View 4 RepliesFlash 8, CS3 and CS4 on Windows XP. The issue is that seemingly randomly, when I draw with the pencil tool, the line starts to zigzag and squirm, even though my mouse/wacom tablet is moving steadily. It's little tiny squirms that go in all different random directions. It's pretty much impossible to draw anything when this is going on, and I usually have to do something else for a while and hope it's still not doing it when I come back.

View 1 RepliesI'm in the process of teaching myself the components of the CS4 Design Premium package using the Adobe Classroom in a Book series. I'm currently going through the Flash CIAB and i've started using the pen tool. The task involves creating a wave like design across the stage. Whilst this in itself is simple, the final instruction is to click on the first anchor point to close the shape. In the illustration, the closed shape seems to automatically extend around the stage, however when I click on the first anchor point, the line automatically connects between the two points in a straight line.
Am I doing something wrong? The next step is to fill this area, but with the straight line effect that I am getting, this becomes impossible. I should point out that the instruction states that the pen tool line should extend off the stage. I have done this, but even then on clicking on the first anchor point the shape is closed incorrectly.

View 3 RepliesI need to be able to draw a thick patterend line between 2 points in AS3, I can't use the draw API because it doesn't all me to actually put detail (pattern etc) into the thickness of the line, I thought about perhaps using the line to create a bitmap version and then using that as a mask, but I remember many years ago seeing some examples that use a movieclip as a source for a line.

View 1 RepliesI'm making a very simple game that lets you draw a curve by hand (using lineTo to the mouse position on mousemove) but now, I need to check wether the line intersects wiith another part of the same line (e.g. a loop)
I first used an onrollover command, and that worked, but not always because the mouse moved too fast (same with hittest with mouse). Then I pre-drawed the line in another mc, used hittest on it, and if it wasn't intersecting, draw it in the real mc. But that didn't work because it used the bounds to test. I guess the best way is to use some mathematical formula, but that would mean I have to save all my coordinates in an array..
Just opened flash for the first time to find that the pen tool will only draw straight lines.It can still plot points and the lines will join up but curves are impossible.Is there some setting that disable drawing curves? I haven't found anything in the annoyingly-online files.

View 1 RepliesI'm new to Adobe Flash CS4, and I was wondering why on earth my pencil tool delays when I draw with it? I will click, draw my line (which will be invisible), then when I let go of my mouse/pen, the line appears. Is it supposed to do that? Is there a way to fix it? I hate it, because I can't see what I'm doing. I downloaded all of the updates, and I have more than enough memory on my computer and my processor is more than fast enough. My paintbrush works fine, it's just the pencil.

View 4 RepliesI recently installed the CS5 Master Collection on my MacPro for work. I need to use Flash CS5 in order to work on some projects in the office, however I'm encountering several issues that make it near impossible for me to use the software. First of all, when I start the program and select "New..." and select any type of new file, I'm greeted by nearly every button being greyed out, to where I cannot select them. I've found out that I can make these buttons usable by changing my workspace in Flash.
The issue that's causing me trouble is that whenever I select any sort of "Drawing" tool, Flash CS5 crashes immediately. Whenever I click on the line, pen, circle, rectangle, pencil, or brush tools, CS5 freezes briefly (about 2-3 seconds) and then immediately closes. I can still use tools such as the Pan tool, zoom, text, and selection tool. Also, whenever I select the Spray Can tool, I get the following error:
Unable to load the script. The file <filepath>/ProScripts/sprayBrush.jsx does not exist.
I have already tried updating my system, updating every Adobe product on this machine, reinstalling, and even using a seperate installation CD, but everything thus far has yielded the same results.
Info on my system:
MacPro running OS X V. 10.6
2 x 2.26 GHx quad-core proocessors
12 GB DDR3

When the user clicks 'CANCEL' button, I want the error message tooltips if present to be cleared off from the screen. The message tool tips remains on the screen even if the CANCEL button is clicked.
I'm trying to implement a multiple file uploader and expose and API for javascript. Even though I think I can handle urlrequests, I'm having a hard time making a SimpleButton.I want the button to have the size of the movieclip/sprite that I create. I'm trying without luck to make a movieclip of 130px x 30px, and have a simple button that fills the entire area. What I try to do in actionscript:

I need to make a circle with a brush tool so that it looks like a child draws it. If I make a dot with the brush tool on the first frame and a circle on the 15th frame and then create shape tween between those frames it looks stupid, like the circle grows itself. Is there any possibility of making such a thing except for drawing it per frame?

So far I know how to draw and call a simple movie clip such as what you see below. What I am trying to do is create the features that you see on the above website.I'll try to explain as best as possible what I have done so far:I created one flash file and drew the background for where the text will display. Next I created several movie clips for each of the brain parts and I placed an invisible button over each of these movies.For example I told the button,"cerebellum_button" to play the movie "cerebellum_mc" and told it to go to the"turnon" label."Once it stopped at the label "turnoff" it displayed the text to explain what the cerebellum does.
I feel that my code is redundant because I�m having to create a button for each animated movie clip and in each on of the movie clips I have text that will display. It seems to me that I can somehow create text for all of the movie clips in one centralized location and call each one of those text by using labels. Is there a way that I can centralize all of the text then call it? My aim is to have the user roll over the brain part, have it animate, and have it display the text to explain what that brain part does.I have one invisable
button and one animated movie that includes text.

I am trying to line up two MCS with a button using startDrag, but when I click to drag, the two MCS are not lined up, and the two MCS do not stop in the final position of the button that uses startDrag. Look the example: [URL]

I want it so that when you click a button, it will run a multiplayer game and connect to a server, WITHOUT having any .bat or .exe files beforehand. So any new guy can rock up and connect, just as long as he has the game.
If you run Jedi Academy multiplayer like this:
jamp +set fs_game "japlus" +connect "193.155.0.5:29070"
It will run the game and connect to a certain server. The problem is, how do I get Flash to do that without any premade .exes with command lines?
The only other problem I can think of is, is it possible to run the game without knowing the directory the exe is in? In other words, could Flash find the game .exe if it was just given a name?
