ActionScript 2.0 :: Display A Message With Some Design?
Jul 29, 2010
i need to display a message with some design(i.e) a movieclip on press of the fullscreen mode btn.I have created a full scren mode for a button event.. now i need to attach a movieclip with some message on press of the btn fullscreen mode event..is it possible to do? or is there any other way for my problem
I am wondering how I would go about to create an application where a user makes a design, say designs a shoe by choosing different colors. Then when the user saves the design, a swf is created and later displayed. I have researched about the bitmapExporter, but in this case I need to save as vector data in a new swf. Is it possible?
I am fairly new to FMS and really am trying to learn about it. My question is simple I hope;
I would like a message to pop up to a client when they connect that the max users has been reached. I have it set for 5 users and so I would like when the 6th user tries to connect to watch the video, a little box will pop up and say "Sorry, Max users has been reached. Please try again in a few minutes."
I was able to develop something and get it output through trace commands by following a tutorial I saw online, but I could never get any sort of message box I built to pop up.
Having a problem with SWFObject reporting the correct error message for users running OSX 10.5 and below. (Currently getting the "Unsupported Operating System" swf loaded with links for the user to update there flash player) The problem with this is proceeding to the default links provided causes conflict with OSX 10.5 and below since Adobe directs them to update to Flash 11. Which will not work on that os! So what I'm trying to figure out is, IF I can detect OSX 10.5 and below with SWFobject and direct them to a 'noflash' method (ie: if you would have no flash installed to begin with).
how to display the message properly, and I am not sure if it is my for loop that is running into problems or the way I set up my message. Here is the code:
What I try to accomplish here is to have it display the "combination of the options correctly." For example, if I select 1,2 and red, I would like the output to give me
I'm trying to display a message on my web pages home page to notify all viewers on some info, I need it to open automatically when the page is accessed then disapper or fade automatically.I'm trying to avoid making this a pop up because most people deativate thier pop ups.
Apple is obviously rejecting Flash to protect it's 'App' revenue. I've been on Android phones that run Flash and display all my content perfectly smooth. It can be quite frustrating how they are trying to bury it when I still have yet to see HTML5 replicate the type of interactive content Flash is capable of producing. Is there any way to display a message on the iPad when the Flash player is not found? I'd like it to says something along the lines of: "Unfortunately the Apple iPad does not support the Flash player because their business interests do not want it taking away from their App revenue. Did you know that the Dell Streak, HTC Flyer, Blackberry Playbook, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Toshiba Thrive, and HP Touchpad all support the Flash player?"
so apparently with the new update in IE8, it starts up with NO add-ons. Since I cannot program a code to turn on add-ons in a browser, I need to show a message when this occurs. Much like an image has alternative text in the event the image doesn't load...how can I add a message that states:
You are using Internet Explorer 8+ and need to turn on your add-ins like FLASH Player. This site is optimized for Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
I am developing a static flex application which does not have a database connection, all the values are hardcoded(its just a prototype for the original app). Now when I click the save button, i need to get a message like saving in progress... please wait, I need to display this message for 3 seconds.
how in Flex can I display a message within a Spark List component that states that the List is empty. For example if I have a List showing number of jobs outstanding, if my List is empty then I want a message displayed across the List stating "there are no jobs to perform".
I'd rather not use an Item Renderer because then it's an Item (the list is not empty) and the item can be selected.
I have a message and its visible property is false how can i make it so it becomes true when the user types anything but a number. So there input textfield and a send button if the user types hello when they click send i want the message to become true. How would you do it? restrict?
I'm creating an exercise where I have five movieclips that at first their alpha are at 0% and then they are shown randomly and I want to verify if they are all visible (100%) a text message (a dynamic text field) will be displayed. What I want you to explain me is how do I do this verification. Do I need to do this with an IF condition?
I have 12 display monitors installed in different floors in a building. These monitors display announcements that will be update once in a day. I'm retrieving these announcements from db and storing in an array and displaying it all day long. In addition to this, I have a requirement to display emergency alert messages on the monitors. My Server is a windows 2000 server. I'm using asp for creating the JSON object.
For the emergency alert I am thinking of doing this: Create a page in asp that lets user to enter emergency msg and save to db. Create a page in asp that will check if there an emergency msg in db and show it in a asp page in json. Create a timer that pings this json page every 1 second. If it's available then show it. Is there any other sophisticated method available to poll the server or to send messages from server to client?
I would like to display a message in flash "we are open" or "we are closed" based upon time. Naturally I can do this for the users local time on their system, but is it possible to work out if their time is different to UK time (GMT) and display those messages accordingly. Afterall I don't want a user to see a message "we are open" at 1pm their time - they could be in Japan and it'd be about 4am UK time.Is this possible to work out the time difference on any system?
Why doesnt my Array work? I get this message: "Scene 1, Layer 'Actions', Frame 1, Line 83 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type Array to an unrelated type flash.display:MovieClip."
PHP Code:
var boxArray:Array= new Array();boxArray.push(WallLeft);boxArray.push(WallLeft2);
i am new to flash (yet i have been using it for years) by that i mean, i struggle with it a lot. i was hoping someone could help me with the "incompatible override" error message and the "duplicate function definition" message.
I've been trying to teach myself flash for a couple of weeks and am totally lost. I have had experience with programming in the past, so I understand logic, etc, but I really am not grasping this forced time based system.What I need to do seems pretty simple. I have a jpg of a washing machine front panel. I need to be able to put some transparent "buttons" over it, and have some areas "light up" when the buttons are pressed. So far I understand that I have to work in a chronological setup, with key frames for each state of interaction, and use buttons with some kind of gotoframe action script. what I can't do:
1. get the background jpg to stick to the stage. it apparently has to be either a symbol or a layer?
2. make transparent buttons. in flash catalyst I can just set the opacity to 0, but I'm not sure how to do this in flash pro.
I guess those are the pressing issues. I had tried to import the jpg as a psd background, but then I had to put the button on a separate layer, and it was always either behind the background, or I had to have it's action refer only to the timeline of it's own layer and not the background.
Background: I've been coding in VIM/C++/OpenGL for a long time.I've come to realize that this (VIM/C++/OpenGL) isn't the way to learn about programming fancy/cool-looking/futuristic UIs; and that the design of such UIs belongs more so in the artistic/designer world of Flash.
Anyway, I currently have a machine with MacOSX. What software should I install? What book should I read to learn about the artistic/design side of these futuristic UIs? [It's okay if the tools to design them are mouse clicking + graphical rather than coding based].
Question: what software packages + books to read to learn about creating fancy-looking / futuristic UIs in flash?
I'm currently enrolled in liberal arts college, but I'm quite sure that game design is what I want to do with my life. I want to someday manage production and hopefully design my own engine. What summer programs should I be looking into? What books should I read? What particular skills should I be learning?
Does anyone know which programs work best together with flash for importing graphics that are vector based. I need to know what program a graphic designer should use, so the programmer (me) can easily import the design into flash without much fuss. I know that illustrator is kind of good, but i heard that you could also use indesign.If you know of any limitations or little quirks one has to watch while exporting importing to / from flash or illustrator, had a problem with an illustrator file once that used many effects, it crashed my flash ide durring import.
s there a possible issue in the way the button is made not coded?I am using Flash CS4. My buttons seem not to work. I do not think issue is in the action script (I am scripting in 3.0).Here is the way I make the button. I add a movie clip on the stage on the over state ( so if you were to double click on that movie clip a new time line would open), at the end of that movie clip there is a simple stop(); code on its own line. I do not add extra frame on the over state.Then I assign the code to the button and of course cross reference its name in the properties and everything is matching up. Just in case here is my code:
floralyte_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClickFloraLytePopUp); function onClickFloraLytePopUp(event:MouseEvent) :void { gotoAndStop("61"); }
All of my buttons work fine through the Up, Over, Down, HIt stages without the problem. The functionality works fussy, some of them I have to click twice to go to the specified frame with the UILoader, some do not work at all and some work.I double checked and all of them seem to be done identical.
I am looking to learn Actionscript 3 but have not been able to find the best way to do this. I have knowledge with HTML and CSS and have used Flash to create simple web banners, etc., but I want to get into more advanced Flash design and use Actionscript. I have looked through books but they all seem to require some knowledge of programming already. What is the best way for someone who has no programming experience to begin to learn Actionscript? Is there a specific book someone can recommend, or training course or a person who does 1-on-1 training?
I am doing some academic research on Flash and I would like to find what is Flash the most used for, or what it is the best at, in designing web sites. I would need some quantitative figures, charts, stats to illustrate this research. I have found many websites presenting the Flash player penetration but I am looking at the actual use of Flash (in video, animation, User Interaction, ...). For example, "96% of the video on the web is displayed with Flash (3% JS, 1% HTML5 video tag, ...)" ; or "vector graphics are mostly created with Flash, rather with SVG or JS".
