Im using Oracle, BlazeDS, Java and Flex. I have a list of objects displayed in a datagrid(Lets call them Main-objects. Each of these objects have a set of UserComment-objects associated with them(One-to-Many relation in the DB). These comments may come from two different "types" of users, distuingished with either a 1 or 0 in the UserComment-object's "userType" field. Each time the user selects a Main-object in the datagrid, the UserComment's related to this object is displayed in a separate datagrid below.Based on the introduction, i want to separate the UserComment's into two separate datagrids (one for each user-type), instead of the one i have now. So my question is: What is the best approach for performing this task? What is the best way of separating the UserComment's into two separate data grids based on the value of the "userType" field?

I need to be able to compare the number of whole days between two dates in ActionScript, is this possible? I'd like to test if one date is 7 days or less after today, and if so is it one day or less (if it's before today this also counts).The workaround I have in place is using the .time part of the date field:

As I say - this is only a workaround, I'd like a permanent solution to allow me to check the number of whole days between 2 dates. Is this possible?

I'm creating this math based game for my son to learn math. Everything was going fine until the last if statement. What I need it to do is compare two values and determine if they are an identical match and if so say is correct and if not then say its incorrect. I have a random number generator and that number is being stored in a variable String and then it is being converted into a number, that part works. I then have setup like a calculator 4 different variables that act as plus, minus, multiplication and division. Since there is 4 different variables i have been thrown into a loop and can't figure this one out!This is my random number generator:

I am creating a card game application in that dynamic movieclips created on stage and inside those movieclips different cards can drop, which have some values.
If one movieclip contains one card and another movieclip contained two cards and all the other movieclips 3rd,4th,5th.. etc contains some cards then, if i want to go back and want to drop another card at the top of the old one, than how i can do this, because when i go back and drop a new card inside movieclip than it replaces the old one. i don't want to create a new array for each movieclip.
SlideTitles.text is an input field. I want the user to enter the titles in in this format

Calling the slides whatever they want, and they can have as many as they want.
I need to able to split them values up and put them into a string array. (after they submit them)
so it would end up being myStringArray = ("slide one", "slide two", "slide three")
so far i'm failing. I did do a bit of searching around but couldn't find anyone doing this same thing.
I've tried myStringArray = (textfieldsxx)
and then setting the value of textfieldsxx to equal the slideTitles.text... but then it just ends up as 1 value in the array, no matter what format i write it in... i'm still a learner with arrays

The dictionary use strict equals(===) for key comparison, how to change the comparison, so I can use my standard for comparison, for example, I have a class named Student:

What I need to do is assign 5 separate dynamic text fields to 5 seperate buttons and at the same time to those same five buttons i would like to add 5 images that i would be able to change merely by swapping out the images in the file theyre in on the server.I would also like to get a nice transition between the images...ALSO i want to dynamically load the images for the buttons that will be used for switching from picture to picture(which im thinking i will be able to do after i know the how to do point the aforementioned things.)
Through tutorials I've found around the net I've been able to get most of the parts together... but i get lost because what they show you for AS2 they don't for AS3 and vice versa, at least that ive seen.so... I guess my question is... would i need to set up 5 seperate dynamic text fields on the stage and then set each one of them to one of the corresponding button. If so what AS code would i need to use to do so. And if not what would i need to do?
The other part of the question would be I know about the UILoader... would i be able to use it as my buttons and images, if so would i need 5 seperate ui loaders for both the Thumbnail buttons and the images or is there a way that would be better to do it? and once i do that would i do the transitions using frames and tweens like with AS2?
I've got a Grid whose GridItems contain another DataGrids. (The DataGrid are nested in the Grid). Now I changed the Grid's horizontalGap-StyleProperty to zero. But because there are several DataGrids in one GridItem, there is still about 5-10px spacing in between those DataGrids. How to get rid of these spacings ?
View 5 RepliesIf I create a new flash AS3 file and create two blank keyframes in my actions layer I can add actions to each keyframe separately no problem. I can then easily switch between the actions frames from the menu bar on the left of the actions input panel. However if I try and do this on any of my projects i've been working on for a while when I create a new blank keyframe in the actions layer and try to add actions to it, I get sent straight back to my first actions keyframe and not a nice blank page. Can I even apply seperate actions to seperate keyframes?

Please note that i am happy with this movie as it is, and do not want to change anything about it except for the script itself. It refurs to three seperate clips "b.a","d.c" and "f.e". What i want is for the script to incorperate all three clips under one name of "mc" And instead of have three seperate widths, "width 1","width2" and "width3" i want the script to also incorperate all three widths and heights into just one name of "width" and one name of "height".

I have a DataGrid which contains a DataGridColumn with a textinput and DataGridColumn with a Button.The DataGrid is bound to some XML which displays values in the text box.When the button for a row is clicked I need to get the value out of the text box and save it into the relevant XML node.My solution was just to pass the id of the row to the button click event then loop over the rows until I find the id then just grab the text box value. Simple. However the only advice I can find on looping over the rows is via the underlying dataProvider, which is nonsense as the two aren't the same thing.

But each is showing different data, which is why I split into 2 grids. However, on each one you can resize the columns, what I would like is to make it so that if you resize a column on either datagrid the same column on the opposite datagrid resizes as well, so they are both always lined up.

I did not find any calls to "refresh()" in the whole debugging (and I went down the framework whole as deep as possible (btw: lots of funny comments right in the code :-) )he only thing I could find was a CollectionChangeEvent getting dispatched with a PropertyChangeEvent in its "item" property. Which was of the kind "UPDATE" (and not, as I would expect "ADD"). When trying to dispatch that event manually, it never worked (e.g. the datagrid did not update).

At the moment, I have a separate function for each sort compare I do....each does the sorting numerically. I'm guessing I could condense functions sort1, sort2, sort3, etc into 1 function but I can't figure out how:

I've got a client who has a list of items on a Datagrid. When the row is clicked, it sends the user to another page with details of that item. The client wants the rows to act like HTML links, where the color is purple when the link has been previously visited and its normal color if the row hasn't been clicked in the past. I've accomplished this with item renderers and SharedObjects. The application loads the visited ids into an array on start and the item renderer colors the individual cells if that row had been visited.
The issue here is that the client also wants the text color in the rows to turn white when the user rolls over the row. Because the item renderer sets the color, it doesn't respond to the default stylesheet for the datagrid. I can make it turn white on rollover of an individual cell, but we need the whole row to do it. Is there a way to trigger a function in all the item renderers in the row, or is there a better way to accomplish this?
I have a flex application in which I have a TabNavigator with multiple tabs and a datagrid in each of those tabs. I have bound s single array of data to each grid.
What I want to do is to bind each grid with a particular set of data in that array i.e. to distribute array contents among grids based on data type. For example items starting with letter A could be displayed in first grid, B in second, starting with C in third and so on. Hence you can say alphabetically distribute the data on different grids. The problem is that the data will be added randomly by the user.
To make one data array for each grid is not an option (due to design restrictions).
Is it just me, or do flex MX datagrids sort in a case sensitive manner be default? That is, they'll sort like this:
I know I can give a datagrid column a custom sort function, but do I really have to do that for every column in the app?
So this is a bug in a legacy app- updating every single grid to spark really isn't an option (if that's even a fix). Am I missing some obvious way to change the sorting pattern for an entire grid?
we have developed a web application by using flex-blazeDS-Java. Now we got a requirement that to print the user existed page whenever he clicks on Print button. I am able to print my flex componets and advanced datagrid but not able to print the custom item renderer images which are rendered in datagrid. And also how to print the multiple pages when I have large data in advanced datagrid.
