ActionScript 3.0 :: Changing Text Colors On The Event Of Buttons?

Sep 24, 2011

when i run this code.. all is good and everything is read from the file trees.txt

var myLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader()
myLoader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES
myLoader.load(new URLRequest("trees.txt"))
myLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onDataLoad)

[code]...

now what i am trying to do, and i am almost certain i am going the wrong way with this, is to add on rollover a button that corrosponds to the text the text will change color from black to red. meaning... if i rollover button_0  the text of tcname_0 with change to red , and if i rollover button_1 text in tcname_1 would change.. and so on. so here is what i did:

var myLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader()
myLoader.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES
myLoader.load(new URLRequest("trees.txt"))

[code]...

2- if the loop works and doesnt break, i still have a problem of how to exactly pass the name of the text field that should be changed. right now i am hard coding it as tcname_2 to see if this even works but i would like it to somehow pass the button_x (x being the number) and use that x to change the corrosponding text i.e (tcname_x) .. is this even doable?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Embedding Font And Changing Colors Of Inline Text?

Dec 15, 2009

I've tried several solutions to get this to work on a dynamically created text field. None of them get the job done.

The font I want to use (let's call it FancyFont) is in the library and does have actionscript linkage. It is exported in Frame 1.

Approach 1: Using CSS:

Since I would like to ultimately be able to change the string dynamically, I'm not loading from an external file.

Code:
var styleString="body{font-weight:bold; font-family:FancyFont;} .red {color:#cc0000}"
var style:StyleSheet=new StyleSheet();

Professional :: Way Of Resizing A Dynamic Text Box Without The Type Changing Size?

Apr 1, 2010

I want to use the UI Text Scroll component on a text box. When I make the initial text box,it is the normal 1 line in depth, based on the font size. When I paste the type into the box it gets very long, which is fine, but when I try to make the text box  smaller using  the transform tool so that I can make it fit the movie, it makes the type smaller as well. Is there a way to change the height of the box, without it effecting the text inside?

Professional :: Dynamic Text Field With Multiple, Changing Variables

Nov 18, 2010

I am at work right now trying to create a power point for our Christmas party.  I know I can do so much more with Flash than I can with any other power point program.  Right now, I'm trying to figure out a way to load a list of names into one dynamic text field that changes at certain time intervals.  I'm using ActionScript 2 right now b/c I haven't learned 3, yet.  Is there a way for Flash to access a word document and load a name say, every minute?  I know I could add a different variable name in front of each employee name, like content, content1, content2, but I have a list of like 300 names here.  That would take up almost as much time as it would creating a slide for each name in Power Point.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Dynamic Text Field Changes Colors But Bullets Don't For Html Text

Oct 26, 2010

I'm trying to use a dynamic text field to pull in html text that contains a bulleted list. Easy enough, that works. But the bullets dont take on the color assigned to the field. I've tried putting it in the html text and also using NewTextFormat and neither work. Can someone help me. This should be a simple fix, but I can't find it... I just want my text and bullets to both be white.

Simple code below. Using html text inside the flash document and having a dynamic field on the screen named txt. Code should turn text and bullets green, but it doesn't work, only text turns green

this.txt.html = true;
var my_fmt:TextFormat = new TextFormat();my_fmt.color = 0x00FF00; // hex value for green
this.txt.htmlText = "<P> This is the first paragraph</P><BR><UL><LI>Bullet 1</LI><LI><BR>Bullet 2</LI><LI><BR>Bullet 3</LI><LI><BR>Bullet 4</LI><LI><BR>Bullet 5</LI></UL>";this.txt.setTextFormat(my_fmt);

CS3 Dynamic Text - Change Colors Based On Data

Aug 25, 2009

I'm building a project for a gaming website and i have an interesting dilemma. How do i make the font color change based on the data loaded from the external .txt file.

Example:

In text files i could have... yes yes yes no no maybe yes no. If the text says yes i would like for the font to change to green, if no to red, or maybe to orange/yellowish.

So basically if i went in and changed the No to a Yes on a .txt file, the next time i viewed that flash section the yes text would be in green instead of the default set by the flash core itself.

I hope i am making sense. I don't even know how to go about starting and i stared at the actionscript list for awhile to no avail.

Professional :: Flash CS4 - Change The Colors Of The Background Or Text That Shows Up In The Layers Section?

Mar 8, 2010

I am colorblind.I need to change either the color of the background or the color of the text on the layers section on the Timeline.I simply cannot read/see what is currently showing.It is a very light blue background with white text and white dots for seeing, locking, or setting the outline color.I need to either change the text color and dots to black so I can see them, or try to change the background color to a dark blue so I can read the white text.Changing the text color would really be my preference. Adobe hasn't been very concerned about colorblindness when developing these products. I can barely make out all the light grey/grey/dark grey/grey stuff.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Changing Text In Dynamic Text Box

Sep 6, 2011

I'm trying to put a text in a dynamic text box. The text element, however, is placed dynamically:

var topText:myDynamicText = new myDynamicText();
topText.name = "NameTextTop";
topText.text = String("Text 1");
addChild(topText);
topText.text = String("Text 2");

Placing the text element isn't the problem, but I cannot seem to change the text in the element. As you can see, I tried placing the text before and after putting the text element on the stage. Both didn't work. The text element is creating from scratch by adding text with the Text Tool. It's single line dynamic text, Arial regular and the text characters have been embedded. Can anyone tell me what might be the problem, because I'm completely stuck.

Flash 5: Changing Variables For Dynamic Text

Jul 17, 2009

My .txt file is called my_text.txt

Inside I have:
myText1=This is test 1.
&myText2=This is test 2.

I tested it out with my dynamic text. If I made the variable myText1, it loaded the first line. If I made it myText2, it loaded the second line. All seemed to be fine.

I have a dynamic textbox, variable named names. I want to be able to change the variable in order to get it to load whichever line of text I want.

I tried:

names = myText1;
loadVariablesNum ("my_text.txt", 0);

But that's not working. I've tried playing around with it in various ways, like
names = eval(myText1);

and such, but nothing is effectively getting it to change. I've been trying to look it up and tried all the different ways people told other people to use, but it's not working for me.

Once I get this work I everything should fall into place easily.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Changing Dynamic Text Not Working

I have a simple line

_root.txt_progressbar.text = "Parsing CSV file to grid.";

Yet this sometimes works and sometimes doesn't work. Seems to have issues if I put it in a function. It is like it doesn't have enough time to action this line. Is there some kind of delay I can use to wait for it to be done?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Changing Dynamic Text Color?

Nov 23, 2005

I have an array made up of nodes pulled from an XML file. Is it possible to change the text attributes (i.e. color or alpha) of one of these chunks of text.

So a very typical situation. XML is loaded into arrays. The text is loaded with a for loop into an empty movieslip. Looks like this:

text_obj.xmlNode1[n]

So lets say I want to do something to the color of array position 1. I set up a little function....

dummyButton.onPress = function(){
text_obj.xmlNode1[0].color = 0xff0000;
}

Seems like it should work, but doesn't Can I do this with dynamic text? Is there a workaround? I basically need to call out portions of the text during an animation. Think animated text highlighting.
