ActionScript 2.0 ::create A Flash Movie That Loops Through 11 Dynamic Images?
Nov 19, 2003I would like to create a flash movie that loops through 11 dynamic images continually with a fade-in, fade-out each image.

View 2 RepliesThis is my first post as i m just beginner in Flash JavaScript. I want to prepare a FLash Movie in which all the images r dynamic and the images should change after a time say every 30 secs the image changes.
View 1 RepliesSo I have a function to create images dynamically in as2, telling some parameters, the problem I am facing is that I need to add this function to a file that has as3, so is incompatible, can anyone please help me translate it to as3?
function goGetUrl(dir:String){
getURL(dir, "_blank");
}
[code]....
For example the getURL(dir, "_blank"); does not work, I think I can change it by:
navigateToURL(new URLRequest (dir));
also I know that getNextHighestDepth() is not available in as3
I am trying to create a movie clip that loops and on each loop it loads a random little .jpg banner from a directory. The banners are named 0.jpg, 1.jpg and so on, a script on the first frame of the loop saying
Code:
_root.randomnumber = random(_root.bannernumber);
_root.bannerloop.bannerholder.loadMovie("http://www.url.com/directory/"+_root.randomnumber+".jpg");
"bannernumber" is a variable from an external text file specifying how many random numbers to cycle through (how many banners), This works just fine and loads up a new banner after each loop cycle. The problem lies in trying to make each banner go to its own url, I have another external text document with variables "click0=url, click1=url etc" where I want the number in each variable to equal the randomnumber variable in flash, then use an on(release){getURL(urlvariable)} function to have it retrieve the url that is somehow in the url variable. Basically, how would I make the urlvariable be equal to the "click0" variable to get the url of the click0 variable into the getURL function? while having the number in the "click0" variable be equal to the randomnum variable?
This is my first post as i m just beginner in Flash javascript. I want to prepare a FLash Movie in which all the images r dynamic and the images shud change after a time say every 30 secs the image changes. I know i have 2 use SetInterval but where to write SetInterval i m confused.
View 1 RepliesI want to create a tab-enabled popup window in an AS3 Air project. Currently, when I press tab several times, the focus goes through all the components in my popup window and then starts focusing the buttons and TextFields from the components that are behind the popup. I have tried to solve this problem in two ways, but none of them worked. I will explain both of the methods here

I want to create a flash application where users will have access to 10, 5 seconds audio loops. They can choose any 4 tracks to make a 20 second track. I then want that mp3 to be stored somewhere or flash to create to a file which can be sent to friends in facebook where they can listen to that beat. There will be a little button at the bottom saying 'click here' to make your own beat.
View 1 RepliesHow to create a dynamic horizontal scroller for xml driven images.
View 2 RepliesI am looking to create something along the lines of www.pyott.co.uk with the animation being scrollable in all directions - left, right, up and down - I've seen some references to it called 'dynamic images slider'.
View 1 RepliesI have images I want to display on the stage one at a time, so I thought of creating some sort of object that contains an image that can change dynamically by code. How can I do this?
View 1 RepliesI can easily make a dynamic image with one or two lines of symmetry.
My normal approach is to take a square image and mirror it once too make one line of symmetry like this:
and then to make two lines of symmetry I can just mirror that image with one line of symmetry as well, making something like this:
images with 2 lines of symmetry work really well for 2D tessellations, but for 3D tessellations I need 4 lines of symmetry.
this is a problem since the way you'd normally do this is to basically fold the square in half both ways diagonally, which gives you triangles instead of rectangles.
this makes it harder to use rotation matrices to mirror the source image.
has anyone come up with a good way to give a source image that you can loop through every pixel quickly and mirror it in such a way that it has 4 lines of symmetry?
i have this completed so far, but i need the texture map to have 4 lines of symmetry, not 2 like it currently does.

I am making a flash movie, using text moving across the screen in semi transparency, sort of as a background. In the center is a white box, and content within that box. The semi transparent text scrolls back and forth throughout the movie. But when the movie loops back to the beginning , the white box and content within it vanish for a second...then reappear as the movie begins again. I don't want that microsecond vanish to happen but I don't know how to prevent it.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to create a flash program that uses it's own code to send and create images. Each square has a colour and that colour gets added into the array. A black, then grey, then white is:
filecode = ["Bl", "Gr", "Wh"];
That works fine, but when I try to paste it into an Input text box it will only fill in the first part of the array.
filecode = ["Bl,Gr,Wh"];
So the program has NO idea what I want.The only ways I can think of fixing this is by putting in 402 text boxes to suit every box...But every one of them needs a Variable Name.Or by sending the information straight into the array. But this way you are just looking at what you just drew, and that is not at ALL practical.
I'm wondering if it's possible to create variables in a for loop that uses an incrementing number in the variable name.
This is the code I've tried (as a long shot) but isn't working:
var i:Number;for(i = 1; i < 10; i++){ var ["number" + String(i)]:Number = i;}
trace(number5);
What I'm trying to create here is a series of variables called "number1", "number2", "number3", etc. Is there another way of doing it? I'd need them to be public (I think that's the term?), so they can be used elsewhere in the script.
I've been creating this banner: [url removed] which accesses an xml document, replaces some texts etc, but as soon as you open it up in a browser (like with the dropbox link I pasted) the banner only loops on the first movie clip. Put in another way: The banner you see is looping through only the first movie clip. But the swf file (and the html file) work fine from the local path of my computer.
View 1 Repliesi have a movie in which i have 50 thumbnails dynamically added to a mc and i have a scroller to scroll the mc which works fine.. on each thumb i have a rollover image (which is a bigger image of the thumb) which works fine but i want the rollover image to be shown within the area of mask area which is not happening now..
View 4 RepliesI have this array that contains the names of various images I want to load into Flash
var imageArray:Array=["image1","image2","image3","image4","image5","image 6","image7","image8","image9","image10"];
Now I want to create 10 different buttons with each button loading in an image. I know there's a way to do this with a for loop without having to make 10 different buttons and writing 10 different functions. Not sure how to correlate the members imageArray with the generated btns.
I am trying to create a slider that will move a series of images in a movie clip based on the location of the slider. The problem I have is that when you click and drag the scroller it will move the images once but after that the images will not move. I am guessing that the problem is with my code. I want to move the _x of the images movie clip based on the _x of the slider. Here is the code I am using which is placed in frame one of the "timelineSlider" MC:

If it will help I can send the the original .FLA file by email as it is too large (225kb) to post on the forum.
I've done some digging and can't find an answer to this that I understand. I'm sure it's something simple and stupid that I'm just overlooking.
for (var i:uint=1; i<=5; ++i) {
this["thumb"+i]:Loader = new Loader(); this["thumbURL"+i]:URLRequest = new URLRequest("thumbnail_"+i+".swf");

I have an onEnterFrame function controlling all the movie clips in an array. The motion of each of these movie clips is controlled by a few variables speed, acceleration, etc that are modified on each enterFrame. I can't figure out how to create unique variables for each element in the array. At the moment my variables are the same for all the elements, and so the motions for each movie clip are the same.
I have used this code to add my movie clips into the array:
for(i = 0; i < starNumber; i++){ duplicateMovieClip(star, "star" + i, i); starArray.push(this["star" + String(i)]); }
Do I need to do a similar thing to create unique variables for each? Or is there something I need to do in my for(myClip in myArray) loop that is contained in my onEnterFrame function?
Is there a way to create an if statement that executes two different loops?
For example, If I was trying to make game with a button that when clicked creates random objects falling down and when the objects are destroyed, creates random objects floating up. I haven't seen anything online, but I'm wondering if anyone know. Is it possible or should I just create two different listeners?
I'm trying to create a grid of hexagons by using nested for loops. I picked up this code trawling the forums but this creates a diamond shaped pattern of hexes rather than neat rows that interlock together. I want to create one row in the first place, increment the x and y placing coords so as the next row is offset as appropriate to lock it into place under row above. Can't get my head round it. It's been a long day-too much wine-Flash newbie.[code]...

I have an application (actionscript) that displayes a slideshow from dynamic content written in xml. The slideshow runs in flashplayer. Now i have been asked to display the content as a video file format.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to migrate as2 to as3 code.The normal solution to my problem involves using the first parameter of the createEmptyMovieClip() as the name of your movie clip. In several instances I have a dynamic value for this first parameter- so my question is How should I go about doing this?
//my code
function someFunction (){
loader_mc = this.createEmptyMovieClip("text"+value, value);[code]......
if there is a way to use movie clip instances with FOR loops (yeh I'm not skilled with OOP so I premade mc's instead using loadMovie :for example I made manual SwapDepth function between movieclips, I have hero1_mc, hero2_mc,...,hero6_mc and enemy1_mc,..., enemy12_mc. The code looks something like this:
Code:
if (_root.hero1_mc._y > _root.hero2_mc._y) {
tempDepth1 = _root.hero1_mc.getDepth();
tempDepth2 = _root.hero2_mc.getDepth();[code].....
...and so on, code works fine but if I were to write all compares manually it will be thousand lines of code to check each movie clip with each other.So I was wondering is there any way to put those movie clip instances hero1_mc, hero2_mc... into FOR loop like (code doesn't work, if there could be a way to replace numbers with variables):
Code:
for (i=1; i<18; i++) {
for (j=1; j<18; j++) {
if ("_root.hero"+i+"_mc" > "_root.hero"+j+"_mc") {
.......
so I don't have to type all combinations D: so far I haven't found any way to do so, is there any way to make something similar with FOR loop and movie clips? I'm working on my project with AS2.
I'm trying to create a loop which generates a single series of sine results ranging from 0 to 1 based on 100 loops ( ie 0 ,0.011 ,0.1111........up to 1 in a single run)The results I want start at 0 and increment in a series up to 1 and then stop. I suppose this would be one half of a sine wave I have tried the following but it goes from 0 to 1 ,1 to 0 , 0 to 1 etc whereas I want a single straight run of 100 values from 0 to 1
I tried :
for(var i:Number=0;i<=100;i++){
trace((0.5*Math.sin(i)) + 0.5);
}
This does not work.
Im using flash cs4 pro, designing a website. I put a stop action in the last frame of scene 1 (main page) in the main time line, and that works fine. We have a button in scene 1 that brings you to scene 2 (sub-page), this scene also has a stop function in the last frame because we want it to stop, until the user hits a button to bring them to the desired scene. Now, the stop action in scene 2 seems to work, for about 6 seconds, then it goes right back to scene 1, and LOOPS! through scene 1 and 2 repeatedly, as if the stop function on scene 1 was never there.The button that brings you to scene 2 has the following action
Code:
on (release) {
gotoAndPlay("2","1");
}
the last frame of scene 2 has only a stop action, as does the last frame of scene 1. Why does it loop even with a stop action there?
I'm using Flash CS3, Actionscrip 3.0. I created a movie clip which has a tween and is 10 frames long. I added an actionscript layer and added the code stop(); on the last frame. All layers are visible. I put 13 instances of this movieclip on my main timeline. They continue to loop (or possibly only play twice... hard to tell). I tried adding a mc.name.stop(); code on main timeline at the appropriate place (10 frames after the keyframe where the instances is introduced.) I also tried using the code mc.instancename.stop(); inside the movie clip.
