Using Flash CS3, v9, AS 3. I have got a Flash movie that I have set up to have captions display over it.I am using the included FLVPlayback component for the movie, and the included FLVPlaybackCaptioning component to set up the captions. My movie uses the included
Working on the following site [URL] On the "What we Do" page (one click to the right) each company logo is linked using the Action Script 2 below. Only the "Zipfizz" button works though. The rest of the buttons only work very rarely. I made a stock button from a white box then turned the opacity to 0. Put one over every logo with the proper dimensions and gave them the right instance names. If you click the logo repeatedly in different areas the link will sometimes work. Anyone have an idea what's going on? I not very familiar with AS2, only AS3 but the site was built by another designer awhile ago.
I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do something with xml in flash and don't even know where to begin.I'm building a flash piece for the header of a website that will contain six images and six captions. I plan on integrating the xml file with a cms so that the user can simply upload images and type in captions and the xml file will dynamically populate the swf.I know how to execute the back-end development with the cms and xml file, but I'm not quite sure how to tie the pieces I need from the xml to the flash file.
Ok basically i wana make a list box and when u click somethign in the list box it shows a thumbnailed image and a caption under it. i found this script which i think is the script im lookin for
var loadText = new LoadVars(); loadText.load("infolist.txt"); loadText.onLoad = function(success) {
I am trying to modify the hover caption tutorial from here at Kirupa to load the text in the caption from an external text file. Could anyone give me a hand trying to figure this out?I tried the simple way of loading external text but because the text is loaded in a MovieClip this does not work. Here is my code for the hover menu that currently loads the text dynamically through ActionScript:
MovieClip.prototype.resize = function() { var w = box.caption.textWidth+0 var h = box.caption.textHeight+0;
i have a movie that has captions on different frames and that works but when i load a movie that also has captions for areas it does not work.this is the caption code that is loaded in the main movie first frame.
/*tooltip metod for MovieClip object parameters definition: m= the message for tooltip. rgb= the background color for the tooltip.
[code]..
then i have a invisible movie clip named Laurel that when you mouse over it should show up.
I have a movie. In it are some buttons and a dynamic text field. When I press the buttons is should load text from a database into the dynamic text field. If I run the movie by itself (ie. not by LoadMovie()-ing it into a different movie) the dynamic text field gets filled with text and all is well and good. However, when I use LoadMovie() to load this very same movie into my main movie, the buttons no longer work; the text field stays empty.
I've been looking for a tutorial that loads different variables in a text file to different textfield/textbox in flash using AS3. So my text file would look like this:
myVariable1=<p class='header'>Headline1</p><br>Subtext content 1 myVariable2=<p class='header'>Headline2</p><br>Subtext content 2 myVariable3=<p class='header'>Headline2</p><br>Subtext content 3 And "myVariable1" would load in textbox "myText_txt_1" in flash and "myVariable2" would load in textbox "myText_txt_2" and so on...
I think this is possible in AS2 but is this even possible in AS3?
how to create a image gallery that uses arrays from a text file rather than xml (this is because the project I have now generates alot of html coding and stores it within a DB, it doesn't have any set html pages so using flash and xml is out of the question as it needs to be relative to the html page).
I have got as far as including my own way to get captions to be displayed as well....but here comes the problem, no matter what loop i have tried the captions seem to stay on the 1st caption and not change as the different thumbnails are clicked..
here is my code
Code: var locVar = new Array(); locVar = imgLoc.split(","); var tmbVar = new Array();
i have this code below that i made using a tutorial....it loads vars from txt file splits it then puts it into an array....once in an array it the brings the pics in from the array to create thumbnails and a larger image. my problem is i have captions to go with it and when i try to load the captions nothing happens or can be seen to be happening. i dont know where i am going wrong as i have no output or compiled errors
I'm following along the "Hover Captions" tutorial on kirupa.com. everything works as it should, but I'm having a bit of a problem. I want to have the button that will be hovered over inside a movie clip. When I do this, though, that movie clip is moved around by my mouse.
I'm working on for a flooring company. They want a Flash movie that allows the user to change the look (product and color) of different areas of the floor.I have a menu on the left side that designates the three different areas of the floor. I have the two products along with color swatches along the top. I currently have each of the three areas as separate movies that load into a main movie.These three area movies each contain the color swatches on the top as buttons to change the color of that area using "On Release > Go To Frame Label" actions that displays each of the different colors. These movies each load on a different level based on the selection of the left side menu.I want the user to be able to go to each of the three areas and change the product/color attributes without losing what they had already done. For instance, if they choose PRODUCT A in RED for AREA 1, then they want to change the product/color on AREA 2, I still want the movie to display PRODUCT A in RED for AREA 1, etc.The problem I run into is that when you go back and forth between the three areas, the navigation only controls what movie is on the top level and doesn't allow the user to go back to a previous area and change the product/color attribute.
I have a movie clip, that has various codes attached to it to snap to areas of the screen. If I apply the duplicate movie clip command to this, the second instance will have a new name right? so how can I change the code that addressed the orginal movie clip to relate to the new instance with the new name?
I have an all flash site that i'm making to learn flash MX 2004. I'm loading external swf's into a main page to make it all flow and easy for the browser to chew. i got a page that uses tellTarget to start rollovers and advance a movie. here's the script for one of the buttons...
Code: on (rollOver) { tellTarget ("/swift"){ gotoAndplay (2);[code]....
that works perfectly but when i load it into the main movie... it won't work...how to _root.,_parent, or this. is to make it work.
I've got a movie clip with masked-out areas. It's placed on top of various buttons.The idea is, the user rotates the top movie clip to reveal stationary buttons beneath it. Where there's a hole in the top movie clip, i'd like the user to be able to click the button revealed below.
It's looking like that's not possible. The buttons underneath cannot be activated, because the top movie clip is in the way, despite the transparency from the mask.
I'll begin thinking of a Plan B workaround, but first I wanted to ask if there's a way I'm not thinking of to do my Plan A.

[MX] I'm loading an infinitly scrolling swf into my main swf. When it loads however it doesn't work properly, because all the pixel values in the origonal code do not match for its location in the main movie. I know I can change the AS with new value and make it work, but I am wondering if there is another way. I'd like to be able to move it around and always have it work without changing it. Is there a way I can have the loaded swf retain its OWN origonal x,y cords? or some other method of doing this?
i'm having this weird pb i don't understand, could someone help me? i'm driving crazy here..what i do is load a movie from a movie but the 2nd movie load a variable. when i test the 2nd movie, it loads its variable and displays it as wanted, but when i load it from the 1st movie, the 2nd movie loads but seem not to load anymore its variable..
I've got the photos displaying from an xml file the way I'd like but I'm having trouble trying to get the photos caption to display. Here is want I have so far. Right now only the last caption in the loop is displaying. I would like to have the caption only display when you click on the photo. I've sort of come to a stand still when it come to doing this and.
In FLVPlayback working in as2.0, created cuepoints for FLV and i added captions wit xml file. but captions not loading.I did following steps and script.[code]
I have captioning working with the FLVPlayback/FLVPlaybackCaptioning components. My skin has a caption button, and it toggles the captions on and off. What I can't figure out is how to get the player to start with captioning off by default.
I've googled around a bit and all I've found so far indicates that this might not be possible if the caption button is in a skin. Is this true? I find it hard to believe that this is so difficult to accomplish.
I have a Flash website that consists of 6 different Scenes. The Home scene and the Videos scene each have a FLV player that I dragged from the library and I called it "vid". So I'm basically using the same player for both scenes. I'm also using the caption component and am assigning the xml via actionscript when the user clicks on a link, so it reloads the player with the correct video and the correct captions. The problem I'm having is that say they are watching the video on the Home scene with captions. If they click on the Contact Us scene, the video player disappears, but the captions stay on the screen by themselves. Looks really odd. I need a way to turn off the captions (called the component "myCaps") so they disappear both when changing scenes and changing movies. On the Videos scene, if you click a different movie's link, the old captions form the last movie stay on screen and just move up a line and the new movie's captions appear below that one. So, how do I get rid of the captions when I don't want them?[code]...
I'm inexperienced with Flash. A client has insisted on a captioned flash video file and we're trying to figure that out using CS5. I've followed the steps outlined in the Adobe, but when I test the movie, I get no captions. I see an error in the output tab under the stage:
I need help adding captions to images in a swf and picture gallery. I have added a dynamic text box in the flash file and have managed to import the text from XML but I have been unable to attatch it to different images to display different caption messages. I have followed a tutorial to make this gallery and only have the very basics so far. I am using XML to pull the information for the location and size of the images and gallery into the flash file.
Is there any reason why some of these captions aren't displaying? The scalpal, knife, and blade arent displaying all the others are fine, the code is basically the same the whole way through.
I know how to add captions to flash that I can convert into a flv. but interactive flash cannot be converted. I believe there is a way to do captions by adding the words on their own keyframes but some of the video's I need to caption have no real keyframes just scripts pointing to a audio holder such as:
I have a "hot" area where the user can drag around this newspaper looking thing. Also, there are hover captions that say, "Drag" and a caption that says "Close" over what will be the close button.Everything works fine.Until....Click to drag the paper thingy, then release it. Move your mouse off the paper, then back onto the hot area. The captions snap right to the center of the hot area.
I'm currently making an animation which will eventually exceed the 16,000 frame limit (don't ask haha), so, short of making two movies and having to just start up the next one, what is the code for loading a movie? I presume they need to be in the same directory? So basically all I want is on the last frame of the movie the code executes and the second movie file opens up and starts. I guess I'd want the current movie to close, too.
I Have 3 Movies:MAIN.SWF, contains loading movie actions for Nav.swf and Home.swf.NAV.SWF, contains navagation menu loaded on Level 2 in Main HOME.SWF, contains slideshow for home page loaded on Level 1 in Main In NAV.SWF, there is a MOVIE CLIP "graphmc", which contains a BUTTON "graphicbtn", When this button is clicked, I'd like the HOME.SWF (which is loaded into Main.swf on Level 1) to fade out and unload, and load and fade in Graphics.SWF in place of it.
