I have a dynamic text box that is being populated by this line of code:

I am needing to have the three distinct areas to be different colors of text. Can I do it in this line only? These elemnts are being pulled in from the first part of my file and I want them all the same unitl I pull the the info into "feedback.htmlText".
My goal is making a navigation section that is a scrollable box. I thought the easiest solution was to make a dynamic text box and put a scroll bar on it. Worked until it came time to make the links. It is only letting me make one link for all the text. Also I think I want more control for the mouseover look.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to duplicate an MC 11 times - that works fine. But the MC has a dynamic text box centered on it. I would like the first one to say "1900" and each one after to be increased by 10. So the second one says "1910", the third says "1920" and so on. I have this code on an MC called "timeline". The MC I am trying to duplicate is called "bar" and is with "timeline":

but to no avail. The dynamic text box on the bar MC is called "year". I have tried making that the var as well as the instance name and still no luck.
I have a dynamic text box for multiple questions in a text. We would like to get the text box to align bottom (so the text is always at the bottom of the box no matter how much text is in the varriable). Is there a way to do this?
View 5 RepliesI can't get the letterspacing property to function in a dynamic text box, I have tested it with color and it works just fine. just letterspacing. And I have embedded the font, so I know it isn't that. The code affecting the text box is this.

Those working with AS2 have had similar problems but managed to fix it by typing "setNewTextFormat", which has been phased out in AS3.

I have a problem: I'm trying to have a dynamic text box (htmlText) with a number of links (all dynamically generated themselves) within. I need some way that the html link can detect the user mousing over/off of it and fire off a function (to bring up a tooltip elsewhere on the interface, specifically). Is this at all possible in ActionScript 1.0?
View 1 RepliesI have recently designed a children's educational game that is completed, however; it is a puzzle and the puzzle pieces can be dropped on top of each other and they hide behind eachother which I do not want to happen. I would like the game pieces to automatically get pushed off to the side of the other puzzle pieces that are in use...not stacked on top of each other. The game is complete except for this one problem.

In my txt file there are some "&" and "+" characters that need to be displayed. So I URL encoded these characters. "&" becomes %26 and "+" becomes %2b. Strange thing is: it works perfect for the "+", but the "&" won't show nowhere...

I am trying to create a tshirt design tool in flash as2. I have created 2 textboxes one is dynamic and one is input. I am currently working on a project for my computer programming course, creating an rpg game, and have already ran into a problem i've spent a few hours trying to fix; I have an input textbox with the instance name of "inputname". The player is supposed to put his name here and then click a button, instance name continuebtn, that will change to frame two on the scene. Frame two has a dynamic textbox with the name of "greetingtb".
greetingtb already says 'ahh so your name is ' and after that I would like to add the name that was placed into inputname. What I thought would work was create a variable with the name of playername. I dont know if i wrote this right, i declared it as my first thing in an action layer:

How do I do this? I'm having a LOT of trouble with this..and I'm on a deadline

i think i read an article before about google or some SE teaming up with the Adobe Flash Developers in an effort to include flash pages into search results by allowing the text inside SWFs to be read by the SEs... not really sure about the details, but its something to that extent..
that's good news but what i would like to know is if spam bots can do the same and read text inside an SWF file?for example, if i have an SWF file with a dynamic textbox that has some text that contains an email address, will spam bots be able to read it?if this is the case, then i will just make the email address an image..but the benefits of having the email address inside a dynamic textbox is that it's selectable; making it easier for visitors to just copy the address as opposed to having to look at the image and type it manually...

1) Create a New Flash File (AS 3.0)
2) Put a dynamic text field there, named textBox
3) The font is Trebuchet MS - BOLD. (example... can be any bold font)
4) Using "Character Embedding", I've embedded numerals, for example.
5) In first frame, I put the code: textBox.text = "1";
6) If I compile at this point, the "1" will appear.
7) BUT.... if I put a static text box with anything typed, using Trebuchet MS - REGULAR, and compile the FLA again, the number 1 WON'T appear!

It's possible in plain HTML to wrap pieces of text in spans or tags that can make it easy to style them later. For example, if I wrap "part can be styled" in a span wit class stylable, I could define my own style later for it. This <span class="stylable">part can be styled</span> later if needed I'm new to actionscript, and I'm wondering if something similar exists for actionscript/flex?
View 1 RepliesI have an input textfield where the user can enter a long string of numbers, seperated by spaces. Example of this is "2 4 10 20". I made the textbox and made sure it only numbers and spaces can be entered. However, I am looking all over google for a way to split these numbers and save them in a different var when a space is encountered. I don't really know how to even start doing this.
saving in vars does not have to happen in runtime, but only when a button is pressed.
is there also a way to prevent the user from entering a space right after another space?
