ActionScript 2.0 :: Launching Javascript Window From Attached Movie?

Jul 7, 2005

I've been attempting to launch a window from an attached movie, I've got the function to work but after it launches, the main window (with the flash file) relocates automatically with the message "[object Window]"

I'm presently using the following coding with the button's AS:

Code:
getURL("javascript:window.open('http://www.atomicstos.com/popup.html','Nubeau Guarantee', 'toolbar=no, location=no, status=no, menubar=no, scrollbars=no, resizable=no, width=500, height=800')");

I've attempted to setup a javascript function in the HTML and have the "getURL" call the function, but that doesn't seem to work.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Launching New Window From SWF Ad On Click

Oct 6, 2008

I am using Flash CS3 and am attempting to simply launch a new window from a .swf ad when clicked. For the publisher I have to use the clickTAG property to track the ad. I have made an invisible button (just the hit state the same size as my stage) and am placing this code on my button on the timeline:
on (release) {
if (clickTAG.substr(0,5) == "[URL]") {
getURL(clickTAG, "_blank");
}}

There are 2 problems. Firstly, the debugger generates errors:
1087: Syntax error: extra characters found after end of program.

Professional :: Not Launching In New Browser Window?

May 18, 2010

I have setup a Flash viewer in a HTML Div container. In the Flash I have put a button which, when clicked, launches a new browser window with another site I've done to appear in. When I test this in Flash its working fine and launches the new window as it should. But when I go into Dreamweaver where I have placed the Swf. in the Div container, I test it locally in a Firefox browser window. The viewer appears and it works correctly, but when I click the button to launch the new browser window it just opens a window with an error msg 'unable to connect, etc'.

Professional :: Launching A New Window With SWF From Preloader

Jun 23, 2010

I have a preloader that measures the size of the external swf, then goes to a frame with a 'launch site' button on it. When the button is clicked, I'd like a popup window to open that is the exact size of the swf file (1100x800), but I can't figure out how to do that. I know there is some combination of AS3 and javascript required. Has anyone done this? I cannot attach the preloader file that launches the external swf since this is my first post, but have it available if anyone wants it. I have the site online for viewing as it is currently (just loads then opens in same window): [URL]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Mailto Is Launching Email Ok But Also Launching Blank Webpage

Jun 4, 2009

I am using AS3 on a website. Part of the AS has been setup by an external source and I ma now updating and adapting it. My knowledge of AS is limited but slowly expanding.

Currently the site is a main flash file with all the content delivered via a main.as file and then populated via images and videos held in folders on the web.

In one section we have an email link.

I was using Email[url]... and it worked fine. It launched the email program and put the email address in ready to go.

When I added the subject element as below[url]...

it now does what it should with the email program but it also opens a blank webpage.

What can I do to get rid of the blank web page opening?

Javascript :: AS3 ExternalInterface: Control A Movie From Another Window?

Dec 10, 2010

How can I control a flash movie in a window from a child (pop-up) window invoked via ExternalInterface's call method?

The name of the movie is myMovie. Using javascript in the popup, I try to access a function in the movie using document['myMovie'].flashFunction(). However, since the javascript is in the popup window and the flash is in another, the browser complains that the function is undefined.

This would have worked if the javascript and the movie were in the same window.

I use Firefox.

Javascript :: Allowing Flash Movie To Communicate To Containing Window Without Exposing Full ExternalInterface?

Oct 14, 2011

I'm working on a site that allows administrators to upload arbitrary SWFs and embed them on the page. Administrators are in theory trusted, but I still want to protect against potentially malicious administrators or misguided administrators from harming the site.

A part of the functionality of the site is that the SWFs can communicate to the containing browser page when it's finished and for the page to react.

Now, I can think of two ways to do this:

Use ExternalInterface.addCallback to create a global callback named something like isComplete that does logic and returns true or false depending on whether the Flash app is in a completed state. Then, just do something like setTimeout to just call that function repeatedly. I don't think this would require me to open up allowscriptaccess to the movie. Embed the movie with allowscriptaccess and have the movie call something like ExternalInterface.call('done') when it's finished. This option seems like it requires me to open up allowscriptaccess, which is a potential threat since I can't control the SWFs that would be embedded with this directive.

Flash :: POST To Opened Javascript Window And Have Close The Window

Nov 30, 2011

I created a Flash application that reads POST data from a form. A user clicks the button, and the data gets posted to the flash app in a new window (_blank). Now takes the data and then spins a wheel to give users a prize. If they don't win a message pops up letting them know they didn't win. If they don't win, clicking the OK button needs to close the browser window.

I've tried a number of solutions and it seems that the only way to get this done is to launch the window with javascript and then use ExternalInterface.call('window.close'); to close the window from within the Flash actionscript (3) because otherwise the window won't close (I've tried just using window.close and window.close() with no luck)

I understand how to launch a new window with javascript, but I don't know how to simultaneously launch and POST data to that window (the Flash application has to have the POST data. Is this the best solution? Is there a way to close a browser window easier than what I'm describing?[URL]

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Movie - Launching Main And Secondary SWFs?

Jul 26, 2011

I have a main flash movie, that launches an external swf. Now this works fine, but this external SWF, launches more external mini SWFs. What happens is that after going opening and closing these mini swfs, is that eventually the main swf, will start to to run beneath the the 1st external swf. i.e. I have a small animation that is suppose to stop and remain invisible until the secondary swf is closed.

But this is not the case, and very randomly this will start to happen, and it makes everything look like crap. At first I thought it was the fonts that I was using through out the swfs, because there were some design changes, but after updating the SWFs with the new embedded font I am still running into this issue.
Look at it like this.
main swf---->2nd swf--->numerous 3rd swfs

ActionScript 2.0 :: Targeting Attached Movie Clips

Dec 13, 2005

I'm having trouble figuring out how to target a series of movie clips i'm attaching to my movie.I'm loading some xml for a slideshow and i'm generating a series of dots at the bottom of the screen to indicate how many steps are in the slideshow and the circle is meant to highlight your current position as you step through the presentation.the MC for the dots is two keyframes with a different color and a stop action on each frame.
Here's the rundown of the code:

1. There's nothing weird here, i'm just bringing the xml in [code]

2. Here is the loadXML function i reference in the xml.Data.onLoad above:[code]Okay so now i have some dots with the instance names, step0, step1 etc. right? And at the end of my loadXML function you see the firstImage(); function. This is where my problem is, how do i target the first (step0) instance? I have no problem when I write "step0.gotoAndStop(2);" but I need to figure out how to use a variable to keep moving it along when i make my next and last functions for the slideshow.

3. Here is the firstImage function:[code]how do i target the step the same way i target the image? do i have to go back and do something in the loadXML for loop?[code]

contentslinks.contents_link_1.onRelease = function() { content_mc._visible = false; book_mc.directGotoPage(4);

ActionScript 2.0 :: Attaching Movies Within An Attached Movie?

Mar 21, 2008

I have a website, when you click a menu item it fades the current page out, and the selected one in. No problems with that, it all works well.

The only problem is, within those attached movies, all the actionscript doesnt work. I have, for example, a research page, which have 4 buttons, each of which attach a movieclip to and empty movieclip... Just a simple attachMovie function, but it doesnt work. If copy the research movieclip into a seperate flash file, everything works and the movies are attached fine, but in the website .fla, after the research page is loaded itself, none of the movies attach properly.

Are there any known issues with attaching movies within an attached movie?
