ActionScript 2.0 :: Loadmovie/loadclip On Attached MC Giving Wrong Height And Width
Nov 14, 2006
I got this frame i created and gave it a linkage name of : "myframe"
myframe has a picloader mc and a picmask mc..
I loop through attaching "myframe" at proper depths 12 times and once it is attached, i use loadmovie or loadclip to attach an image to myframe.picloader and enforce the mask onthe pic.
once I load the image, i do some tweening effects in AS but the width and height is no longer correct.
myframe is supposed to be 130 x 100 but now im getting 621 by 400.2.
I'm doing an xml image gallery. The bitmaps are loaded using a loader and loadClip. What's the easiest way to read the bitmap width and height? Is it worth trying BitmapData? PS I'm tracing the _width and _height of the container mc on onLoadComplete, but it's giving me 0, 0.
I've a movieclip in my library ready for export to ActionScript. It's width and height is (723, 614.05), but I tried to put it on stage manually and check. When I get the item from library in ActionScript i get that's it's width and height is (743.65, 626.75). How can that be possible?
i am creating 10 Circle movie clips dynamically and giving each of them a width and height random from 1 to 50, I am creating these CELLS to react to eachother in an environment that I create, well anyway everything is going good but this, SPEED
i would like the smallest cells to have a speed of .05 and from then on the larger the cell the smaller the speed, Every ... property i guess you could say... of the cell is proportional to it's width.
Is there a way to "read" the pixel size of a jpg image that just finished loading in a MovieClip? I am trying to resize the MovieClip to the image loaded. Right now, when an image is loaded, if it's not the same proportions as the loading MovieClip, it looks distorted.

I am using loadMovie to put an image onto the movieclip instance "mov_NowPlaying". The movieclip is sized to 56 X 56 on the stage, however, the image is around 120 X 120. I cannot seem to trace or change the width and height properties of the loaded image to 56 X 56. Here is what I have:
Code: Select allnewClam.clamTop.mov_NowPlaying.loadMovie("../videos/video3/meow.jpg", newClam.clamTop.mov_NowPlaying); newClam.clamTop.mov_NowPlaying.onEnterFrame = function () {
We sometimes get swfs at my job that doesn't match our standard banner width and height. We only have the swfs and not always able to get hold of the *fla.So we want to load the swf into our different standard banner size and show it.
How do I load the swf into a new *fla that has my standard stage width:995 and stage height: 150? Without distorting the swf to much. Swf could be loading into a MC or loading directly onto stage.I tried the loadMovie and loaded the swf into a empty MC. But I can't set the MCs width and height.
I am trying to reference to top level (stage) width and height of the main stage for the placement of something located inside a movieclip on the stage.
My code is: Code: my_loader.x = (stage.stageWidth - my_loader.width)/2; my_loader.y = (stage.stageHeight - my_loader.height)/2;
But this seems to just relate to the width/height of the mc that my_loader is nested in...
I faced a strange problem today while adding some decimal number in AS3. I have simply adding trace(1.025 + 0.025); statment. It didn't returned proper output i.e. 1.05., instead it has given as 1.0499999999999998.
know the reason behind this. Actually we are calculating some angle and leng in geometric function.And we are getting some diffrence in calculation.
I would like to use a movieclip to load a flv video. The problem I have is that I want to change the video dimensions. I've tried several software to change the video dimensions but as far as it seems all of them keep the same height-width ratio than in the original video. Is there any software that would allow me to change the height and width without keeping the same height/width ratio as in the original video file?
We have photos that are loading too slowly and I need to speed them up. I am using AS2. What's even more perplexing is that at certain times after refreshing the web page, some photos load and some do not. It seems to be random, at various times, the photos that did load do not. I cannot put my finger on why this is happening..
First, I tried using loadMovie(). Then, I tried the var loader: MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader(); with loadClip() For each JPEG. You are welcome to look at the site and see if there is anything that I can do to improve the speed of the loading. [URL]
At work, I am trying to load JPGs externally using AS2 loadMovie() and loadClip() and the photos take too long to display. My boss does not want a preloader, so the photos just need to display on our website immediately.
Some of the photos are between 75K and 150K and photos do not display in order. They come in at different times. Because of this, my boss is claiming that I did not complete the pages although they are done and I am just loading the photos from outside the SWF.
I've got this new problem where I'm trying to remove a container movieclip i've attached the first time the function is run, but I try to remove it and replace it again, but the second time around it gets a negative depth and all goes to hell.
Code:
function populateBasket(){ trace("B4 REMOVE:" + basketRows.loader.container.getDepth()); basketRows.loader.container.removeMovieClip();
I am trying to use flowlayout from : [URL] when i implement this layout the height of container/group is not increasing automatically depending upon the elements added. I have given no height to the container/group so that it can take as much height as required but this layout is not giving any height to it.

In my AS3 code all the elements on the page are dynamically positioned depending on the current width and height of the SWF - providing it's not under a certain value, then the items are back in their original position.
When debugging in the Flash player the size all reports correctly however when run from a web browser it does not - initially.
This is my HTML & PHP code for the entire page:
HTML Code: <?php function hashId($fn) { $hash=md5_file($fn);
[Code].....
But I cannot get the size to report correctly without, say, clicking a button.
It seems to me like I need to force flash to re-draw the screen, but I had no luck trying to do that.
I am looking at the SimpleButton entirely wrong. Here's what I'm doing (inside of a MovieClip):
[Code]...
the close_btn.width and height remain 0. Am I supposed to just rely on the DisplayObject members of the SimpleButton completely and ignore width/height/x/y or what?
I've got an empty MC called "picture". This MC has the following path:
Code: _root.container.picture
So, it's an external SWF (photography.swf) loaded in thru the container MC.When I make button at the first frame of photography.swf everything works fine. BUT, when I place the same button inside a MC (called "allphotos") I cannot get this to work.I use he following code for the button:
I've got an image being changed based on a variable, and although the variable part and the actual image change is correct, the new image is coming up to the right and down from where the holder image was.
I have a masked movieclip which contains nothing but static text inserted from the IDE (not programatically).
In the IDE it states this movieclips height to be 332.25, however when I trace the movieclips _height property it returns 327.3.
This is causing my scrollbar code to mess up as it is not scrolling down far enough. It is also not a one off thing, every block of text I make in the IDE exhibits this behaviour.
I have a full screen flash movie that loads and displays correctly in firefox and chrome. In IE, however, it displays at 1/3 the width. The embedded code is relatively simple:
I have a movieclip with static text inside of it. The width (correct one) of the movieclip is 204 px, this is what it even reports after dragging it from library to stage. However, if I export the movie and trace the width of the movieclip, I get 214 px. Inside of the clip is a static text field - it is not wider than the clip and it is not even filled up with text completely. Now if I change it to dynamic text and I export the movie, I get the correct width - 204.
I currently have two problems with Flex 3 htmlText.
1) When I am setting my text's htmlText: myText.htmlText = <html text stored in my mysql database> It calculates the height way wrong. In most cases, a ton of padding (or whitespace) is added above and below the text. I am not sure what happens, but it calculates the textHeight way higher than normally.
2) If I put <span> tags in my html, it automatically strips them out (instead of just ignoring them). I am using the span tags to be able to dynamically find certain pieces of my text. For instance: <span class="salutation">Dear,</span> <span class="tag">[First Name]</span> is inserted in my htmlText, and I use them to parse out the salutation and tag of my variable data.
Any alternative ideas on how to parse out pieces of html? Any way to improve htmlText? How to correctly measure textHeight and/or remove padding?
I have a flash banner graphic that I created at 1000px wide by 420px tall. I want this to be fluid and fill the browser width, so that when the browser is rescaled the swf fills the horizontal space. My problem is that there is content below it that needs to touch it, but the height is trying to fill 100% so it is creating vertical space between the flash content and the div below it.
I guess a better way to describe it is that I don't want to define the height I just want the width to be 100%. At 100% height there is unused space so I need to make the height maybe undefined or something smaller then 100%?Also, if you make the browser too small vertically the width will not fill. So I want 100% width regardless of the browser height.
