ActionScript 2.0 :: Levels In Loaded Swf File?

The main swf file of my site loads other swf files into it. Nothing hard there!But one of these loaded swf's has a number of buttons and what I need it to do is load aditional swf's into 'levels' of that file (not the main swf).I just can't seem to do it. Everything works fine but the swf's load into the main swf meaning they overlap areas that I don't want them to appear inYou can load into levels within a loaded swf.2) Does each swf have its own levels or do we have to use only one set of levels that are in the main swf.3) And if they do have their own levels, how on earth do I tell it to load into them.My AS is as simple as this;loadMovieNum("quail01.swf", portvar);portvar is a variable.As I say it works fine when testing it within this swf, but as soon as I use the 'main swf', it loads into that files levels.

Im a bit confused about the adressing of .swf-files loaded into levels of another .swf-file. The adressing seem to be absolute, ie. if a sub.swf (which is loaded into a super.swf from another location) uses some sort of adressing (for instance, loading an image), that adress must include the path from the super.swf.
Cant you change that somehow, so that sub.swf's can adress other stuff relatively to its own adress? Can you do that globally (so that relative adressing is used by every .swf)? Can you set it individually, so that adressing is relative only from the specified swf's?

i have a movie that has 3 buttons on it..(and there r 7 of these button containing movies being loaded into my main movie...but this is not important in our case i guess.) anyway, each button loads a movie (they r draggable windows) into my main movie, located in different levels (not targets)..the problem is i want to change the alpha and depths of these draggable movies.eg;when i click on a button i want that draggable movie to come forward and set its alpha to 100 and the other two to 30..i could do this by loading the windows in target locations..but i can't do it when i load them in levels..

Is it possible to control one loaded SWF File eg.(MOVIE-1.swf) from another loaded SWF file eg.(MOVIE-0.swf) on a different level? eg. with a syntax like:
onRelease
_MOVIE-1.SWF.gotoAndStop (4)
or:
onRelease
gotoAndStop (MOVIE-1.swf, frame4)

I'm building a flash movie for something at work and im loading in some images using an XML file but when i use a preloader it only preloads the XML file (as in just the text inside) and not the images.
This causes the movie to start playing without having the images loaded.Does anyone have any ideas about how i could get it to preload the contents/images being called in the XML file so it doesn't run as soon as the XML file is loaded.

I have an existing swf file that I want to add Play,Pause, FF and Rewind via an externally loaded swf file that has the controls contained in it.

I am doing this so I can rollover the viewing window and have it appear. I cannot get any code to work to control the timeline (which is broken down into sections with individual MC's in each section.
What I am looking for is the code to apply to the buttons on the external swf file that has the controls to control the playing of the movie.

I have a flash file that is 1.5mb in size. As it takes about 6 minutes for someone on dialup to load this file, I have created a smaller swf file and loaded the larger one from it but I don't want the larger one to begin to play until it's fully downloaded. I load a "cal" swf file in another swf files mdi_window. So the window is moveable inside the application. The issue is with the x y axis for the popups that open up in cal swf. The code for the function that opens popup is:

The x & y axis of the popup act wired based on the location of the mdi_window in which the Cal.swf is being loaded. The x & y axis work fine if I move the mdi_window all the way on the top left corner of the application. The first image shows how the popup opens when I double-click on the 10:00 AM purple color event on my calendar.
and now when I move my window the popup moves to the side as well. I clicked on the same 10:00Am purple event again here: How can I solve this issue.

I'm planning navigation for my new site (see screen grab of proposed navigation corner). I want the words to swap levels and appear in front of others on roll over.
OK, just found this tutorial [URL] but I put the buttons into the MCs.
*BUT* - I want them to return to their original positions on RollOut - is this possible. I tried duplicating the code but substituting rollover to rollout and set the parameter to 0 or 1 or 2 to make them go back to a level I want them at.

I am having trouble with unload an loading movies. Basically I am loading a movie into a container, which works a charm:

I want to unload them both when a close button is pressed on the third loaded swf? Also, ideally I would like to add that second movie clip into a container, so I can position it correctly, but when I try copying the code I use on the first, it doesn't seem to work...is it to do with the "root" bit perhaps?

On frame 30 of my root timeline, I have dragged five different instances from my library onto the stage. I gave each one a distinct name, oneBtn, twoBtn, threeBtn, fourBtn, fiveBtn. I added a MouseEvent for each of these five objects, and ran a Trace to make sure I am able to identify the objects. At first, I used e.target.name but it returned instanceXX (instance23, instance84, instance83...). I think this happened because within each of those buttons, I had a movie clip within it so I can apply filters to them. I decided to trace e.target.parent.name. On two of the five objects, I was able to trace oneBtn, and twoBtn. On the other three, I still got instanceXX. I tried tracing e.target.parent.parent.name and I was able to trace the other three buttons, threeBtn, fourBtn, fiveBtn.
how come I need to target two different levels (e.target.parent.name & e.target.parent.parent.name) on my objects when I dragged them from the library and placed them onto the stage within the same timeline?

I have a flash project with three non overlapping panels (visual spaces) each of which contains different movie-clips. Each movie-clip in a particular panel is the child of that panel.Now, I want to drag one of the movie-clips from one panel to another (remove it as a child from the first panel and add it to the other) without a jitter and proper drag.What is the appropriate way to handle the drag architecturally

but is there anyway to fade the levels of a movieclip.
basically i keep loading jpgs, into a level of a movieclip. now i want to create a fade between one to the other. figure easiest way would be to have the jpgs load onto next level with alpha 0.. then once loaded alpha to 100 and unload the bottom jpg from previous level.

The problem I'm having is loading my info boxes. Basically, I want the the info boxes to stay on the middle of the main stage and also make the scroll mc non selectable (so that other mc's cannot be selected). I've been trying for ages to get this working but can't seem to make the buttons play the relative info box movie clips.Currently, the info box mc's are in the same movie clip as the mask & scroll mc. However, the buttons I want to activate the info box mc's are in the scroll mc. If I put the info boxes in the same mc as the buttons then it works fine but doesn't keep the info box moie clip in the middle of the stage as you can still scoll/select other itms in the mc.

MainMovie = level 0
Navbar = level 10
submovies = level 2
In MainMovie I load my navbar in level 10. Then from the navbar I load the submovies into level 2 (that way, the navigation is always on top)
My questions is, This works find locally, but when i upload the submovies won't appear when clicking the navbuttons.
I have tried relative paths, absolute paths, keeping it in the same folder, etc..

I am creating a presentation which has a main flash and then 3 sub categories to it. Main.fla is nothing but a container to load the other movies into. I could get the the first movie (movie1.swf) to load onto main.swf by using the foll code:
this.createEmptyMovieClip("empty_mc",1);
empty_mc.loadMovie("movie1.swf");
empty_mc.x=0;
empty_mc.y=0;
Now the problem is in movie1.swf the menu is like on the 3rd level, i.e. main stage>menu_mc>menu (where the buttons are).
How can I add a code on level "menu" so that when I click button2 or button3 it loads movie2.swf and movie3.swf respectivley onto the main stage. Makes sense or am making it too confusing..
I want to try this breaking a big movie into smaller parts functionality so that I can understand flash more.

I have tried this...e.content.name, but all i see is "instance32" which must be the temp name of the loaded file.
