Aug 12, 2009I have a problem loading in external swf's. I have one MovieClip in main.swf that is called pageHolders, and I assigned a class: Main.as. My problem is that I am trying to load external swf's from XML and place them into pageHolders, but I cant understand how.

Jul 19, 2011I'm working on making a pretty chunky game engine for games I plan on making, but I was wondering if you make external AS files unopenable such as .lib files, so that if I give it to a friend that wants to use it, he/she cannot change my code. Is there anyway to make external AS files unopenable? Also, obfuscation isn't an option for this problem as it only stops the people who hack the finished product, not stopping people who have access to the actual files.

May 28, 2007Structure: There is 1 main file that loads external SWF files depending on what is clicked on.One of the external SWF files loads its text from external text files. This works fine when viewing the SWF applet on its own. But when viewing as a whole site, the text doesnt appear. Very annoying.I made that particular SWF on my mums computer running Flash MX 2004The flash file itself uses the Scrollbar component from MX.Could someone tell me why the text doesnt load in this scenario? It runs fine on its own, just not as an external SWF.

It's a presentation that needs to play thru but still have the ability to stop, click on items, open a popup and then continue on in the presentation. May 11, 2009I have a webpage that I have a video linked to play when a user clicks on it - simple enough. With flv (v9 and below) videos, I have no issues serving it up to the user and them viewing it - with a f4v file this is a different animal, nothing happens, the web page player sits there spinning like it is going to do something and never does, like it cannot read or understand the video file.
how to make f4v videos play in a web page? My flv's are working fine, but cannot seem to get the better compressed f4v's to work right. I do not have DW CS4 or I would have tried to see how the code worked there. I created these videos in Premier Pro and exported via the Adobe Encoder in CS4. The video is beautiful for the same size and quality compared to the hazy flv's, so I really want to use the f4v's, I just cannot seem to get it to work.

A plays and loads B. B playes and loads C. C plays and loads D..... until F finishes playing then loads A and it starts all over. What is the best way to approach this?

I understand that I need to have an Xml playlist and some action script that references the videos to the player, but I have no clue on what to do.
I am looking to have a video begin as soon as the site loads and then have the buttons on the orange bar allow the user to navigate between other flv files. I would possibly be interested in including firther links on the video samples page.

Sep 12, 2011I have 2 buttons in my AS3 project that load .mp3 files and then play them. I have 2 buttons that switch between those files that aren't working. I get an error saying:
Error: Error #2037: Functions called in incorrect sequence, or earlier call was unsuccessful.

I'm thinking that means the file isn't loaded before it tries to play, is that right? How can I check to see if the file is loaded before playing?

Feb 27, 2011I could create a program for him in flash which would be able to play sounds corresponding to keys on the keyboard, but split in to 3 groups, and only 1 sound from each group can be playing at a time. I don't know that much about as3, and I told him this but said I would try anyway. The first thing I came up with was this:[code]In there, there's nothing to stop the sounds overlapping or looping like in my other solution, also it's obviously a lot less compact, but I sent it to my friend like that to see if it would at least play instantly. The response I got was that, although the lag was noticeably less, it was still present.

There's a sidebar, a main content pane with tabs, etc.I want to be able to create MXML files (like sidebar.MXML, tab1.mxml, etc.) that I can then load into the sidebar or load into a certain tab. That would make my code a lot more manageable instead of writing all that code inside of the main MXML file.Can I do this? I have already modularized some of my code by putting them in custom components, but I would really like to be able to load content from other MXML files, much like I can do in PHP:
