ActionScript 2.0 :: Create Buttons To Point To Multiple Galleries?
Aug 28, 2008
I have a Flash component that links to a gallery, and I understand that I can create buttons to point to multiple galleries. (waiting too long for support from the suppliers).The User Guide says that I can use the following to create the connection:
myThumbnailer2.loadGallery(24);
That won't work, and it says that I need to include it in an onclipevent. I have no idea what i am doing and I was hoping someone could tell me what to script to get the text button I created to run this.
I need a simple way to use xml and create a multiple gallery inside 3 main galleries so basicly like this: (Everything would be in the same page, list view, when clicking into one it would open it)
GALLERY 1 (Will include numerious galleries) -Example 1 -Example 2[code]....
Basicly when clicking the link it would hover the pics with a scrolling effect in the flash file (that all should be sorted out)
When displaying mutiple image galleries (3 galleries with 15 images each) is it advisable to load multiple xml files or is it smarter/easier to include all the info in a single xml file?
I've created a simple thumbnail gallery script that my students can use for portfolio projects. I'm also making it available for public download along with video tutorials in how to use it. I had developed a nice AS2 script, but those days are over and I've been hammering away at AS3 with pretty good success, but am still learning.I have a workable gallery, but if I add a second gallery on a different frame, all the functions and variables of the second gallery conflict with the first one. I'm missing some simple way to reinitialize the gallery. It may be that I need a Gallery Class but this is just a hair beyond me right now. Can anyone take a look and point me in the right direction? Files can be downloaded from URL...The actionscript files are external and brought in with an include action.
I already have a photo gallery running on my website, but I would like to add 4/5 more. The script I am currently using is;
Code: // USER CONFIG SETTINGS ===== var autoStart:Boolean = false; //true, false var secondsDelay:Number = 6; // 1-60
[Code]....
I've obviously changed the first and last frame part of the script to suit where I have put my images. And I have also changed the next and prev button to be next1 and prev1, however the rest wont work, i'm guessing I need to change a lot more but I don't know enough about scripting.
I was working yesterday with the galleries from Scotty - http:[url].... - trying to add a dropdown menu for the different galleries, instead of the buttons (I'm talking about the V3 with Thumbnails). My skills are not that good I realized. Do you have any idea on how to achieve this?
What I need is a combobox showing the different galleries i have on my XML file and if the user chooses another gallery, the it loads the new set of pictures and thumbnails.
I'm trying to create a gallery where each thumbnail you can click loads a different set of images (and unloads or removes the previously loaded gallery).
I'm in the midst of creating my very first portfolio site completely in Flash. I followed the tutorial [url]... to create a nice looking gallery. Now, my problem is that I need to create two other galleries for the same website. All three galleries will be on three different pages. The actionscript doesn't seem to work if I try top use different folders and file names, and I can't even make a second gallery in a separate .fla file so I can access the gallery externally via movieclip. I've gone through countless threads on different forums to try to find my answer, but nothing seems to work.
I am extremely untrained in CS4 and Actionscript. However I have managed to get along fairly well until I started to dynamically upload images as a gallery. This works great if I have one gallery, but for my site I have 9 galleries!!! I have a back and next button, but I want to be able to use those same buttons for all of the galleries so they look the same. I have split them up and renamed them, but I am clueless on how to script the buttons to work.This is what I have now because I do not know where to put the other button names without getting errors.
stop(); next_btn .addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, nextImage); var imageNumber: Number=1;
I have seen many tutorials on how to create xml-driven, thumbnail-based image galleries, but I am looking for one which can do a "Before and After" photo effect. I'm designing a realtor's website and want a "before and after" gallery to show work being done on some homes, before construction and after construction. So, basically, you have two photos, same size, overlaying each other, and use maybe an Alpha fade to "merge one photo into another"? Something which slowly fades one into another, not just something which does a complete Alpha fade out, then a complete Alpha fade in.
I am using actionscript 2.0 and I am trying to create multiple sound buttons that trigger multiple different .mp3 files via mouse click.I have gotten it to work with one sound file using this actionscript [code]but as soon as I add another button and try to link it to another file it does not work.I would like to make it so that even if I click another button to start another sound, the first sound keeps playing.
I'd like to create a Hangman game, only instead of having the player enter a letter, I'd like to have 26 clickable buttons on the screen. Now, I could make 26 symbols, but that seems ridiculous when I could create a letter_button.as class and just create 26 instances of letter_button, where I can just do something like letter_button.letter_id to get the value.[code]...
I want to dynamically create multiple buttons on the stage. The number of buttons I want to load will eventually be retrieved from an XML file.
I've made some progress but I'm a little stuck. I have no problems with the XML at all. I've created a button with rollovers and given it a linkage class name and it can be added as a child to the stage.
The problem lies with creating multiple different buttons, each with unique button listeners.
Hi I am trying to create an image scroller that just scrolls images from point a to point b on load horizontally in an infinite loop. I just used a code snippet to move it horizontally but don't how to get it to stop and at point b and loop again from a.
I have created an organizational chart for the company I work for displaying all current employees. Each contact is shown as a button that displays a 'popup' window on rollover. All of this works perfectly. What I want is to create an option to click on each button and the individuals email address be added to a dynamic text field at the bottom of the page.
Just to clarify, I am able to have text entered into the text field on each click, however, clicking on the next button removes the previous text. I want each click to create a new entry in a list. For example: "contact1; contact2; contact3;" etc etc. The end result would be for the user to copy all text (email addresses) from the dynamic text box and paste it into their Outlook "To" section.
I have a problem when making flash applications with more than one frame that has symbols placed on it in that I can't declare all of the event listeners for the objects at the same time and I have found that even if I put them all on the first frame, add the event listeners, then click through to the next frame then the buttons won't work on that frame.
Does anyone have any idea how I could solve this? I did consider myself a fairly competent AS3 programmer until I realised I had no idea how to handle this sort of thing. Solved: I initialised the clips from my external class and then addChild'd and removeChild'd them as I needed to and placed their x and y on addChilding.
i have an if statement, an object will go to a new frame if multiple buttons are pressed
PHP Code:[code].....
now i want it so that if one condition is met the mc will goto frame 2, if 2 conditions are met, frame 3 and if 3 conditions are met, frame 4.i know i could do this with a lot of if statements but i have a lot of movie clips to use this code on, so is there any way to write an if statement that will trigger different options if multiple conditions are met?
I have a flash movie with 3 buttons I am trying to link relativley to pages within my site, I have one working fine but can't get the others to link and when I try it makes the one that is working, work no more..
Below's the code I am using for the one that is working;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;var getIndex:URLRequest = new URLRequest("../index.html"); //---Enter Button---\
I am creating my first flash website and have hit a wall, i have four buttons"HOME, ABOUT, PORTFOLIO, CONTACT" and each button plays through the same movie clip from different points. ie the labels.
"HOME" being the first part of the movie and "CONTACT" being the last section with "ABOUT & PORTFOLIO" playing the sections inbetween.
but what i am trying to do is make it so that when i am at the home section and click "CONTACT..etc." i want the movie clip to play all the way through the about & portfolio sections to get there, and back again if i click one of the others*(from contact to the about, home or portfolio section)
I just imported a video file with 2 sections titled:
music light
This should help:
So this code works perfect with a componant button but I can't make it work with a normal one. Why? What is so different about them. Why can't I make a normal button and give it the same name "my_button"
For some reason even if I name the button the same thing as the component button it no longer works
I have a map with a list of items to the side. I want the list to work as buttons and highlight both the button and the particular image on the map... and when you click you link to a certain location.I also want to be able to MouseOver the map, have both the image on the map and the corresponding 'button' from the list highlight - but when you click, you go to a different location than if you would have clicked from the list.I have it set up - but something is conflicting. Here is how I have my code set:
Code: BUTTON_ONE.onEnterFrame = function(){ if (this.hitTest(_root._xmouse, _root._ymouse, true)) { this.nextFrame();[code].......
I am creating a stand alone DVD to be used with Flash player. I am wanting to add different videos that play with different buttons. The following is the code I have for the video to play when the corresponding button is clicked..... My problem is how do I get that video to "leave" and stop playing when another button is pushed to play a different video.
Educators_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,clickEducators); function clickEducators(evtObj:MouseEvent) { gotoAndStop("OE")
here's what I have - a custom video player that pulls everything from an XML doc. In that XML doc, I have three sections that contain start, middle, and end times (in seconds) for the video. The goal is to track how many times the start, mid point, and end of the video are reached.
This all works, however I'm encountering a strange action. When I play the movie, I get output that the start point has been hit, then I get three (3) duplicate outputs of the mid point getting triggered, and finally six (6) reports of the end point hit.Strange. The numbers change slightly, (1,3,6 and 2,4,10, and 1,4,8) times for each of the start/mid/end triggers.
Here's the code that I'm using:
("prefs.prefOmnitureStart", "prefs.prefOmnitureMiddle", and "prefs.prefOmnitureEnd" are the numbers in seconds that are pulled from the xml. In my example, they're 2.0, 6.0, and 10.0)
Code:
myVideo.addEventListener(MetadataEvent.CUE_POINT, cp_listener); function cp_listener(eventObject:MetadataEvent):void { myVideo.addASCuePoint(prefs.prefOmnitureStart, "sendOmnitureStart");
I am working on creating a photo gallery and I am having an issue trying to figure out how to add AS3 code to link buttons to a point in a timeline. I have 5 buttons each with an alpha transparency change that works fine and now I want to establish an action on each button that on CLICK will bring up a particular photo in my timeline.
The problem is my buttons stop working after a certain point. Now I think it's because I need some kind of loop somewhere, but I'm not too sure. I've included a trace in the code so I know the button is not working anymore. (At least the function of what I want it to do).
