View 1 RepliesI am developing an iPhone app with Adobe Flash and I can't figure out how to send a text message directly from within the app.[code]...
When the function is run on a phone, the default SMS client is launched with the telephone number already entered
But is it possible to send an SMS text message without opening the SMS client?
Or is it only possible by calling an external server?
working on a text Chat application with FMS4 "RTMFP" connection and i am looking a functionality to send direct message to one to another peer
View 6 RepliesI am fairly new to FMS and really am trying to learn about it. My question is simple I hope;
I would like a message to pop up to a client when they connect that the max users has been reached. I have it set for 5 users and so I would like when the 6th user tries to connect to watch the video, a little box will pop up and say "Sorry, Max users has been reached. Please try again in a few minutes."
I was able to develop something and get it output through trace commands by following a tutorial I saw online, but I could never get any sort of message box I built to pop up.

View 1 RepliesHaving a problem with SWFObject reporting the correct error message for users running OSX 10.5 and below. (Currently getting the "Unsupported Operating System" swf loaded with links for the user to update there flash player) The problem with this is proceeding to the default links provided causes conflict with OSX 10.5 and below since Adobe directs them to update to Flash 11. Which will not work on that os! So what I'm trying to figure out is, IF I can detect OSX 10.5 and below with SWFobject and direct them to a 'noflash' method (ie: if you would have no flash installed to begin with).
View 1 Replieshow to display the message properly, and I am not sure if it is my for loop that is running into problems or the way I set up my message. Here is the code:
ActionScript Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
[code]...
What I try to accomplish here is to have it display the "combination of the options correctly." For example, if I select 1,2 and red, I would like the output to give me
1 Red
2 Red
and not red 1 2.

View 1 RepliesI have a website that uses flash. I would like to convert the website so that iphone / ipad users can see my website. I understand that Iphone / Ipad can't render flash. What would be the best-practice to convert flash website to iphone / ipad compatible?
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to display a message on my web pages home page to notify all viewers on some info, I need it to open automatically when the page is accessed then disapper or fade automatically.I'm trying to avoid making this a pop up because most people deativate thier pop ups.

View 0 RepliesApple is obviously rejecting Flash to protect it's 'App' revenue. I've been on Android phones that run Flash and display all my content perfectly smooth. It can be quite frustrating how they are trying to bury it when I still have yet to see HTML5 replicate the type of interactive content Flash is capable of producing. Is there any way to display a message on the iPad when the Flash player is not found? I'd like it to says something along the lines of: "Unfortunately the Apple iPad does not support the Flash player because their business interests do not want it taking away from their App revenue. Did you know that the Dell Streak, HTC Flyer, Blackberry Playbook, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Toshiba Thrive, and HP Touchpad all support the Flash player?"

so apparently with the new update in IE8, it starts up with NO add-ons. Since I cannot program a code to turn on add-ons in a browser, I need to show a message when this occurs. Much like an image has alternative text in the event the image doesn't load...how can I add a message that states:
You are using Internet Explorer 8+ and need to turn on your add-ins like FLASH Player. This site is optimized for Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
I am developing a static flex application which does not have a database connection, all the values are hardcoded(its just a prototype for the original app). Now when I click the save button, i need to get a message like saving in progress... please wait, I need to display this message for 3 seconds.
View 3 Replieshow in Flex can I display a message within a Spark List component that states that the List is empty. For example if I have a List showing number of jobs outstanding, if my List is empty then I want a message displayed across the List stating "there are no jobs to perform".
I'd rather not use an Item Renderer because then it's an Item (the list is not empty) and the item can be selected.
I have a message and its visible property is false how can i make it so it becomes true when the user types anything but a number. So there input textfield and a send button if the user types hello when they click send i want the message to become true. How would you do it? restrict?

View 12 RepliesI'm creating an exercise where I have five movieclips that at first their alpha are at 0% and then they are shown randomly and I want to verify if they are all visible (100%) a text message (a dynamic text field) will be displayed. What I want you to explain me is how do I do this verification. Do I need to do this with an IF condition?

View 2 RepliesI have 12 display monitors installed in different floors in a building. These monitors display announcements that will be update once in a day. I'm retrieving these announcements from db and storing in an array and displaying it all day long. In addition to this, I have a requirement to display emergency alert messages on the monitors. My Server is a windows 2000 server. I'm using asp for creating the JSON object.
For the emergency alert I am thinking of doing this:
Create a page in asp that lets user to enter emergency msg and save to db.
Create a page in asp that will check if there an emergency msg in db and show it in a asp page in json.
Create a timer that pings this json page every 1 second. If it's available then show it.
Is there any other sophisticated method available to poll the server or to send messages from server to client?
I've been searching high and low for a tutorial for your Flash movie that will show you how to make the movie ask for the users name at the begining and then it'll disply the name later on in the movie.
View 2 RepliesI just finished with developing my application by Adobe Flash Professional CS5 and I wonder if this will be visible to iPhones 4 because support for Retina displays was added since CS5.5.

<string>1</string>

I'm interested in developing for the iPad and iPhone, but I'd prefer not to learn Apple's whole development stack (and good golly, I sure don't want to go back to manual memory management). Oh, sure, I could learn it, but I don't have that level of commitment to the environment at this point. I've got professional experience with Flex already, so I'm intrigued by Adobe's move to make Flash/Flex compile to the iPhone and iPad. My question is: how promising of a development path will Adobe's Slider be? Are we likely to see Slider publicly available in a reasonable timeframe (Adobe: "An early mobile branch of the Flex framework is expected to be available in 2010")? Are we likely to see reasonable performance? Are there development hurdles that haven't become clear yet? Heck, is it all just vaporware? There's pretty limited information available so far, as far as I've seen, but I'm interested in people's predictions, even if they're speculative.
View 6 RepliesI have built a multi-touch application which is based on a Java EE backend and combined with BlazeDS to a Adobe Flex frontend. The application runs on a DIY-Multi-Touch which I built. Now I want to use another solution. The Adobe Flex frontend (with a multitouch library) and the BlazeDS adapter should be replaced by a solution which covers iPhone/iPad, Android and commercial Multi-Touch displays.
The problem is the iPad/iPhone, there is no Flash Player runtime (not the jail-breaked ones), but the application should be runnable also on those devices. So Adobe Flex and a Java frontend (no JVM on the iPhone/iPad) is not possible anymore. At first, starting the developing of the application it was not neccessary, to run it on Apples mobile devices, but this changed So, what can I do, using HTML5? So I can use it for Android and iPhone/iPad. But I also want to make it possible to use it on a commercial multi-touch-display and normal display with a mouse (I only have gestures for one finger, the 2-finger gestures are not neccessary). Are there any frameworks that allow this? Because I do not want to create several frontends (App for iPhone/iPad on Objective-C and a Adobe Flex for all other devices), it would be great if I can build a frontend for all devices.
I am looking to develop basic client server data application to add value to a website.
The website is .net based and opening an api such as asmx web service, json or xml would be simple.
Can anyone tell me what are the limitations - technically, what is possible with flash and also what Apple consider to be good practice.
Does anyone have any Actionscript code examples?
Can an iphone app developed with Adobe AIR (version 2.6/2.7) play a streaming sound when it is in background? Only native application can play in background? I have not found a clearly response to this question on documentation. PS: i'm using the Adobe AS3 class Sound to play a shoutcast streaming.
View 2 RepliesI'm interested in building a thick client application for my existing web services that will run on the IPhone. Flash finally seems to be an option, so I thought about using Flex for client side development.
However, since flash apps are not natively supported by the IPhone, but only through a wrapper, I was wondering if these apps can persist any data. Data entered by the user should eventually be transmitted to the web service, but until then I want it to persist even if the Iphone should run out of power.
Is this possible? Or does the Iphone flash wrapper make it impossible to access the hard disk?
