I am developing some Text effects in AS3. I did complete curve text effect but are getting problem with bulge text. Because bulge text distort each characters so i have to convert the text to bitmap format to distort. The problem is the quality is not good enough, especially when we resize the object. I see in some websites they solved this issue and it works pretty good, like as [URL].

Now, after my flash player update from 10.0 to 10.2.152, resized image quality is poor. Also quality depends on original image dimensions, even 1px difference in width or height for same user's original image for some reason can affect differently on quality of resized image.Actionscript Code:
result = new FileWork(Bitmap(loader.content));
Actionscript Code:
package fgm{ import flash.net.*; import flash.system.*; import
[code].....

I've included the full class called Navigation.as. The class basically draws navigation elements on screen and displays them onMouse over and out. What's also neat is that it actually "rotates" them onto the screen. Now I'm using a font called "Minx" which is a bitmap font. However when the rotation occurs the image quality and the text ends up looking *really* blurry. It appears others have noticed this issue: [URL]. The issue is thus that when Flash converts the MovieClip to bitmap it's perspective distorts the quality.

In the default context menu, there's the quality adjustment settings with a sub menu for the low, medium, high. I know how to manipulate the menu at the top level just fine (so don't worry about having to explain how to use the ContextMenu classes), I'm just wondering if it's possible to create sub-menus like that quality one.

I'm trying to get a transparent image to fly in from the side. So, I *thought* I was doing the correct thing by moving the "symbol" off of the visible portion of the stage, and creating a motion tween to move it onto the stage. The motion works, but the quality of the image in general (and the text in specific) looks pixelated.Thus, I did a little bit of snooping, and everyone said that you should start with a bitmap. So I saved the image from Photoshop into .bmp format, and was able to set the properties to "allow smoothing" and with lossless compression. So far, so good. Now, as I expected, the transparency is no longer there...
So here's the question: how can I make this image retain its quality, still have transparency, and a motion tween?It seems like this is some set of characteristics that don't play well together, even though I see this type of thing online ALL the time.I tried "Trace Bitmap" to convert to a raster image, and tried to follow some suggestions online, but when I do "Trace Bitmap", it ends up looking like it has a bunch of grayish dots on the image... definitely NOT what I was expecting.

Background info: I am using ActionScript 2.0 and Flash CS5I was working on a game and I used photoshop to save a little gif image. I imported it into flash, "broke it apart", turned it into a movie clip, and put this bit of code on it. It rotates the image when the mouse is moved around it.
Code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
// find x and y differences

I have been struggling in Flash to find out if advanced bitmap distortion is possible in flash. I am talking about the same distortion effects that Photoshop generates by going to Filter > distort menu. Especially the spherize, Wave and Twirl effects. The displacement map filter introduced in Flash 8 or 9 has this capability. But I don't think it can actually distort the bitmap in Flash. All they do is create a false image and don't actually convert the image.So I want to imitate Photoshop in Flash so that when I have an image in Flash the user would feel like he's using Photoshop filters and twirling or spherizing the image.

I want to tween a movieclip so it changes from squared to trapezoid. Just imagine a text paragraph distorted like the scrolling text in the beginning of Star Wars movies.It would be easy to make the shape and then distort it, but what I want is to tween from undistorted to distorted and it seems that normal tweening only allows skewing, rotation and resizing.Since a picture is worth a thousand words, this is what I want to do (the dog is not the movieclip I want to distort, just an example):This is easy in Photoshop (CTRL+T and then pick a corner with SHIFT+CTRL+ALT) and also in edition time in Flash, but I want the distortion to happen in execution time so it looks like the movieclip is standing up and then falls back.

Whats the best way to destroy a movie clip? Right now I just do (AS3):
removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME,enterFrame);
MovieClip(parent).removeChild(this);
But the object still exists in memory even though it is not executing script. Is there any way to completely get rid of it?

I'm populating an array using the push method. I would like the user to be able to select from 1 of 5 different XML docs... these load info into the array. But when the user selects anew, I dont know how to destroy the array so that I can re-populate it.
Also, is there a way to destroy an XML object?

Every time I package an android application and run it from my phone it really distorts images/movieclips.I can see slight transparancies around movieclips that shouldnt be there, images look pixelated, when played on the computer it shows no issues with any of it.Are there any tips or tricks to solving this?Also the performance just is spotty on the devices. Was using flash cs5 and just DL the trial of 5.5.Also is there a place to look at best practices for optimizing adobe air applicatiosn for mobile devices?

I'm making simple 3D transformations in Flash to rotate stuff, but I get distortions. I can rotation left, right, up, down, but not diagonally since it completely distorts my faces (the ones I draw).I think I fail to move the camera somehow, but I'm not experienced enough to understand my error.Here's the file: http:[url]....
Example: when a face is rotated at about 45° around the y axis (vertical to screen) and then rotated around the x axis the perspective doesn't feel right... the faces are too narrow.What I do is multiply the rotation matrices between themselves (the mouse position providing the angles) get the transformed points, project them to screen and draw boxes with them.

I am using Papervision3D Flash 3D engine to render a model. Also I am noob in 3D =D Model is simple, it's a parallelepiped with different textures on its sides. All works just fine except one thing: whenever I change my visual angle to a model from 90° textures on the sides are distorted. I notices that it is common effect in 3D graphics, I saw that effect in games and other 3D renderers (i.e. away3D, three.js) even wth different 3D models. Distorted texture on object (different view angle): Normal texture on object (same object and texture) (view angle == 90°): What is the reason of this effect?

If you assign any sprite a z property of 0, the sprite gets scaled a little bit (too big) and the sprite gets a little blurry.

rotating/scaling images is seemingly a no-go in flash at least when i try it.but still seeing sites as this: [URL]walk with me :
shangai : work : december 2007 : WWF
when you select a picture and zoom in, the transition is so darn smooth, the picture isn't even distorted/pixelated they use 2 versions, the original size, and the bigger size once clicked they switch between the two and scale them. Still it doesn't work well for me. i still have pixel distortion. i tried loadBithmapSmoothed classes, etc, all to no avail.

We're trying to implement a smooth distortion free pan and zoom similar to the pan and zoom slide show in Windows Vista. I'm using the Tween class for the animation. For zoom I'm tweening the _width property then setting _yscale equal to _xscale in the change event. In parallel, I'm tweening the _x and _y position for the pan motion. I've set the quality to highest, the cache bitmap property to true, and the FPS on the Stage to 30. Still, the images show lots of wavy, shimmery distortion on every redraw. The start and destination rectangles for the images is known up front. I tried just tweening the _xscale but that doesn't translate well when you're targeting specific rectangles. Maybe there's some other completey different way to do it I haven't ran across?

I have a question (I'm sure somebody asked it before, but I didn't find the threat. How can I delete/destroy/whatever a movieclip during a movie? I made a game, in the game there is a zombie (movieclip), and when its life (life???) reaches zero, it should be destroyed. I tried "removeMovieClip(this)" and much more, but it didn't work, but also there were no errors.

I'm trying to make multiple dynamically created MovieClip classes move across the stage and have created an ENTER_FRAME Event Listener in each one. Usually, when I remove a MovieClip, I simply remove them from the container and splice their pointer from the array. But it appears that doing this does not remove Event Listeners or even the functions I've writted inside the class and thus each "removed" MovieClip produces errors every frame. (Even without the errors, I would still not want those things running in the background)
So my question is rather simple, what is the best way of disposing of a MovieClip class (or classes in general) and making sure that no residues are left behind?

I have a BlazeDS destination and the scope is set to request. Is there a way to get BlazeDS to call destroy() when the request is complete? Is there another way to know when the request is complete?
I know I can use finalize(), but that is only called when garbage collection occurs.

I am making a game with flash as3. I create a movieclip that contains all of the games content within it. I pretty much encapsulated the game within this one movie clip. after the game is over I remove the movieclip off the screen. but yet, all the other movieclips within the main movieclip still keep playing.
I could create a deconstructor that removes all the items. but that seems like much to do. is there something easier ?I tried making the movieclip null. but all the other movieclips Timers keep going off still and causes errors to go off.

If I load an external swf and when I no longer need that swf, what is proper way to destroy it? Do I have the loader that called the swf to do "loader.unload" and "loader.content = null", in the the external swf
I have a public method to destroy() but I'm not quite sure what to make null and remove? Do I need to set all vars to null and I'm using a lot of public static vars so I don't know if I removed external swf what happens to the static vars do they still stay in memory if I set the external swf to null?

Do I just walk the keys and 'delete' the objects? If so do I need to destroy the keys? or are they already removed when the object is removed from the Dictionary?[code]...

I'm working on a AS2 website (template, exporting to Flash 8) that is 100% xml loaded Flash. So the main movie has a menu with mainmenu items ("mmitems") and submenu items ("smitems") that are generated using an xml file.When you click a menu item an external module (gallery, slideshow, etc) is loaded into a container.Now, I want to load an external module that is a YouTube video player. The loading works perfectly and the player works fine.The problem is unloading it: when I click another menu item, the YouTube player is removed from stage as it should be, but the audio keeps playing. I know I'm supposed to use the (loader name).ytplayer.destroy() code somewhere, but I've no idea where and in which script exactly to place this.
In the main movie, nothing is done on the timeline and all the script is on the first and second frame. So I have the following levels:- actionscript (frame 1 and 2, all the script))- mainmenubuttons (frame 1 and 2, no script, instance "navig" on frame 2)- submenubuttons (frame 1 and 2, no script, instance "subnavig" on frame 2)- content (frame 1 and 2, no script, instance "moduleloader" on frame 2)Then there is the YouTube videoplayer itself. All the scripting is on frame 1 o- as (frame 1, all the script)- ytplayer (frame 1, instance "ytplayer")As far as I can understand, the destroy-script destroys the instance of "ytplayer" so it breaks the connection with YouTube and stops loading the videoclips. I also understand that this has to be done before the next menu item in the main movie is clicked to load the next module. But that still doesn't tell me where to actually put that line of script.

I was looking at making a site similar to this [URL]..The way the white frame scales into whatever the screen res is with no distortion and the center movie I have code to allow that to stay centered, but not sure how you restrict it from overlaying the frame thats on top of that.
Basically I was just seeing if anyone was able to replicate this exact movie, with out the graphics, and I can build the rest. If you need code that I have sourced already that is fine. I can send some of that.
