of many problems, is that at the very end of the test, you're shown your score, and you have the option to type your name in a text box and click "save". Doing so will apply you score data (time elapsed, date, correct answers and percentage) along with the name you typed in, and output in a form, that you can save or print off, or whatever. The problem is, the input text box will not let you type in it. If you mouse over it, the mouse stays a pointer, you don't get the text tool. If you click on it, the cursor appears for a split second after you release the mouse button, but you cannot type anything in it.This is the actionscript for the output form:
