I can load HTML inside AS3. My problem is to have a way to display an error message if the path is incorrect and does not exist.

while opening a .fla file (that i have downloaded from internet) in FLASH, I get a popup window shows that, "Parameter is incorrect". And i cant test the file by pressing "CTRL+ENTER". Nothing happens in doing so.

I'm having issue regarding the display when using Safari on MAC, I can see my menu and the display is correct. However it doesn't position correctly on Firefox on MAC. I have a game I'm currently working on and I've got some library movie clips with actionscript attached, the constructors for the actionscript files have several arguments obviously when I instantiate the movieclip via code with the new() statement I simply pass those arguments in no problem, but how do I pass in the arguments when I drag an instance to the stage from within flash. All I currently get is an error message "incorrect number of arguments".
View 4 RepliesI am working as a teacher in Singapore and I am currently doing a project for our school. I am using the Adobe CS4 Design Premium. I am using Adobe Flash CS4 for the project I am doing. Adobe Flash CS4 crash often and after the latest crash and when I open up my project i got an error which is "parameter is incorrect" and when I press ctrl+enter, it didn't pulish the file and I have noticed that the swf file that was created before is gone after I press CTRL+enter.

View 1 RepliesI've created some error handling for external images loaded via a path in XML. Within the Flash preview it's fine and shows the full error message (and most importantly, the URL that isn't loading).
But in the browser, even locally, it doesn't out put this message!

#1006: value is not a function. at MethodInfo-43() I don't know what the problem is, or where could it be, here is the problem code, but first a brief description: Every 3 seconds 3 enemies will be created with a random position, the enemies can't be appearing on top of the other so I check if they collide with any previously added enemies, if they do I assign other random coordinates and check again until there is no collision (I'm using the collision detection kit CDK for the collisions[URL]..the first 3 enemies appear correctly but afterwards the error appears and the next time the program enters the generation part the enemies begin appearing in ridiculous numbers.

i am currently trying to learn ZendAMF, but i have a hard time troubleshooting which makes learning it quite hard. Is there a way to make the PHP file throw an exception that gets traced as an error message in AS3 (not Flex), the only error i seem to be able to get is "Error #2044: Unhandled NetStatusEvent:. level=error, code=NetConnection.Call.Failed", but it tells me jack ****.
i have gotten ZendAMF working, i just want to know how i can make error handling better, so that as an example can use PHP to tell flash that no results were found, or that the typed text was invalid. Is it better to use AS3 to check if the field was filled properly?

the first "update" function of external as file works , but the instance i added in the 2nd external file, it gives me that error... (there is a 3rd one behind it which works too)
note: the code itself is an external as file of a fla file. (and i checked, everything is linked properly to their individual external as file.

I am fairly new to FMS and really am trying to learn about it. My question is simple I hope;
I would like a message to pop up to a client when they connect that the max users has been reached. I have it set for 5 users and so I would like when the 6th user tries to connect to watch the video, a little box will pop up and say "Sorry, Max users has been reached. Please try again in a few minutes."
I was able to develop something and get it output through trace commands by following a tutorial I saw online, but I could never get any sort of message box I built to pop up.

(Currently getting the "Unsupported Operating System" swf loaded with links for the user to update there flash player) The problem with this is proceeding to the default links provided causes conflict with OSX 10.5 and below since Adobe directs them to update to Flash 11. Which will not work on that os! So what I'm trying to figure out is, IF I can detect OSX 10.5 and below with SWFobject and direct them to a 'noflash' method (ie: if you would have no flash installed to begin with).

so apparently with the new update in IE8, it starts up with NO add-ons. Since I cannot program a code to turn on add-ons in a browser, I need to show a message when this occurs. Much like an image has alternative text in the event the image doesn't load...how can I add a message that states:
